Recommended them and I really wish I had not !!! The person I sent to them can't get anymore be to call her back and the office does not care that she is a 28 yr young lady that can't see and yes they have her CT scans but can't seem to find time to call her back cause the doctor is on vacation and they other doctors in the firm don't have time to look at the scans!!! It has been over a week and still nothing !!! Really wish I had kept my mouth shut We received excellent service when we went, it is so sad that their customer service has gotten so very bad !! From check-in to check-out, my appointment went extremely well. All the personnel were very professional/helpful as I went from station to station. My experience with Heaton Eye Associates is not good. I have Macular Degeneration that requires an injection in one of my eyes each month..After my last injection i was informed by Heaton that they will no longer provide the medication Eylea that helps my issue..Instead they said I would need to find another Physician..Please note that I have medical insurance and it pays for the injection.. when I ask about this I was given the story that because of other peoples insurance that does not pay they lose money and will not provide the much needed medicine to anyone..Never thought I would experience something like this in America.. Now I have to make arrangement to travel to another town for my monthly injection and make arrangements to stay overnight because I'am unable to drive after the injection for 4 to 5 hours..So they referred me to another physician in Tyler that has terrible reviews..I declined and found my new physician in Shreveport.. In summary, my observation is that Heaton is all about the money and not patient care..So Sad! Simply no reason for them to do this.. The Medicine is easy for them to procure and MY INSURANCE PAYS! Very Sad.. thats why the two stars..Probably should be one star. read more

As always, everyone was considerate and kind. I had to have my glasses readjusted as my right eye changed since surgery and they were patient with my situation and tried very hard to rectify it. It was no body's error just an eye that changed slower than it should. There was no charge and hopefully I will be on the way to better vision. read more

I was sent over to Heaton Eye Associates by my Doctor due to my Diabetes. Went I arrived I was greeted by the front desk and they took care of my paperwork and information. After the paperwork was done they told me to take a seat in the waiting room and someone will be with me shortly. I waited about 5 minutes and someone already called my name. They took me back and did the exam before the doctor came in and did a wonderful job. Afterwords when Dr. Risner came in he explained everything that was done and what I should be mindful of in the future. I glad I have been told about such a wonderful place and will be back for years to come as well as telling my friends and family. read more

After a few years with another doctor in Longview, I needed my eyes checked and decided to give these people a try. The first thing I noticed was how professional the front desk was compared to my previous doctor and what a nice waiting area they had. When I was called back, my initial exam was taken care of by a lady named Vidi, who unlike my last place, knew how to properly operate all the equipment. My doctor was Dr. Muirhead and I was very impressed with his exam...much better than my previous doctor and I did not get the impression that he was trying to sell me on unneeded follow ups or unneeded procedures like my last doctor. My experience with Heaton Eye Associates in Longview has been devastating. I was 76 years old when I had cataract surgery a year and 7 months ago. They made me pay $3,700 cash. Their scheduling and billing person told me that my insurance WOULD NOT pay for corrective lens. A year later, during a conversation with my insurance provider, I asked them why they didn't pay for it. They told me that they definitely WOULD HAVE paid for it. After talking to others, I recently checked with DeHaven Eye Clinic and Dr. Walgama, and they both said that their corrective lens is definitely covered by insurance, and the cataract surgery with corrective lens would have cost me nothing out of pocket. Heaton charged an extra $2,450 for ONE corrective lens to see at distance and close up. I cannot see to read close up even with glasses and have limited distance vision with my left eye still after a year and 7 months. I have a permanent scar in the center of my pupil and cloudy vision. They accused me of rubbing my eye, but I was NEVER without the protective shield on except to apply drops. I never touched my eye. They also scratched my cornea on the right eye, but it recovered. Post surgery was very painful with both eyes. read more
