Ms. Rhonda mans the front desk and she is extremely friendly and knowledgable. She immediately made me feel comfortable and made sure I had everything we would need for class. They will order anything you might need and are not pushy about it in the least. My daughter is 2.5 and loves the class. She loves her teacher and each week looks forward to the class. The best part that even at her young age she is actually learning, which as a dancer at one time makes me so happy. Once our Groupon time frame was over, there was no pressure to continue with classes but we have. I am very happy with our experience so far and hopefully will continue to be so for years to come!

OM told me this is not a school. It is not their responsibility to make sure our kids are safe. This after I found a baby sleeping in a running car in the parking lot. Parent was in a back room, with all adults, eating lunch. OM told me they were taking turns checking on him so he was ok, even though car could not be seen from the school door. She then reprimanded ME for saying I find that disgusting, in front of the babies sister. How would sister have felt if police came or if child was abducted or died??? If this is how they protect their own, its no wonder they refuse to protect ours. Chaos and disorganization are overwhelming. No one seems to have any solid grasp on how to run this place. They insist you wear certain colors and styles, but don't know what that is? Set up an event to size and order all outfits... but then no one knew what we needed. Ended up spending more than necessary bc they weren't sure!!! The kicker is my account information is trapped in their system! I tried to delete my account and cc information but it is not an option! What!!? How can they hold my card and personal information hostage. This is terrifying and unacceptable. No where on the site does it have the option to delete my account. Don't trust them. They are money hungry with no concern for your child.

I bid on level-one improv classes at a charity gala and was eager to sign up and get started. I…read morewas also VERY nervous about it. Upon meeting Jill, our instructor and the co-owner/founder, I calmed down quite a bit. I think I fully came out of my shell mid-way through the semester, and then I liked it so much, I signed up for level two. I had so much fun! I haven't flexed these muscles since drama class in high school (no way am I telling you how long that's been - but it's been a LONG time). Jill creates a safe space and lets you explore in your own way. She gives prompts, clarifies, and gives excellent feedback; it truly is a fun time. I enjoyed getting to know my classmates; we all come from different backgrounds, but bonded really nicely. I have also popped in for Leela's drop-in sessions on Thursdays. That is an entirely different experience, but also very fun. They also do a free first Friday event each month, so if you are curious, I recommend signing up for that first. Raleigh is lucky to have such a great space with such wonderful people, and I'm lucky to have found them. :)

I made the trek from Durham in rush our traffic bc I was curious to see how this class would be structured as some one who took a level and and level 2 class like 4 years ago in Durham. I was surprised by the class size but overall think that it worked out pretty well with the activities that were planned. The instructor and owner were both great! It's a decent space overall too! This was an immersive events that included thrill, horror, excitement and comedy. There were some surprisingly talented acrobatic moves in this Cirque. I enjoyed when they pulled people from the crowd to take part in the entertainment. Some scenes were super entertaining and others left me on the edge of my seat. I enjoyed this event. It was a bit long though. A solid 1.5 hours was good enough for me but after 1.5 hours they took an intermission and I left. I had seen enough! It's only so much of the thrilling shock effects I could take lol. I do recommend attending this event as a date or just a night out. Worth the price and the seating was decent.

I recently had the opportunity to see Titanic, The Musical with Poiema Arts. They have shows at the…read moreStars Auditorium at Imaginix in Raleigh, NC. I arrived a little early to find a huge parking lot. Although it is kind of hidden off Falls of Neuse Rd, the building's unique domes made it easy to find. I had just heard of this group in the past week, so I missed that it was faith-based. The spiritual focus was much stronger than I anticipated. When I arrived, I was checked in and told what side to enter when the doors opened. They open 45 minutes before show time. There are 4 rows at the front, followed by a walkway before the stadium, with stadium-style seating in the upper rows. I was in row B for the performance, and it was really close to the stage, so you felt part of it. The auditorium seats 200 patrons, which is a good size and still small enough. I don't think there is a bad seat in the auditorium; it just depends on how close you like to be to the stage. The production was high-quality and energetic, featuring a talented cast. A highlight was that we were all provided a Boarding Pass and on the other side was the ticket #, the passenger's name, cabin type, age and gender. I received a ticket for Martin Markoff, aged 35. Then, at the end of the show, in the lobby, we could go to the class our passenger had attended and learn whether they were among those who survived or perished. I've since researched that he was a potter from Bulgaria, and his body was never recovered. It was a very moving, personal touch. What truly stood out was the staff. After learning it was my first time there, they went out of their way to make a connection. Someone checked in on me at intermission to see how I was enjoying the show, and even the producer found me at the end to ask my thoughts. After a recent bad experience elsewhere, being treated with this much care and professional respect as a solo patron was exactly what I needed. I'm glad I discovered this group and would definitely recommend checking out their future productions!

To anyone looking to see Poiema's upcoming show, West Side Story, or any show moving forward for…read morethat matter: I believe you should be aware of Michael Green, both the director and founder of Poeima Arts, and his practices. I am writing this review as not just a concerned bystander, but as a former student of his, so that everyone buying tickets and supporting this theatre, know exactly where their support is going. I am also writing for the parents looking to put their children into one of his programs. You should be aware of how he may cast your child. I would like to point out the inappropriate casting of this show which lead me to writing this review. The boy in this production who is playing Tony, the leading man, is 15 years old. This, in and of itself, is not a problem. In fact, I am happy to see theatrical opportunities for young men in the Triangle. The problem becomes evident when you realize that the woman who plays Maria, the leading lady of this show and romantic interest of Tony, is 25 years old. An adult and a minor with ten years between them playing a romantic couple. How is this acceptable to Michael Green, someone who claims to be a professional in the field? What does not help the case is that the woman playing Maria is Green's own daughter-in-law. This practice of casting minors alongside adults in intimate roles is highly inappropriate and disgusting to begin with, but this is where I'll add some of my own experience with Michael Green. As a former student of his who has seen and been in his previous shows, this casting decision is not an isolated event. Michael Green has cast adults alongside children with no protections put in place before, and in fact, normalized this with both students and parents who didn't know anything of theatre etiquette outside of him. As a student I witnessed the allowance and encouragement of improvised touch over rehearsed touches and the normalization of not asking for consent. This opened the door to inappropriate behavior both inside and outside of the classroom as well. A theatre teacher should teach their students that they should only be touched when they've given clear consent. This is how a theatre teacher keeps their students safe. Not teaching them these safety practices becomes an even bigger issue and even more dangerous when these students are minors faced with being touched by adults. I am writing this review out of concern that the behaviors and practices I saw as a student are continuing with this current production. I had hoped Michael Green had grown, but that does not seem to be the case.

Clayton Center as a venue is an awesome facility. On this night, I didn't particularly like the comedy material and and there many empty seats. I will return to the Clayton Center again as they seem to attract quality talents and so close to nice restaurants!
