She was argumentative…read moreand condescending over a difference of opinion as to how my clothes should have been altered. She did admit that they messed up the job and she paid for the corrections at another alterations spot around the corner on Yonge St (who I won't mention), but she accused me of all manner of ill intention (including being racist against my own people!) in order to score points in petty arguments that really shouldn't have arisen to begin with. It all centered around my telling her that the style of alteration that was promised to me wasn't the kind that was done (I was told there would be darts in the waist instead of opening the seam on this job). She said that no alterations place would do darts and they couldn't look good so she didn't know why I'd be promised that or why I'd believe it. I assured her that many Caribbean alterations people did darts to accommodate different body shapes (since I have thick thighs and butt compared to my waist). She said I was racist against black people for saying some of us (including myself!) have thicker butts. I assured her I was speaking about myself and I loved myself and was not racist against myself or my people but by then she was in what I would describe as full meltdown mode. Anyway, she told me she'd never want my racist business again and I told her she was crazy. I reaaaaallly try to avoid bad interactions like this so it really took some pretty constant dedication on her part to get me to tell her flat out that she was crazy. She also told me repeatedly about how accomplished she was, how she owned the place and had at least two university degrees (I forget the number now) and she generally seemed absolutely out of her tree during the course of our interactions. I took my poorly altered jeans to a nearby alterations spot and told them the same thing - that my butt and thighs were disproportionally thick for my waist and he replied "It's a long time I'm in business - I have a lot of African and Caribbean clients - I know different body shapes". I didn't even ask him for it but he did darts! Despite Flair Cleaners assertion that nobody would and they couldn't look good! And they are seamless. Perfect. If I knew how to take a photo and upload it I would (and maybe I'll learn how to show the work). And I wasn't called racist against my people and he didn't tell me about his university degrees and his general importance or speak down to me or against me in any way. Night and day experiences. AND he likes me coming back to his shop! I imagine I just caught the owner on several bad days or managed to trigger her somehow, because I can't believe she goes through life interacting with strangers like that on a regular basis. If I could add a 1/2 star for "benefit of the doubt" (since everybody has bad days) I would, but for all she said to me and about me, there's no way I could give 2 stars.

I popped into Gibson Cleaners and was greeted right away. I told them what I wanted done and the girl at the counter was very friendly and made notes for everything. She took my phone number and asked if I would like a text when my jacket was finished. I think that's a great option. She also asked when I would like it by and next day was an option so I chose that as well. Next day I received a text saying my jacket was ready to be picked up. When I arrived I was able to pick it up quickly and easily and the cost for the Dry Cleaning and the repairs was less than $40. Pretty amazing. The only reason I won't give it 5 stars was that my jacket still had a lot of cat hair on it. I was hoping the cleaning would have removed it all but there was still a noticeable amount left. ...besides that I would use Gibson cleaners again.

This one was close to my work and on a whim decided to try them. They were fantastic! I brought in a jacket and one other item to be dry cleaned. They called me a day earlier then I needed it saying it's ready, 3 day turn around. The owner is so sweet, she had a nice conversation asking how I found them and saying that she hopes I'll come back. They did a great job with the clothes, it was easy in and out experience and the clothes were pristine. The price was pretty on par too, not too expensive, but in the middle. Definitely going to be a regular! Plus their hours are great for me to come after work or weekends.

My clothes have always come back clean, tidy and priced reasonably for services rendered. I also use them for large bulky items that need to be commercially cleaned (i.e. down duvets, small area rugs, down coats). Any particularly stained areas are examined closely upon receipt, marked with a sticker, and given special care and attention during cleaning. In over a decade of regular patronage, they have never lost or misplaced any of my items. I would also like to give a special shout out to Mr. Lee, their on-site tailor. I work in the clothing industry, and know how valuable it is to have a good tailor in your arsenal of professionals. I can't tell you how many times I've taken an item to Mr Lee to nip in a waist, shorten a hem or sleeve, put a dart in a shirt -- it makes a massive difference on how off-the-rack, inexpensive items fit. He may not speak English very well, but he certainly understands fit, and with Alice's help, any consultation regarding alterations goes smoothly. Their parking lot is tiny - room for only 2 cars - and sometimes during the busy rush hour on Lesmill Road, it can be challenging to get in and out. But that's not their fault ! and it's a testament to how many people in the 'hood use their services. I trust Bayview Cleaners with my wardrobe 100%.
