Dr. Brown may be fine for very simple cases, but do not go to her if you have any sort of complex case. She failed to adequately collaborate with my jaw surgeon, leading to delays and issues. At one point, my wires were left cut for several weeks until I advocated for them to be reconnected, which caused unwanted tooth movement and new gaps that were not present prior to surgery. When I requested a copy of my treatment plan and records, as is my right under HIPAA, the staff initially tried to charge me for access to my own medical notes. Only after I referenced HIPAA regulations did they provide the documents without further issue. When I scheduled a meeting with the office manager to express my concerns, her disposition became extremely defensive and unprofessional, and security was called without justification. During a later visit, I also had an uncomfortable encounter with Dr. Brown that left me feeling unsafe. Overall, I found the lack of communication, professionalism, and respect for patient rights very concerning. I strongly recommend that this office receive additional training in HIPAA compliance and patient care communication. read more

Professional, Meticulous and Caring! It was a very big decision for our family to move forward with braces for our oldest daughter. We were very concerned about the price, the process and most importantly, finding the right orthodontist. From our very first interaction, Dr. Heather Brown and her awesome staff were extremely kind, courteous and professional. Our initial consultation was thorough and provided us all of the information we needed for our daughter's road to a perfect smile. We did experience a few bumps along the way (solely due to our daughter NOT fully adhering to the instructions provided), but even in those moments, Dr. Brown and staff were extremely understanding and provided our daughter with kind direction on how to stay on track. This review is a bit tardy as I finished with my orthodontic treatment at Heather Brown Orthodontics about 2 years ago. - My consultation experience was fantastic -- every was incredibly friendly, answered all my questions, etc. and I spoke for a couple of minutes with Dr. Brown. That was the longest period of time I spent with her though, as I would be lucky to see her for more than 1-2 mins at all subsequent appointments. - Limited office hours: Closed on Fridays and weekends, no evening hours. Fine for the majority of people but it got kind of tiring having to take off work to make my appointments after a while. - A couple of times, I got overly optimistic estimates -- I would be told to wait 2-4 weeks for refinement delivery, then radio silence until 6-8 weeks later. - You do have to speak up for yourself. I wasn't completely satisfied with the alignment of my teeth after the initial refinement, but no one asked me what I thought before starting the process to order the final retainers. My bottom teeth were still a bit crooked and I ended up getting a second set of refinement aligners, which would not have happened if I hadn't spoken up. - At one point during my treatment course, one of my attachments fell off and had to be molded on my hand. It made my retainers fit very poorly/weirdly and when I bought it up, I was told that it was "close enough" and wouldn't affect the final alignment of my teeth. Overall, I'm satisfied with the appearance of my teeth but not entirely happy with the experience getting there. I suppose it's hard to have a personalized experience at such a large practice, but that may be perfectly fine for some people. read more

Her staff is just as kind as she is, if not more. The woman who did my x-rays was friendly and direct. I was in awe that Dr. Brown has a movie theater in her office. I would avoid this business at all costs. If you value your time, this is not the orthodontist for you. First, I tried to find Saturday appointments on the online calendar. They were unavailable. Alternately, I called just to confirm if she ever schedules appointments on Saturdays, and was told that she only sees "select" patients on Saturdays. I respected the policy and tried to work something out with my schedule. The staff blatantly lie about appointment times. I scheduled my appointment online, by clicking the preferred time slot and completing all of my insurance information. I received two confirmations that my appointment was set at that time. I received a follow up call informing me that they were double-booked and asked me if I wanted to change my time. I respectfully declined because my availability is limited. As a courtesy, the representative agreed to keep my same appointment time because Dr. Brown "values excellent customer service." Shortly after the call, I received a text message confirmation, which provides: "Zocdoc appt reminder: 3:00 PM Today Dr. Heather T. Brown, 2636 South Loop West, Ste 100, Houston, TX 77054, (713) 665-4455." I arrived at 2:45 PM, signed in, watch other patients that arrived after me get serviced first. I inquired about my appointment time. The representative stated that I had a later appointment time. As mentioned, my time is very limited. I cannot risk making necessary accommodations, scheduling appointments, and arriving early just to be lied to by the staff under the guise of "excellent customer service." I raised this concern to her staff. They confirmed that for consultations, this service is common. However, after the consultation, they are a bit more professional. As far as Dr. Brown, she is personable, nice, and knowledgeable. But, I'd rather prefer to look into other orthos who respect my time. read more

First thing that came to mind was their overhead-cha-ching$$ I saw pictures of celebrities and it appeared the staff went on some crusie line trips.Ok, the staff is well taken care of...I was led to one room with four nice ladies in one room--including the Dr.. I sat in a massage chair, was offered some wine, got to spin a wheel for a discount, with other amnenities. I thought I was on the "Wheel of Fortune" or "The Love Boat." I believe I won 200.00 off my braces and a dinner at a local restaurant. Dr. Brown is very charming and has a polished veneer to present. All I had to do was sign on the dotted line-so to speak. All these nice gifts were only offered if I had signed on that day! IF, they would have allowed me to keep the restaurant award, I would have come back the next day. But, this sales pitch was too much of a shell game with pretty smiles. My gut said, time to move on...I did not want to feel like I was on a reality show. I just wanted a straight forward Orthodontist without the bells and whistles. I would recommend to tone down the sales perks. Eyes are the window to the soul. The best orthodontist in the city hands down. She is patient, understanding, and they keep working with you til the job is done. Because of my busy school schedule I kept missing appointments. They kept working with me well after receiving my last payment and did not try to rush me or give me a lower quality of service. The whole office treats you like family. Aside from a trainee or two when they expanded their office to accommodate the volume of patients, I have never had issues with my visits. Even the removal process was relatively painless. This business has some questionably ethical business practices. I set up an appointment for a retainer consultation. They informed me on the phone that it would be $308 for a record collection and various fees for the retainer. But, the consultation was free. I asked them why I couldn't just provide my own records from my dentist since $308 is a very hefty price tag for getting my free records, and they said that Dr. Brown likes to do her own tests, but that the tests were part of the consultation, so the tests were free. But, that should not be confused with the $308 record collection fee. What seems to be happening is that the consultation is "free" but then they charge you an exorbitant amount of money to collect records to cover the costs associated with consultation (like duplicating already done X-ray panels). This business marketing is disingenuous and very shady to me. If that is not what is happening then the person I spoke to on the phone is not equipped enough to explain the process, which would be another problem. Either way, I ended up deciding not to book for treatment there because I do not abide businesses that behave in this kind of shady manner. If you want to charge for a consult, charge for a consult, don't backdoor it in. read more

My daughter goes to her office. It has never been the same dentist working on her braces. It's always someone new and Dr. Heather Brown has never once worked on her braces. They do not give courtesy calls for appointments and charges $75 if you miss an appointment. Some appointments are not until months later. The least they can do is call, but I think they'd rather collect the $75 and call it a day. read more
