I got her to finally accept the fact that we should go see a Specialist and if it felt right we would continue and for whatever reason she was not comfortable then we would simply leave and that would be that, and we could head over to Costco to check out their option (not options). I had gotten a referral to check out Dr Leiterman as my mom's first go round and we hit the motherlode (pun intended) Not only was my mom very comfortable with Dr Leiterman she was now eager to see what he could do in helping her regain her hearing. Once her chosen earpiece arrived Dr Leiterman very patiently walked us through the process (let us not forget he has to say the same thing over and over to individuals who can't hear) but he never once showed the impatience of a man who does this day in and day out. His compassion was pure and from the heart and that helped my 87 year old mom relax and welcome this potential. Once her device was inserted he asked us to walk outside and allow the every day's sounds to enter my mom's ears. Man the immediate smile that came over my mom's face when she heard the roar of the water outside his office was priceless and as we went home she kept looking to hear this and hear that in the confines of her home. Dr Leiterman gave life's little sounds back to my mom and for that I will forever be thankful for. If you are reading this and you too have a parent or family member who mirrors my experience with my mom, go see Dr Leiterman and allow him to assist your love one regain the precious gift of hearing. The smiles you will see on their faces will make you understand you have done them a great service. She never needed to see what Costco had to offer for she knew she was at the right place with the right Audiologist.

In 30 years I've NEVER had to pay $35 with my HMO. The person who tested my hearing was great (African-American who is curiously absent from the website) but Dr. Levine left me feeling like he treats every person with hearing issues exactly the same. He was not at all concerned about the onset or progression of my condition; there was a 10-second confirmation of the diagnosis I presented him with and a handout that included treatments based on urban myth (really!).
