My 87 year old mom's hearing had been in decline for some time now and she just didn't want to get a hearing device until recently. Her concern was that it would be uncomfortable and also others would know she had a hearing aid. Someone told her she could go to Costco too but I told her I felt we should go to someone that does only hearing versus a place that sells tires, Tvs and hearing aids in hopes to have a better understanding on what are options will be. I got her to finally accept the fact that we should go see a Specialist and if it felt right we would continue and for whatever reason she was not comfortable then we would simply leave and that would be that, and we could head over to Costco to check out their option (not options). I had gotten a referral to check out Dr Leiterman as my mom's first go round and we hit the motherlode (pun intended) Not only was my mom very comfortable with Dr Leiterman she was now eager to see what he could do in helping her regain her hearing. Once her chosen earpiece arrived Dr Leiterman very patiently walked us through the process (let us not forget he has to say the same thing over and over to individuals who can't hear) but he never once showed the impatience of a man who does this day in and day out. His compassion was pure and from the heart and that helped my 87 year old mom relax and welcome this potential. Once her device was inserted he asked us to walk outside and allow the every day's sounds to enter my mom's ears. Man the immediate smile that came over my mom's face when she heard the roar of the water outside his office was priceless and as we went home she kept looking to hear this and hear that in the confines of her home. Dr Leiterman gave life's little sounds back to my mom and for that I will forever be thankful for. If you are reading this and you too have a parent or family member who mirrors my experience with my mom, go see Dr Leiterman and allow him to assist your love one regain the precious gift of hearing. I am not a patient of Dr. Troy Scanlon but my mother is. The care & concern that he took with my mother was no less than AMAZING! I haven't had a conversation with my mother in over a year. And I live with my mother. I would get tired of constantly repeating myself only to find out that she did not hear a word i said. Dr. Troy diagnosed her & set her up with hearing aids. I recently had my hearing checked by Dr. Scanlon at Beach City Hearing Solutions and had a great experience. The front office was warm and the check in process was easy. Dr. Scanlon greeted me with a smile and made me feel very comfortable from the get go. As we were going over my results, he was was patient with me and answered all my questions. Very sorry I chose this Starkey location! You'd think when spending $6000. that the service & courtesy would be "top notch" . In this instance, it was far below my expectation. Upon my arrival with a qualified friend, we had to wait 20 minutes before anyone said hello or afford to help us. We then spent another 20 minutes with Dr. Leiterman demonstrating the use of my new hearing aid. Thereafter he never called nor afforded to help me with my new equipment. I realized that the model I was given was far to big for my ear. I returned it after 2 weeks. No one has ever contacted me to review the poorly fitting hearing aid. And then it took 2 months to receive my refund. This office is not properly qualified, nor does it care about personal satisfaction & common courtesy. read more

Alicia called me to set up an appointment. I had a number of appointments next week so while on the line, I went to get my planner. I then realized that I potentially have jury duty next week so she said I should call next week. Fine. I didn't hang up as I wrote her name in my planner and apparently Alicia didn't either because I could hear her complaining about my appointments, ending with "and she has jury duty. JESUS CHRIST!" I called her back to say that I could hear her complaining about me. She was quiet for a moment and then said " Ok. Thank you." "I am sorry;. I am having a bad day" or "I am so sorry-- It's late on a Friday and Im trying to get out of here" would be appropriate responses. Jesus Christ, Alicia, I don't need your services. read more

During the trial period, at a regularly scheduled appointment with Dr. Troy Scanlon, I returned my hearing aids for a refund, in accordance with a written contract and state law. The return was acknowledged in writing. It takes 5 minutes to make a credit card refund. To date, I have waited over 70 days, and no refund has been made. read more

My 84 y/o mother had a 2pm appt. on Friday, August 7, 2020. She drove there from San Pedro. When she arrived, the door was locked. She stood outside the door for 15 minutes hoping that the audiologist and staff would return by the time of her appt. Because she is 84, she got tired of standing and went down to the lobby of the building to sit. She called them for her cell phone, but no one answered. She left at finally left at 2:30. This is very unprofessional. There wasn't a note on the door, no one called to cancel, nor did anyone return her call. It is Wednesday of the following week. She was expecting to have her hearing aids serviced and pick up a supply of batteries as she was running low. I hope someone sees this review and makes contact with her. I'm pretty sure they will be able to figure out who my mother is. read more

I thought everybody was mumbling then finally decided to get my hearing checked just in case the problem was me, not them. I was shocked to find that there was significant hearing loss. Dr. Leiterman and his team were fantastic in helping me find the best solution and fine-tuned the tiniest, most invisible hearing aids I had ever seen to precisely enhance exactly the parts of my hearing that were inadequate. It has been like a whole new world opened up immediately and I suddenly noticed the sounds of a waterfall, chirping birds I never heard before, and people stopped mumbling ;) I got the Starkey hearing aids with bluetooth connection to my iPhone app and can take phone calls, listen to music, and watch movies on my phone through them. This place is great, I bring both of my parents here and they are really happy with their hearing aids. David Jenkins and Dr. Leiterman treat us like family. I have even recommended this place to my landlord and she couldn't be happier. My dad spent over a year trying different places but would end up returning because they "never sounded right"...I'm not sure what David did but my dad finally stopped complaining. I decided to replace my in-ear hearing aids with a more traditional Beltone product as I did not particularly find the in-ear type comfortable or the short battery life over the long term worthwhile. I returned to Beach Cities Hearing in Torrance for an updated hearing test with Dr. Kim Baldock-Mahlock and discussed a solution that would work better for me. With Dr Mahlock's excellent advice, I choose Beltone. Now that I have been using them for approximately 6 months my comfort level and hearing acuity is much improved, along with ease of use and with a far improved battery life. Dr. Mahlock and the amazing office staff has been terrific the entire time with numerous visits afterwards to ensure proper fit, best settings and customer care. These new hearing aids encompass the lastest and best technologizes for me and with the care and support I continue to receive highly recomment both Dr Litterman and Dr Mahlock.
