While I waited for my appointment, there were fresh-baked cookies sitting on the coffee/tea bar and comfortable chairs to sit in. I met with Dr. Megan who patiently explained what they could do for me with my tinnitus and hyperacusis. I learned things about my condition that no other doctor could tell me. Megan was so patient, kind and informative. After receiving a very thorough hearing test, I was fitted with hearing aids that are meant to help me not be anxious or as aware of the noises coming from inside and outside my head. My sensitivity to noise started right after a head injury and have been debilitating. I now have great hope that in the future, I will be able to live a normal life going to restaurants, supermarkets, concerts and church, movies and more. Thank you, Sound Relief.

Instead of updating the firmware, she broke my hearing aides. I left with only being able to hear out of one ear. 3. I asked the doctor for a summary of my benefits for a price quote to purchase new hearing aides. She said the front desk will do it. The front desk said the doctor would do it. I never got the summary. Trying to get any of these problems seems to be a Herculean effort. I won't be back. Sound relief- you lost a customer who was dedicated for the past 6 years.

So much so that I have flown there! Over two years ago I was struggling with ongoing IBS issues and SIBO. It was difficult to find a pcp who took the time to listen to my symptoms or was willing to look at things deeper. Between the functional testing she ran and the various treatments she literally saved me. I no longer have fear surrounding food. I'm now seeing her for HRT which has been a game changer. I've seen other practitioners who would only prescribe basic hormone replacement and wouldn't run labs or consider bioidentical homones. I love that she takes the conservative approach to start as personally my hormones have been a delicate balance. I cannot say enough about the care I've received from Dr. Milling and Advanced Integrative. I've sent so many of my friends and family members to her. She"s thorough, caring and takes her time. You'd think it was a no brainer that a 90+ year old would need hearing aids. They approved the insurance before we visited and said we would be covered. At the office visit, they cleaned out his ears, did the test, and gave us a consultation. Yep, he needed hearing aids (no surprise)... but we were then told our insurance would not cover anything they had there. (Don't you think that might have been something you would have told us BEFORE the visit?) We had to go to another audiologist and do the hearing test again before ordering hearing aids. Then he got a bill in the mail to cover some aspect that wasn't covered by insurance (EVERYTHING was covered in the 2nd audiologist visit) . Sorry to say it, but just beware and ask lots of questions before going in to them. To me it almost hinted of a scam just to get you in the door so they can get paid by insurance for giving the hearing test.

We paid about $6000 up front for high-quality hearing aids which included hearing tests and follow up visits and insurance for the hearing aids but I believe even Dr. Link's office visits are on the high side. I believe we paid 150.00 even for a very short and simple office visit to clean ear wax from a hearing aid. My advice would be to call around because a lot of doctors take insurance and submit for you and the ins could pay for even a portion of the hearing aids plus a good portion of hearing tests. I found a great doctor in the Denver tech center less than 10 minutes away from the audiology method. my mom's hearing test according to her new doctor will probably only be about $18 after insurance is billed. Their hearing aid themselves will be about $2000 and that includes insurance for the hearing aids. Office visits will be about half the cost that Dr. Link was charging. I was able to find a Doctor Who takes insurance after only one phone call. If you don't mind the cost, the office staff is fantastic and I believe Dr. Link would take great care of anyone's hearing needs.

She visited this practice because she had questions about the different components of her hearing aids which she never had before and it can be confusing for anyone, regardless of age. Unfortunately, the experience was deeply upsetting. The receptionist was dismissive and unable to answer simple questions about the hearing aid components. Instead of taking the time to explain the differences, my mother was charged $38 simply to have her hearing aids cleaned, even though that was not the primary reason for her visit AND SHE DIDNT ASK FOR IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What happened next was even more concerning. When my mother continued asking questions about her hearing aids, he did not patiently explain them. Instead, he told her she was "crazy," that she "needed help" and a "support system." He then had my mother sit in his office and write down the names and phone numbers of people who could help her, asking whether she was okay, despite there being no medical emergency or behavior that warranted this treatment. It was humiliating and completely inappropriate. Older adults deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. Asking questions about hearing aids does not justify being made to feel incompetent or mentally unstable. After this experience, I read another review describing a similar pattern of behavior involving alarming comments about a patient's cognition. Seeing another family describe concerns about communication and judgment makes me feel our experience may not have been an isolated incident. I am filing a formal complaint because I believe patients especially elderly patients deserve compassionate communication, careful explanations, and respect. I sincerely hope this practice evaluates how patients are treated so no other family has an experience like ours.

So, I'll just leave these quick thoughts. It's been a months, but I thought about it and decided that yes, I did want to leave a little warning for other women. So, if you are a woman who has had any kind of gaslighting or manipulation or DARVO type relations in the past, this probably is NOT the place for you. If you've experienced in your past unhealed men that cannot take any kind of question or pushback and will instead be reactionary then this isn't the place for you. If I hadn't had a pretty recent revelatory education in this bologna I'd have likely had a hard time once I got to the parking lot. But, I self-talked my way down the elevator and to the car and got back on track from the surreal experience. 1. I explained my current situation, which includes visual vertigo and some pretty horrific tinnitis, that made it very difficult to fall asleep and often woke me up. He ran around the explanation of what tinnitis is in such a way that I was completely confused. First saying it's like missing limb syndrome, to which I ask, so is it just like phantom pain that's in my head? to then saying when I mentioned mine his started up. Huh? So, is it real or not? He hoovered over me and pressed me to load an app onto my phone that he wanted me to use. I asked him about some previous treatment thaty 'd received and it sounded like they were attempting similar things. He expressed frustration at that. Not sure why. Felt like he was wanting to be the end all maybe. I was mostly just trying to understand how it worked, how it helped, what was the idea behind it. When I was trying to ask question to grasp some measure of clarity he ended up triggered. It was unprofessional and while I didn't feel frightened for my personal safety, my nervous system was extremely uncomfortable behind that closed door. 2. Listening to how he can't keep the place staffed, losing at least 30 people since Covid, which is a red flag because the office appears very small. Later, I asked for my results and was told they already sent them, but ugh, they'd send them again. I never received the first results. Felt like his lack of accountability and capacity was mirrored by his staff in that later interaction. 3. I had flinched during the hearing test because some of it was just irritatingly painful. I figured it was my extreme lack of sleep due to my CPTSD, etc. I had explained at the top that I'd just safely exited a DV marriage and knew that stress could exacerbate the tinnitis. At the end of my appointment and with no small amount of disgust he said that he'd only seen people that haven't had sleep or are in some kind of serious stress flinch like I did, to which I said, oh, like me. After I figured he must have surmised it was overacting or dramatic on my part, though I fit the exact description he gave. That left me feeling like he hadn't heard a word I'd said. The way he looked at me when I said, oh like me, made me super uncomfortable. Felt like I was in trouble. Super weird. There were plenty of moments that I wanted to get up and walk out of the room without a word. I didn't, mostly due to my trauma. I would encourage anyone, male or female, to do that immediately. If you aren't comfortable you should just bail. I wish I would have. 4. It was a lot of personal discourse and then at the end he jumped up and said, hey, I've done what I can to help you and basically 86ed me. I left feeling confused and frustrated that I'd been sitting there patiently while he freely roamed off topic. 5. I paid the bill I received in the mail. Asked for the hearing test results, which I finally got. I never received any follow-up, the plan he said he'd email me nor did I ever ask for it. Instead I raised my concern with the person that referred him and said, maybe think twice about this guy for women. His manner was relaxed and conversational when he was off-topic or promoting his education or experience or how he needs to be a teacher now instructing those worthy to follow if he could find someone, but it changed to impatience and almost disgust when you tried to keep him on topic and to be specific about what he was trying to express so that you could grasp the word salad. There was no way you could trust the diagnosis because he was so sketchy. It appeared he owned the franchise, but who knows. You couldn't pay me to go back and after really mulling it over it felt irresponsible to not leave a review about how I spent my two hours there.
