*This review is for the Trailride with Cookout only. From what I could see of the facilities on the outside, and the condition of the public bathrooms/showers, I would give the lodging a 1-star. We booked the trail ride with cookout for our last night of our trip. It was expensive (they include a 6% tax and 20% gratuity in all orders), but I thought it would be a fun splurge for our teen who loves horses and to ride. The conditions of the living areas on the drive up started to make me nervous...everything was run down, dusty, and dirty. I know this is a ranch, but it seemed like the place needed TLC. However, the two guides we had were very professional and nice, and I appreciated they gave me a horse that was very gentle when I told them I was nervous. Dinner was already prepared when we got there, so it wasn't much of a "cookout" as it was a picnic dinner at the top. However, dinner was absolutely delicious, and the views of the mountains and river from our table were gorgeous. No water available with dinner, but they did have canned soda. After dinner, you ride approx. 10 more minutes back to the coral you started at. Overall, this was probably the most scenic trailride I've ever done, the food was good, and my family enjoyed it. I don't regret doing it, I just wish I didn't pay so much for it. I would have given it 5-stars if I didn't feel it was overpriced.

In my room and in the communal bathroom, TP dispenser is nonfunctional. Same for the paper towel dispenser.

Rustic does not mean run down. This place was probably nice 10 years ago but is in neglect and in need of repair. GOOD: Close to entrance to Teton National Park and great views (see pictures). Pancakes and waffles are both delicious. The manager was nice. BAD: Where to start... OK, they have a mandatory 20% tip AND still leave in the line for an additional tip to sucker those who don't read the receipt carefully. With that tip and $18 for 2 slices of french toast, the only "service" is bringing out the food. I have to fetch utensils, syrup, etc., and they don't provide water. You're welcome to pay for a disposable cup or bring your own up to the bar and they will fill it. Three pieces of bacon will set you back another $10. Bad coffee is another $5. Breakfast for 4 was $118. OUCH! If you're planning to visit the park, it's only 16 miles to the Jackson Lake Lodge and a much less expensive meal, eh. Want a to-go meal? That's $5 extra charge. BAD: I had to ask to have the communal bathroom cleaned. TP dispenser and hand towel dispenser don't work (see picture). Rooms have no AC (ok, it is rustic) and no screens on the doors/windows (rustic does NOT mean I want mosquitos and flies in my room). No dressers in room and no hooks to hang clothes on. No maid service. Towels are only refreshed every 3 days. BAD: There is some lukewarm water, but no hot water and the flow rate in the shower is so low that people with long hair are destined to spend an eternity trying to get the soap out. BAD: The decks could be really nice, but sag about a foot and have uneven surfaces, so be careful walking! BAD: OK, this isn't totally their fault, but there are mice and mice droppings. We experience this and so did others we talked to. Why not their fault: the Wyoming jumping mouse is endangered AND this place is on forest service land. If you want to hear your neighbor's going to the bathroom, this is the place!

STAY AWAY.....FIND A BETTER PLACE. My wife and I recently stayed at this property - 9/11-12/24.It was one of the roughest hotel stays my wife and I have ever had. -The water didn't work at all some mornings, so we missed some showers. -The room was filthy and the toilet was loose. -The walls of our room were so thin that we caught much of our neighbor conversations wether we wanted to or not. This should be fixed or future guests WARNED. -We are dog lovers, but your dogs kept us awake most of the nights....you need to WARN potential guests of this. Finally, I tried to reach out to the owner two times about this. No response from him.

Buttercup, the horse I rode for the trail ride

A friend and I did a dinner horseback trail ride in late August with heart six. The wrangler guide Tori was fabulous and kind. She made us feel safe and walked us clearly through how to do everything. The dinner was well beyond my expectations - they grilled us dinner and brought out fresh baked pie. Overall my favorite Wyoming experience!!

Easy check in and easy to find the location. we stayed in a room that I had one queen size bed and a bathroom. The view was spectacular. I got a little cold at night and I wasn't sure how to use the heat but there's an extra blanket so it worked. I would say the room was clean not deep clean like there was some dust in certain places but besides that I was happy and I met all my expectations.

Unfortunately I would not recommend this facility at all. The owners do not put any $$ back into the facility. Broken blinds, missing steps, more n more issues. Their only positive is that some of their employees care now try to do the best with what they are provided. DONT BOOK HERE. I wanted the "ranch" but this has really put me off. I hate do give bad reviews...but this location was just sad.

    Dead flies everywhere you look.

The 1 star is for the bed only -- it would have been 2 if we had gotten any sleep. The first thing that needs to be said it's that this place is located directly in front of a kennel! on the night we stayed, there was a very loud party of women upstairs and with no cell service we could even call management to complain. Every time the women got loud, the multitude of dogs in the kennel would start barking at a volume we'd never heard before! There is an obvious fly problem that is out of control and when I read the other reviews, I thought perhaps they were exaggerating and it was just a few dead flies. Let me clarify - there are hundreds - see attached pictures. No cleaning of the common areas at all. Do NOT stay here.

We left about 6:30am to get there at 7:30 (and we were still 10 minutes late). The last 5 miles are on a dirt road, through absolutely gorgeous country. Just be forewarned that it's a dirt road! They were very gracious and allowed us to join the 3 hour ride, despite being 10 minutes late! They have the cutest dogs! Their big St. Bernard, Teddy demanded belly rubs, which I would have happily given all day. They also have the tiniest little pom I have ever seen! So adorable. All of their horses look so healthy and happy. They are obviously very well cared for. Their facilities are clean and well maintained and all of the employees were friendly and engaging. Our wrangler for the trail ride was knowledgeable and fun to chat with. She was attentive without being overbearing. We stopped several times so she could check our saddles and cinch us up, if needed. I don't have to say that the scenery was insanely beautiful. It's Wyoming in the summer, and the Grand Tetons! I felt completely spoiled coming from CA where everything is currently a shade of brown, and dry. Our horses were very well behaved and made the ride easy. Thank you so much to Swift Creek for a beautiful experience! I got to see parts of Wyoming that I would not have been able to otherwise. I will definitely be coming back!

They are the ONLY horseback riding with permits to enter Tetons and Yellowstone . Other Yellowstone horseback riding is through xantera or whatever the main Yellowstone commercial Company that manages all the hotels/restaurants/staff for general stores, very Disneyland/commercial. Wilderness Trails is family owned, rural, one of a kind. We felt like a family on the prairie. They literally plop horse corrals and tents and cooking station in the middle of grand Tetons and Yellowstone on a meadow/prairie like plot of land. All the staff live there in tents and some campers and so you basically join "their family" and live that life. They had a professional chef that came from a Michilin Star restaurant (he was not technically a Michilin chef) but food was amazing and so well Done! We got to eat with our horse wranglers and the chef and felt like part of their family. They all had their own dog and my kids had so much fun running around with all The doggies:) they had a warm outdoor like shower and you are in the middle of nature bathing amd my daughter said it was the best shower of her life! It was my 7 year olds first time horseback riding and she did just fine! My other kids were 10 and 12-they wanted to "live there" and asked if we could have their bday parties there. Was worth every penny! Wish we planned to stay longer

I take picking out tours very seriously, because I hate taking them. I'm one of those people who likes to do things themselves, make my own itinerary, and being on a tour means other people dictate what I want to see. I did a lot of research and found a company I liked. However, the price was a bit outrageous and when I saw my hotel offering the same tour, with pick up from the hotel, not the middle of town, I took a chance. Well, that chance paid off really well because we had a fantastic time. Backcountry Safaris will sometimes use other companies because of demand and we actually were paired with Gus from Teton Wilderness Tours. If this happens to you, don't fret. It was amazing and I will cherish the memories we made with this day for years to come. We did the half day, sunrise Grand Teton Tour. We were the only ones on the tour that day so it felt very exclusive and it was like we paid for a private tour. Gus did everything he could to get us to see wildlife. We got some great shots of moose and we even saw 3, yes 3(!), bald eagles. We also learned a lot about the area and it's history. Highly recommend!
