Almost every time I shop at your store, we show our local IDs to get the 20% kama'aina discount. We spend upwards of $600+ every other month in your Kahului and Kihei stores. I am a Kama'aina. I look local. I sound local. I split my time between CA and Hi for work. My work requires me to have a CA drivers license, I shopped at the Kihei store two days ago and the employees recognized me and gave me the 20% Kama'aina discount. Today I shopped at the Kahului store. Before checking out, I asked the two clerks if I could get the Kama'aina discount (20%). Both said yes. After checking out, I looked at my receipt and noticed I only got a 10% discount. I asked the clerk why it wasn't a 20% discount. I shared that I just shopped at the Kihei store and was given the 20% discount because they recognized me as a regular kama'aina. She said there is a new policy at the beginning of the year that Kama'aina without a HI drivers license would only get 10% discount. I immediately asked the clerk to return my items. I told her I'd come right back with someone from my Ohana to get the 20% discount. I was abruptly told that no returns are allowed. I didn't even move 2' and wasn't allowed a return. I get it that rules are made to be enforced because there are malihini that try to get the Kama'aina discounts. But come on - it's clear that I'm a local - who splits his time between CA and HI and has to have a CA drivers license for work. I try to support local whenever I can. I spend a lot of money in your store and am always buying gifts because I like your brand. However, my extended Ohana & I will no longer be supporting your brand. Many of us are long time supporters.
