I've deduced, after this happened multiple times, that it really doesn't matter if you wait on line in an orderly manner because the employees behind the counter will call out to customers they know to help them first, even when you're right up at the counter. At least today, the cashier who always looks at me like I'm a thief when I'm perusing the aisles, isn't here. One time, I was bending down to look at face moisturizers and this old man whom I thought was a customer flat out stood over me and tried to look at the moisturizer I had in my hand. Then, when I went to pay, that cashier looked behind me at the moisturizers like she was trying to count and make sure the count was right and I didn't steal any.
I really make an effort to shop local but this is just ridiculous. They don't even have a decent selection for many products. They sell one brand of floss piks and it sucks. The strings kept breaking off the piks. You'd think if they were only going to carry one brand, it'd be the best one out there. They also only carry Secret deodorant and only in one scent. It's not even the decent type of Secret deodorant, either.
The last time I was here, I wasn't sure which eye drop would be best for me after looking at their selection because my contacts had dried out my eyes and I needed artificial tears eye drops. I asked the cashier if I could ask the pharmacist and she pointed to where the eye drops were and said to pick from there. After selecting one, I waited to check out. I was totally passed over as they helped their friend who came in to say hello. I put the eye drop and lip balm I was holding back in their respective spots and walked across the street to Duane Reade. When I asked for an eye drop suggestion, the pharmacy tech consulted w the pharmacist then came out from behind the counter to show me the one they'd recommend. As much as I'm not a fan of chains and that chain in particular, at least they're trained on the importance of customer service... for ALL their customers and not just the ones they know personally. I only go to Health Star now to pick up prescriptions. As desperately as I need face moisturizer right now and I'm standing right in front of it while I wait for my prescription, I'd rather not spend my money at an establishment where I don't feel like a valued customer. read more
