I disclosed that I have EDS, which causes joint instability. Faith Wang said she didn't know what EDS was, but assured me she could 'fix me' anyway. During the massage, Faith Wang was dismissive when I expressed pain, saying it would hurt but I'd feel better once it was done. Though I sometimes left feeling better, which made me trust her more, Faith Wang's aggressive confidence and dismissiveness made me hesitant to confront her afterward about the injuries I sustained. During the massage on August 26th, I felt something go wrong with my shoulder. Immediately after, I lost function and range of motion. I sought medical care starting September 18th at urgent care, followed by my primary care doctor on September 25th. An MRI on October 10th confirmed a supraspinatus shoulder tendon injury, and a later MRI confirmed a quad tendon injury. The shoulder injury caused the most intense pain. I had an issue with chronic shoulder pain that I worked on with PT and started coming to Faith for deep massage work. She was able to help work with a deeper massage style using her elbows and smaller strokes. It was not a relaxing massage but she explained it was needed to help work out the issues in this area and she has worked with frozen shoulders before. After several sessions and over time, my shoulder pain has improved with her massage and PT. I am glad to have some relief from the pain. My range of shoulder mobility has improved, without pain. I struggle a lot with writing negative reviews since it is someone's livelihood. This is difficult to write. I had pretty bad leg pain from working out so I scheduled a massage with the first person I could find who had an opening. Intake was very perfunctory and there were no questions about surgeries or prior injuries. I specifically explained that my legs were the main thing that hurt. She immediately dug in with very deep small fast circles with her knuckle and worked on my shoulders, spine, and back. This didn't stop once. She dug so hard that my traps were spasming. I'm no stranger to massage and have experienced several different modalities, including sports massage, Swedish, and two full Rolfing series. But I have never felt as if I had been ignored until now. I asked for a receipt that my FSA would accept (state license number, full name, business address, and specific service provided), and didn't get this. It's hard for me to give a 1 star. I don't want to cause problems for someones business and maybe she is better suited for a different type of massage but my experience was not great and I wish I should give even less stars. I'm 30 weeks pregnant and went in for a prenatal massage. I've been getting a few a month through my pregnancy and hand an urgent need due to some hip pain and couldn't get in right away with my regular gal. Typically at this stage in pregnancy I would be placed on my side with some pillows to support my stomach and back. She had a forward facing wedge pillow and instructed my stomach went into the cut out. I expressed that my stomach was too big for the hole and she said it wouldn't be for the whole massage and that I did fit. I obliged and she aggressively went to work on my shoulders and spine. I was so worried the whole massage that she was putting too much pressure on mt lower back and pushing into my abdomen. She kept insisting everything was fine. She never flipped me and I spent the 90 minutes on my stomach (some weight supported by the wedge pillow but not a comfortable position and one that I now worry to have been dangerous to my baby. The massage was not therapeutic in the sense that a prenatal massage should be and felt more like an aggressive sports massage. Faith used her elbows for the majority of the massage and pushed really hard in areas a pregnant person shouldn't be pushed inclidjbf pushing my hips aggressively into the bed she also rubbed my ears so hard and fast that they are now red and swollen. I should have gotten up and left but I kept trying to convince myself it would get better and I didn't want to be rude. I'm worried that she's caused my harm than good. Hope that others have a better experience but I really don't believe she's been formally trained in prenatal/pregnancy massage and I'm worried I could have put myself and my unborn baby in a compromised position by getting this massage. I had been dealing with chronic back pain for years. Chiropractors, massage therapy, nerve ablation, shots; nothing worked long term. I started seeing Faith because I pulled my shoulder and was looking for some relief and ended up continuing once I saw more long term relief. Faith is less massage therapist and more trigger point. She looks for muscles and tendons that are sensitive and works on those locations to relieve their pain. She would find places I didn't even know hurt and would gently work on them. With each session, you could see areas becoming less problematic. I went to about 7 sessions, every 5-6 days before I say I didn't need to go as regularly. Sitting was the worst for me, extreme tailbone pain, which is now so much more tolerable. I signed up for an 1.5 massage last night, hoping to get help with lower back pain and really bad pain in both of my achilles tendons. I could tell from the start that this was going to be better than your typical massage. Faith is incredibly thorough and seems to really care about your well being. This was clear throughout the session and afterwards when she explained what I should be doing at home, in between sessions. Don't let her size fool you, she is unbelievably strong! I have been using massage therapy as a way to treat my pain for many years on and off and have done so on both East and West Coasts and in East Asia. Some therapists use minimal effort and charge minimal rates, some use minimal effort and charge high rates, and some really take the time to understand the pain. The third type typically charges high rates. Faith is the third type, but with very reasonable prices if you purchase the gift card (on her website or in person) and are consistent with treatment. She explained to me that my muscle pain needed consistent work over time. At first I was skeptical, but gave it a try. Each time I visited I noticed a gradual improvement in pain in my neck, shoulders, lower back, glutes, and legs/feet. If you are in pain, I highly suggest doing 2 hour sessions every 5 - 7 days over a period of a few months. It's worth every penny! Massage therapy should be done frequently at the beginning, and then to the point where appointments are simply a monthly maintenance all other things being equal. The biggest mistake most customers, like myself make is waiting until the pain the unbearable and then dialing in....muscle pain is not worth putting off! I've been going to Faith for 2 years and she has helped alot with my chronic shoulder and neck pain. This is not a typical spa massage. Her first sessions can be intense, but after going to her for 2 years, my body has improved. Her massage style helps heal your stress tension. The pressure is similar to rolfing (spot treatments with deep pressure) or rolling on a foam roller. For me, it's relieving but many people might not be able to handle it. I used to go to many massage therapists at spas all over the country, but I felt their deep tissue massages were not deep enough for me since I would tense back up in a short time. I started to go twice a week in the beginning, combining my chiropractor sessions for first 6 months. It had a huge improvement in my chronic pain. Now I go see her once every 2 weeks since I can feel how much my pain has reduced. After each session, I try to drink lots of water and even take an epsom salt bath so that my muscles feel less sore the next day. WORST MASSAGE EVER!! Don't like leaving negative reviews but this was by far the WORST massage experience I've ever had. This lady just doesn't listen and does what ever she wants. I read from other reviewers that Faith did not address their problems area...i decided to still give her a try and made sure to communicate several times I wanted my lower back addressed. I booked a 90 minute massage...kept reminding thru the massage to address my lower back...SHE NEVER DID!! I told her exactly what needed to be worked on. She did not listen. My regular message therapist moved to Mexico due to Covid so I found her on Yelp and read the positive reviews. I mentioned that when I scheduled an appointment that I needed a deep tissue message on the thighs and hips (I has something similar three years ago). She told me she new what to do. I booked a two hour massage and she spent a lot of time on my shoulders, spine, a little on my lower back, and none on my legs. Last night I woke up twice due to pain in my legs.
