They are very helpful with teaching me how to modify exercises around my injuries. I have found the work out to be addictive! As they said "best addiction ever!" They offer classes six days a week Dash morning, afternoon, and evening. There are also many different levels of classes and some for beginners to learn the basic moves and correct positions. As I researched nearby gyms prior to my move, Altus stood out - they had great reviews online and their philosophy/program offering seemed to align with what I was seeking. John was very responsive to my initial inquiry and after I got settled, I went to meet him for an initial consult. Our conversation gave me full confidence this was the place for me. I love strength training, so I wanted to work with a trainer to get me back into the routine of lifting weights, but I need flexibility - I travel frequently for work and often have to book trips last minute. During our conversation, we talked through everything - my history with strength training, my work and travel schedule, nutrition, injuries, goals, expectations, budget --- it was the most thorough consult I've had with any gym. I also had a preliminary session to determine my baseline (strength, range of motion, etc.) and get all the data measurements, which we use and remeasure to track my progress over time. Now that I've been going to Altus for a few months, I can genuinely say the entire experience - and Altus team - have been amazing. I immediately felt welcome and I appreciate the trainers so much. I've been working with Aaron for my individual sessions and squad sessions and it's been great. He's truly a 'coach' in that we're always talking through each set (about my form, the muscle groups we're focused on, how I'm feeling after each set, why we're doing certain things, etc.) -- it's educational, engaging, and fun. And he's always flexible with my crazy work schedule - accommodating changes when I have to go out of town, providing workouts through the mobile app that I can do virtually when I'm gone, squeezing in sessions when nothing about my availability is 'normal', and checking in regularly between sessions to see how I'm doing. I've also joined several classes and they're always fun - Heather, Cheri, Brandi --they'll kick your butt, but you'll love every minute of it. :) the Versa climber was a new piece of equipment for me --- it's killer but awesome! If you're looking for a gym that will focus on what you need and trainers who will champion you every step of the way to reaching your goals --- head over to Altus. They're the best!

I signed up for a Versa climber 45 minute class (FYI - you can sign up for your first class for free). When I walked up the steps of the studio, I was blown away by the entire gym setup, in addition to the classrooms. They truly have something for everyone! When I signed in for class, I was given a heart monitor to track my workout and taken back to the climber room. The instructor, Cody, was so welcoming and full of energy! I was a little worried since this was my first time taking this type of class, and he made me feel so comfortable and continued to motivate us throughout the entire 45 minutes of class. This workout was HARD, but I felt so good after and would definitely come back to Altus to check out their other options in the future

When I have friends who are rehabbing an injury, I confidently send them to work one -on-one with Allie, (or the others) and they always get what they need, and make progress with their issues. Whether it is Pilates, Yoga or BootyBarre, Eqpittsburgh has the best instructors, a lovely bright studio, and a warm and welcoming group of students in their classes. Allie, the owner is an expert, an innovator and a pleasure to know and work with.

My Pilates instructor in Las Vegas asked a few fellow former NYC Rockettes she knew that live in the Pittsburgh area on where I should go downtown for Pilates and both said MOXIE. Although there are group class options at MOXIE, I personally only take private instruction. As such, I was very glad to find myself working with Aubrey at Moxie (owner and instructor). She is the real deal on "classic" Pilates instruction. Having worked with her now for several months, I know I am in great hands. Despite having done Pilates for many years and maybe having done more advanced contemporary instruction for the last many years, I feel as if Aubrey has brought me back to the basics and I am getting stronger and better by concentrating on the fine details of form that many miss in the basics or forget after many years. She keeps it fresh, is fun and is great with the minute details of verbal queuing. Aubrey is good at her craft, continues to further her expertise and skills through continued instruction herself and has a genuine interest in my overall wellness. I would happily refer Aubrey and MOXIE to anyone who is interested in Pilates. Moxie has several instructors and class options available. I found the box/gym because my high school friend took me to his gym while I was back in town and have been joining him and his family for the past 2 years when I go back to where we grew up. The space reeks of nostalgic CF gyms and that makes me yearn for the days when it wasn't as corporate as some places have become. It's situated in an industrial park and lacks the creature comforts that some boxes have embraced (like A/C, for example). It's beyond clean for a CF gym and has oodles of equipment and devices to ensure you get a proper workout and instruction from one of the many qualified and excellent coaches. The membership embraced me and my loud nonsense (personality) which isn't always the case when I'm visiting other CF locations. They are all supportive, engaging to new people (there have been other instances where I wasn't the only drop-in that class), and there's no territorial or ego struggles among the members. Alex has created a culture that embodies what the name means and has meant for the past 2 decades. I can't recommend TPA/CF enough for people in the area or those looking for a place to drop in and not be judged or held at arm's length the entire time. This is a place for fitness, improvement, and celebration of the fitness journey. What Alex has created here is something truly special and I will be returning soon.

The studio is designed for small classes making it easy for modifications based on individual needs. I have been practicing Pilates there for 8 months, on average 2-3 days per week and enjoyed a unique class each time - instructors keep it fresh and interesting. NEVER in my life did I think I would do spinning but because of the instructors and clientele, I am slowly being converted.
