They were actually available and could help! That may sound still to anyone who hasn't had years of difficulty trying to get your child someone in a specialized field of therapy with little to no success. It's VERY HARD and we have struggled. So after leaving a voicemail (only one) when I first called and Elizabeth actually called me back in just a few minutes surprised me greatly. Then to speak to someone who knew what you and your family have been through for years without judgement or shock, I was grateful. But when Elizabeth set up an appointment for my daughter with a doctor experienced with her issues, I almost wept. We were able to get my daughter seen with Dr. Aronda just a few weeks. I knew she was special. I knew this one could really help my daughter. And my daughter knew it too. Dr. Aronda has been a godsend for our family! She just knows what to do and say. She has a very soft, reassuring way about her that my daughter has responded to very positively. She comes out so happy and bouncy after every appointment she has with her. But even after all of this, what shocked me the most was SEEING MY DAUGHTER PUT TO USE THE METHODS SHE AND DR. ARONDA HAVE BEEN WORKING ON during their session times. I almost fell over! My daughter has never done that before! This is actually working! My daughter is so much lighter and happier. She feels heard. She feels validated. She feels understood. She knows everyone she has spoken to at DBT Arizona cares about her. The only thing she has ever complained about was group therapy, but to know my daughter is know expect that kind of thing. I will shout praises from the mountain tops, and I have, about DBT Arizona. The ONLY thing that is difficult for us is the cost. They don't do insurance and they are considered out-of-network. Luckily, my insurance covers reimbursement for cases like this; not fully covered, but enough to help greatly. I look at the cost as an investment in my daughter because it is. And it's working. IT'S ACTUALLY WORKING. So if you're reading this and you have struggled like I have to find someone who can actually help your child, this is the place. They know what you're going through. They know how to help you. They know how to help your child. And it works.

Our child is now more stable, emotionally balanced, and less anxious, among many other symptoms associated with mental health challenges. We invested time and resources into DBT and over time, our child's health improved. We committed to group sessions, one on one sessions, and family sessions. For the better health of our child, we believed this was a marathon rather than a sprint. DBT provided the coaching, advice, skills and diagnosis needed to understand what is happening, what we can expect, best ways to make effective changes, and achieve positive results. This was and is a difficult journey, and with DBT our child and family is in a much better place. He also assured me that I did nothing wrong and therapist aren't allowed to reserve unscheduled spots here. That has also been my experience in the past with my old therapist. If I didn't schedule out far enough, then another client could schedule and I'd just have to miss out or schedule the next available day that that time was open. It's first come first serve so what Stacy did was wrong. I was then paired with Dr. D whom I saw for a few months and definitely felt much safer. Then due to availability, I switched to Sally and wow. She is the perfect therapist for me. I don't plan on leaving Desert Sage while they have a gem like Sally there. My husband and I both briefly saw practitioners from Desert Sage last year. I worked with Kristin a few times over the phone and I found her to be incredibly impassionate, if not a bit stuffy. She didn't seem interested when I expressed specific concerns, nor did she seem interested in committing to some sort of a diagnosis. I realize that may sound strange, but I've struggled with my mental health for basically my entire life. At this point, I can guarantee I'm not neurotypical. It took a lot to actually see a practitioner. Perhaps I should have been clear of this when I walked into the room (or, um, answered her Zoom), but I wanted professional feedback so I could truly identify some problems, and then work on them. She was happy to try medicating me after a single, brief conversation, but wasn't willing to try diagnosing after 4 sessions or so. I finally figured seeing her just wasn't worth the stress, and have gone back to sweeping things under the rug and playing doctor with myself. Not ideal, but I've found more benefit in doing that than continuing to work with her. My husband, on the other hand, worked with Daniel for substance abuse. Of course my husband liked him at the time, considering I found Daniel to be incredibly unprofessional and generally removed anytime I sat in for their sessions. There was never any talk of trying to identify a diagnosis or triggers when working with Daniel, which I figured could be helpful when it comes to substance abuse. Maybe that's not unusual in psychiatry, I honestly don't know. Regardless, seeing him always felt like a waste of time. I felt like Daniel wasn't interested in his work (IE helping people, which is kind of shitty on him). Though he was happy to bring up his own poor life choices during one session, like not setting himself up for retirement. Super professional, Kirsten and Daniel. Desert Sage. Thanks for the help. Our lives have been changed. (Not really. I'm quite obviously being sarcastic here. I really wish I could have those copays back. We've had to figure things out on our own, and you wanna know something funny? The military has helped by husband get his head screwed on more than these pompous lazy asses. Kind of an ironic, perhaps even unoriginal twist when it comes to tacking addiction, but the government managed to get more positive results from him than this practice did. The government? Helping someone? Results? Now, isn't that saying something.)

Cool cool. The front desk gal calls me back and leads with "we aren't going to prescribe you benzos." Literally didn't ask about anything else or greet me or anything. On the forms I specifically stated I'm seeking therapy for OCD. There was no request made for med management, or that I needed to see a prescriber. It took me a second to collect myself, but I told her that was extremely unprofessional, and how dare she turn the tables on someone seeking help trying to accuse them of being pill seeking. I told her to put herself in a patient shoes for just a second and imagine they are finally brave enough to reach out and ask for help, only to be met with a terrible attitude and a forced discussion of meds that was never even brought up in the request, other than on their paperwork where they wanted to know current medications. Why are they asking about medications just to use that information to use it against patients? She said she would give that feedback to the doctors... And I said "no, you are the one making these phone calls. You need to learn to have some tact and how to greet people. Learn to ask questions before you jump to conclusions." I guess it's a blessing this place was a solid NO before I even met the doctor. If that's how their front office staff handles patients, I can't imagine the level of care is anything to write home about.

I've been in and out of different Psychiatrists since I was 16 due to an extensive history of abuse and following mental health disorders and Dr. Gomez treated me with respect and without bias even with my highly stigmatized diagnosis. He's the first Psychiatrist that didn't make me feel bad for not wanting to take certain medications. I feel heard at our appointments and he listens to my input about meds I want to take and meds I don't want to take. I was really iffy about seeing a male provider because of my PTSD around older men in general but I'm really glad I found him. He has made me feel safe, heard, and respected. I would definitely recommend Dr. Gomez.

I struggle so much with focusing and paying attention to tasks for work, school, and even home. He does not seem to judge me, then again I don't tell him things that I told my last psychologist because he does not specialize in that field. I appreciate that he takes the time to suggest helpful assignments at the end of a session. He emailed me some articles once so that I could learn more about some topics we touched upon.

I had an appointment with Dr. Tregoob in 2025 that left me very disappointed…read more During the appointment, I came away feeling that my concerns were not being addressed. After I mentioned that I was moving out of my parents' home, much of the session was spent with Dr. Tregoob looking for apartments on his phone. From my perspective, this did not feel like a therapeutic exercise. Instead, he periodically pointed out available apartments in good areas and encouraged me to act quickly if I found one I liked. My recollection is that he also arrived late and ended the appointment early, and there were long periods of silence during the session. The reason this is not a 1-star review is that I had seen Dr. Tregoob several years earlier and found him knowledgeable about anxiety management. While I had noticed some similar time-management issues during those earlier visits, I felt he demonstrated genuine expertise in treating anxiety. Unfortunately, my 2025 appointment was a very different experience.

I responded I guess cuz I'm trying to die it wasn't even medicine I was taking it was my allergy she then realized what she was doing but not anyone I would want to care for me.
