From the online scheduling to the friendly support staff, the whole experience feels welcoming. Working with Dr. Jennifer Burruel has been life-changing. She's approachable, real, and I've never felt judged. I used to think therapy was just talking to someone sympathetic, but she showed me it's so much more. She's helped me heal and learn tools that have made a difference in my career, my relationships, and how I feel day to day. I feel more confident, more capable, and genuinely at peace. If you're looking for a therapist who's highly skilled, truly cares, genuinely herself, and who will respectfully and supportively encourage you to grow, Dr. Burruel is it. I should also mention that those I've referred to the practice have reported positive experiences working with Emily and Maritza as well.

I've been working with various therapists for the last 3+ years and while I've had several really great ones - Dr. Burruel's expertise, honesty, and genuine compassion is unmatched. I originally started therapy because I had no one else to talk to about deep or important things, but have stayed over the years for much more. In the last year I've been able to talk through major career changes and plans, relationship struggles, mindset changes, healthier and happier life choices, and honestly sometimes just to vent and talk to a highly educated person who is an excellent listener. I've never felt judged, uncomfortable, or pushed in any direction. Lastly, another very important variable for me is the quality of the admin work - or the people/team responsible for billing, questions, and general communication between sessions. Golda and the team at Achieve Counseling and Wellness are the gold standard! Golda has always been very helpful, responsive, and has done everything for me from rescheduling, fighting billing with insurance companies, and answering any questions I have. I've left a lot of great providers because of the incompetency of the support staff - that is certainly not the case here. If you're new to therapy, I can't think of a more safe and welcoming place to start. If you're not new, stop wasting your time and switch to the hardest working, most thoughtful, and well organized professional in the state of AZ!

5 Stars -- Freedom Psychiatry…read more I have been a patient at Freedom Psychiatry since June 2025, and my experience has been consistently exceptional. Both Ruth and Dr. Paul Okoronkwo, PMHNP, exemplify professionalism, authenticity, and responsiveness in every interaction. They take the time to listen, provide thoughtful guidance, and ensure that care is both effective and compassionate. Since beginning treatment, my anxiety, ADHD symptoms, and sleep have all improved significantly. The level of support and follow‑through from this team is truly outstanding. Freedom Psychiatry operates with the kind of integrity and patient‑centered focus that is rare to find. Highly recommended.

Their input is just as valuable as his. Having him as my doctor, I don't have ANY sense of the judgment or inferiority that most every other addictionologist has. The most Humble and caring guy I know. So caring, in fact, that I was about to give up. But On my first visit, I brought in the Ashton Manual (a highly successful tapering protocol developed by Dr. Ashton in the U.K. for those wanting to quit benzodiazepines) and explained to him how unsuccessful I had been in the past trying to get off Xanax...(5 grand-mal seizures..actually the last was at Desert Cove Recovery Center, where my "addiction specialist" weaned me off far too quickly- despite my suggestions and pleas to slow down or not use clonazepam as a taper drug.{NOT the recommended choice for BZD tapering protocol} Anyways, not only did he agree to try it, he made copies of the entire book and read it himself for future use. This changed my life and hopefully it will change yours as well. Now for the review: I have done several rounds of infusions, but I felt my symptoms significantly improved after my first few treatments, but am incredibly happy that I chose to do more. I had researched Ketamine treatments for a while, but I was skeptical and thought it was honestly, a bit weird. I had tried meditation, different antidepressants and anxiety medications as well as extensive therapy and DBT treatments. None have worked for me. I was able to make my initial contact by text which I thought was a huge blessing, in fact, I have never had to call (for those of you who might have anxiety issues). Responses were quick and every question I had was answered in amazing time. The staff here is so nice, caring, and understanding. In fact, I consider them all friends after working through my struggles. I have never felt uncomfortable here. The rooms here are comfortable and don't feel like you're in a medical office, but more like relaxing in your living room. Things that have been fixed in my life due to this treatment: - The burning in the chest anxiety feeling, (like if you are speeding and a cop pulls behind you with the lights on) which I have had for much of my adult life. - Any feelings of MAJOR depression that I have had are gone. - I tend to be a lot less short with people and can think things out before I would normally let my emotions get in the way. - I feel like I get a full nights rested sleep. I used to nap every day at work on my lunch break and at home during the pandemic, now even if I get a small amount of sleep, I still feel rested. - If I wake up in the middle of the night I can go right back to sleep. Before my treatment I would toss and turn thinking about literally anything, even things that happened years ago that I could not change. - I am more patient and I feel like a lot of my ADHD symptoms seem to be close to gone. I can concentrate again and finally keep my focus enough to read and do house chores, which previously used to be near impossible. - I got to a point where I was smoking cannabis and getting drunk, every day to cope. Since I have started the treatment, I no longer feel the need to drink as much and just keep it to once or twice during the weekends. I have extremely limited my smoking since treatment started and do not even feel like I need to do it as much. If any of these things seem like something that you have gone through, please give this a shot. I cannot say enough how much it has changed my life for the better. (This was taken from my google review and edited for 11/1/21) Feel free to contact me on socials as well if you have any questions about AKS or the ketamine infusion process.

I would not recommend this company to anyone considering an Intervention for their loved one!! We are now struggling to get reimbursement from Medicare for our out of pocket expenses. I've been struggling with debilitating mental health issues for a year now and was ready to take control of my life. After I called the office the woman who answered me was very dismissive and patronizing towards me. I generally understand how my health insurance plan works but I still wanted to verify the details. Every time I've gone to a doctor's office I was told the amount I'd have to pay upfront before I schedule and am able to see the doctor. The woman told me they don't do that (verifying insurance details) and to call back when I figure it out and was quite eager to get me off the phone, treating me as if I had asked her something completely absurd, irrational, and uncommon. I was only referring to the amount I needed to get in the door, I can handle any bills sent to my address at a later time, I just needed to budget everything so I could seek treatment. I understand that doctors and other medical staff deal with a lot of patient abuse and harassment and I'm empathetic to the fact that it's not an easy trade to be in, hence why I haven't and still never disrespect, argue with, or harass healthcare workers, but regardless--when dealing with mentally ill individuals in a health care setting there has to be a level of empathy when communicating and treating them, especially because a good portion of patients seeking psychiatric treatment have a history of being bullied, abused, neglected, and/or experienced psychological abuse at one point in their lives--if not their entire lives. Her snarky tone towards me as well as her eluding to me being unreasonable and unintelligent by asking about insurance details and upfront payment felt like a 3 minute humiliation ritual.
