I drove as fast as I could in stop & go traffic. There was no way to call in such traffic and they did not call me. I arrived 13 min late. I was informed the Dr just left because he thought I was a no show. What?!!! On Saturday I had to replace my brake pads...no wonder since traffic would speed up to 60mph then STOP! I have been going here for over a year, and I've been getting a lot of texts to confirm my appointment, but I couldn't get into the app to answer. So, I went down to what I thought was my appointment, but was told that my appointment was cancelled because I didn't fill out paperwork 48 hrs. prior to my appointment. I had no idea of this paperwork. I had to reschedule for the following week. The day prior, I was sent this paperwork via email, completed it, and sent it back. I walk in and they say I have no appointment still because I didn't fill out the paperwork? They made me fill out and sign what I had already signed and sent. I was again rescheduled today, the 30th of July. I wasn't scheduled due to a misunderstanding about the primary and secondary insurance. I never had a problem with this; all of a sudden, they can't see how it went through the insurance process on my other payments that were processed without a problem. I am going there for my mental health, at least I thought I was. I was in two wars and have PTSD with other issues, and don't need these confrontations. I have thoughts I can't express right now. Making the appointment was easy. Drove over an hour for an in person 1st meeting and the Psychiatrist didn't even show up. Had to do the meeting on one of their computers in the LEAST private room ever. I could hear people checking in and out, so they can definitely hear the entire conversation going on. I'm seeking help for substance abuse disorder and I've been struggling a lot to stay up... but I can't sleep, concentrate, manage my job or my life without extreme difficulties. My anxiety seems to be worse than ever and my mood is unstable. I reached out asking for help and received 1 reply asking for my last name and then nothing. It's my responsibility to stay clean and get my life together. But I was literally about to lose my job if I couldn't complete a major project. When I saw this place has 2 stars on Yelp, I was like yep! So it wasn't just me!! This place has many different psychiatrists. They all are under the blanket of "2nd chance treatment center" and so while I can't tell you about each individual doctor. I'm sure there is some good ones, I can FULLY warn you, everything outside your appointment is difficult. If you are trying to call this establishment to get any info, move appointment time or contact your doctor then plan to be met with 6-8 minute phone wait EVERY TIME. Then also plan to be met by a front desk that is condescending and unhelpful, and the women I spoke with "Camille" shocked me with the attitude she gave me at no prompting on my part, as I was being calm, cool and polite. The reason I am giving 2 stars is that in the begining 4 months it worked perfect the dr prescribed me exact medication to treat my severe narcolepsy and depression and suddenly my dr's get fired and on top of it they didn't bring me down on my dosage instead they decided to cut me off constantly and leave me dry on withdrawals , they promised me that they will give me a call with a prescription on my medication but this is the second day I am in horrible withdrawal. I started my treatment there about 4 years ago, I have held back my negative comments until I was DONE seeing them. From the beginning it was a $h** Show, from 3-4 hour waits every week (that only improved once covid hit and most appointments were telemedicine), switching providers 5 times in the first 3 years (although I really did like my last 2), to finally; the last straw for me was yesterday when I got a call 2 HOURS BEFORE MY APPT, saying they no longer prescribe the medication I have been on for 2+ years. They've known about this policy change since May 1st but told me 2 hours before my appointment (May 16th). I'm leaving the country for 2 weeks on the 20th, NO I do not want to try a new medication when I have no idea how it will effective me, NO I am not going to waste my time and money (and my insurances money) This was going to be my 6th provider change since I started. I believe there WERE doctors there who truly cared about your recovery and making you better, but they are no longer there. I believe they were pushed out by the higher ups due to greed and truly not caring if people got better. Thank God my last provider helped me enough that I could walk away from here and find a doctor outside this place to prescribe the last medication I needed to taper off of (at the last minute of course since I found out 2 HOURS before my appointment time) Communication between office staff sucks, you hear one thing from one person and something completely different from someone else. Office staff trying to go against what the doctor said. Oh, last thing, good luck trying to get through on a phone call to someone who can actually help you. Hold times of 45 minutes to an hour, never have I had I been to an office like that. I've been seeing Dr. Gerwe for about a year now via Telehealth and he is wonderful. He truly cares, takes his time to explain all medications and possible options, and does not make me feel as if I am drug seeking for the anxiety medication (a benzodiazepine) I've been taking for 6 years. He is truly wonderful and I am grateful to have him as my Psychiatrist. I am bipolar and with his help, I was able find a medication regimen that works so well that I am to return back to work and control my mood and impulsivity for the first time in several years. They just introduced a new patient portal which hopefully will resolve their slow phone lines (my only complaint). The poor reviews here are understandable, as their office staff can be slow to respond and at times come off as rude, however, I do think it's worth giving this place a chance for Dr. Gerwe and the excellent patient care he provides. read more

Beware that they will charge new patients for a UA test that is not at all necessary if you aren't prescribed a controlled substance. I'm currently waiting in their office to take my UA test they charged me for and I have never waited so long to urinate in a cup. Calling the mainline is tedious with wait times but they are very polite and make sure I get my questions answered. Biggest critique is there is no follow up call to schedule next appointment. Absolutely horrible experience with 2nd chance treatment. Been begging for a bridge for my daughter's medication for 3 weeks. Finally had an appointment yesterday at 330 at the 2nd chance on ganzle in San tan. Got a call the day before to confirm an in person appointment. I'm like Absolutely we will be there. Well no one bothered to let me know that our location has been permanently closed down! I was assured YET AGAIN that someone would call me as a priority. Lies that didn't happen either. So, in the meantime my daughter's grades have plummeted. I do not know what is going on within this company but man yall need to get it together! read more

2nd Chance "treatment"(?????) center is THE WORST!!!!! Just like a number of the other like-minded comments: The dr. I have now (Boulware) -(I'm not the least bit afraid or apprehensive to name names: they DESERVE their names smeared through the mud. The same shit they make the patients have to LIVE in, day after day after miserable day. Not only do the doctors not care much more than about how much money they'll get. 15 minutes? Ha! More like FIVE minutes, but the greedy quacks charge for an hour, or at least 30 minutes, even though I've NEVER spent more than 10-15 minutes in any psychiatrist's office! Now my doctor is arbitrarily taking my off the ONLY medication that's EVER helped the extreme anxiety/moderate agoraphobia (my major depression, at least, is being helped with the right a/d)-so WTF am I supposed to do about treating my anxiety when they take me all the way down? Seems like all shrinks in general just tell you "oh, your antidepressant will ease your anxiety" BS!!! NO IT WON'T and don't think it's from a lack of trying. Plus this guy was saying dumb stuff like "well, you could try Lyrica or Neurontin (gabapentin) - I started laughing - couldn't help it: neither of those meds do ANYTHING for anxiety: Neurontin is a medicine for Bipolar disorder and Lyrica is just an antidepressant. They are worthless for anyone who has any sort of tolerance from taking stronger anxiolytics in order to correctly treat the problem. If you're looking for a psychiatrist or drug rehab (outpatient) place: STAY FAR, FAR, FAR away from this money-grubbing, corporate garbage dump that cares little to nothing about the patients' health. They only care about how much MONEY those patients are going to give this joke of a place that doesn't NEED to be taking all this money from a lot of people who are on fixed incomes and/or just don't have this huge money, as if one was going to some analyst in Beverly Hills. Trust me, there's NOTHING glamourous about 2nd Chance and there is NO REASON to gouge the patients - and the other posters I've read here are also right - the girl up front who answers the phone is a nasty, rude, rude person. I wanna start out by saying I never write reviews but this is by far the worst experience I've ever had with a medical center and I've been treated in third world countries. I had attempted to get seen twice from two different providers. The first time I tried, I filled out all of the EXTENSIVE paperwork online TWICE. I go in to the office 15minutes prior to my appointment and check in, 15 mins later the girl at the front desk calls me up and says none of my paper work went through and that I'd have to fill it all out again. So I take the literal 40 pages of paperwork and sit down start filling it out then go back up there and double check, asking again "are you sure its not in your system at all?' The girl moves her mouse around in a circle looks at the screen and then back at me and says nope. I have a tight schedule and didnt have an hour to waste filling out paperwork for the third time so I say Im gonna have to cancel. I try and schedule AGAIN with another provider this time I get a call and the receptionist is polite and brought up that paperwork and I told her I filled it out online a couple of days ago but the office "couldn't find it." She said oh that's weird ITS RIGHT HERE. Like are you f'ing kidding me!?!?!! Nonetheless I schedule my appointment again for today anyways. 30 mins before hand they call again to confirm but this time tell me the provider I requested was unavailable and they scheduled me with someone else. This place is a joke and should be embarrassed to call themselves a treatment center. What a lucky mistake!!! I chose her from ZocDoc because she had availability within a week and she is a Psychiatrist not an NP- who are great but I have multiple issues and medications so I need a Dr. She is AMMMMMAAAAZZZZZZINNNGGGGGG!!! It was the first time in six years a doctor listened to all of my issues. In my first visit, she identified a major drug interaction that was causing breathing problems. She identified another issue I was having as a drug side effect. A crippling issue that is now just fading away. She actually listed to me. I'm super grateful she just moved here right when I needed a doctor. I have to say, I can't believe she is in this practice. It's mainly an addiction assistance practice. Very clean, new office. A very patient and helpful team. And she would be the best regardless of the reason so I'm sure she is a great addiction doctor. I guarantee that one of my former psychiatrist's competitors will snatch her up into a general practice and charge more. I'll follow her anywhere. read more

Dont go here. Appt confirmation said 130 via email. Made on their website. 2nd email with forms from Jessica said 320. So I went to website and booked 130 again. And emailed Jessica to instruct her of the 320 being inaccurate and that I had set another for 130. Did all the paperwork online. Got there 125. Sat 15 minutes and they said appt for 320. And online/virtual. I definitely chose in person at 130 both times. They even then said if it was to be in person, it would have to be phx office not Arrowhead office. I had only seen and chosen Arrowhead office. This office is obviously incompetent. I asked what they could do. They just sat looking at me. So I told them I was leaving and would find another practice. This is not how you treat patients seeking help. read more

This review is specifically for Dr. A. Skelton. I've been consulting with Dr. Skelton for quite some time, given I have to see her every week as required by my insurance. My initial psych eval went very well, and she was a great listener and impressed Hope that I will be able to overcome my issues. It is not med management after that, and every appointment she never has disappointed me as she remembers very well my symptoms, and always seem to know the right thing to say that make me feel better. Thus I truly recommend her. Since I'm leaving a feedback, I may as well add that Grant, at the office is very proactive and will resolve any issues at the pharmacy if it's the last thing he needs to complete before business close. Dr. Patel is hands down the BEST psychiatrist, I have ever seen in my life!! I am extremely sensitive to meds and what can happen with side effects, even while taking the lowest doses. Dr. Patel is there with you every step of the way! She will allow your appts to be as long as you need, truly listens, patient and is very skilled at thinking outside the box! My only compliant like the other reviews is never being able to get through when I call the office or having messages returned. Note to office: First time was "only" an hour, so maybe you just have to time it well. But why cram us together like animals? It's never easy taking care of folks who are seeking help for addictions. I'll say that first. As far as the intention of this place, I would logically assume, the quality of care is not good. The person I was with (again for appt) was dropped off at 4pm , 4:15 appt. Didn't see Dr. Reddy until 9pm! You shouldn't take advantage that these people need help,and you know most will wait because they need their medication refills. The initial intake process is a joke, there is no time for a clinician to accurately listen to your concerns. I was witness to 1 visit between the patient and Dr. Reddy, he seemed to listen answer all questions, and didn't seem like he was rushing through, idk, maybe it's a overbooking/scheduling issue. If I would have wrote this months ago when Dr. Dekker was there, it would have been a higher rating because he was always there to help. He understood my problems and was there to help people. Now I am seeing someone else there, and I just don't feel comfortable anymore. I don't feel like this person understands me or takes me serious. I've been with 2nd Chance for over a year now and no one seems worried about weaning me off of suboxone after being sober for 2 years. I have never had a positive UA for anything other than what I'm prescribed, I've always done good. But I'm still stuck with no plan. My previous treatment center required 1 monthly visit, a random UA which they could call at any moment for you to come in, you didn't have to come every week and do a UA. And the doctor actually had a plan which included me being off of suboxone by now. I guess I just feel like I'm stuck here at this center, everything's changed for me there now and it's just concerning. I want to have a solid plan, I may have to find elsewhere. read more

My daughter was seen at the Glendale office by an NP, Karen. She is currently under treatment by a psychologist and a PCP, both who recommend that due to her issues and the emotional distraught, she should be on short term disability. The insurance company requires she been seen by a psychiatrist if out greater than 30 days. If anyone in AZ has attempted to get an appointment with one they know it's impossible in less than 3-4 weeks and that's if you can get someone to return a call. 2nd Chance Treatment gave her an appointment in 1 week with an NP. Thinking this would be the quickest way to see a psychiatrist, she accepted it. In under 10 minutes seeing this NP, and without even questioning her on her work situation, she made the determination that she knew more than the psychologist and her PCP and felt she didn't need disability. My daughter left there in tears, feeling that her situation had been trivialized, adding greatly to her emotional state. If you do use 2nd Chance Treatment Center, beware of the Glendale office! Also, confidentiality is not of any concern. I could hear my daughter being interviewed by both the intake person and the NP. Had I not been the only one in the waiting room, I would have addressed it. read more

Went to this Facility for initial consultation. I was given a packet of paperwork to fill out and found that in with the papers they wanted me to fill out was another patients information. Big HIPPA Violation. Stay away from this place if you expect privacy. Receptionist couldn't have cared less. I also saw several people who were questioning their wait time. I left before I could spend any more time there when I realized they do not care about Privacy. I am filing a complaint with the Medical Board regarding their lack of privacy and HIPPA violations. read more
