For the children theres the animal farm where they can see and pet the animals, and tractor rides around the entire farm, including fascinating tours to show how cider is made including a cider museum and distillery, even a jam kitchen! And for the adults, if the above doesn't interest you enough, there is of course the farm shop which sells over 40 varieties of delicious fruit products, including a wide range of ciders produced at the farm, brandy, fresh jams and fresh pressed apple juice! And if you like to stock up on cider, you'll be doing your wallet a favour too as you can get great deals such as 20 bottles of Cornish Rattler for £19.99! A great save considering they sell single bottles in supermarkets for £2.50+ each! And if like me you have no idea where to start in the farm shop, they have free taste testing stalls, allowing you to taste all of the best selling ciders and wines the farm produces just make sure you don't get too carried away! I would recommend drivers to be limited to only 1 or 2 drinks to taste as some are rather high in alcohol. And of course, if you need a break from all of that, there's a lovely restaurant and cream tea café just next door to the farm shop.

You can take a tour of the miniature farm, as well as a ride around the fields where you can learn a little bit about the history of cider making. My particular favourite was getting to sample all the different kinds of alcohol and jam that they make (for free!) and I ended up spending quite a lot in the shop on the jam, which I became quite addicted to, and the strawberry wine which made a great present in it's beautiful glass bottle. We sampled a coffee and local Cornish ciders on draft which were lovely. Cosey wooden style modern pub with friendly staff. The location is unique and supreme. This was a great find just away from a couple of the major roads in Truro. It looks brilliant. By the bar there are some mugs hung up with peoples names on them. I hope that they really do belong to locals, rather than being part of the 'look'. There are generally 4 ales on pump. I came at a bad time however, as only one was on. Fortunately it was the one I had never had before, Kiddlywink, from the excellent Skinner's brewery nearby If I'd come when all the ales were on and I'd had more time to stay, I could imagine this place getting a perfect score. As it is, I will heartily recommend it and hope to be back.

It did tours, but there was over an hour to wait until the next tour so I decided not to bother. I was about to leave when I noticed a bar, so I wondered in. Turns out the bar is for employees and people taking the tour only, but I could sit there and quaff while I waited to be shown around. Enjoyed the excellent Spriggan Ale and Figgy's brew, which you generally don't see outside the brewery and they are mixed together to make their ale for which pubs can choose the name (such as the Kiddlywink found at Old Ale House). Their beer really is good. You can see why Betty Stogs has won awards. So in the end I had a short tour (it's a small brewery, it only takes 15 minutes) and an hour of drinking either side. Definitely worth the £6.50 I paid. They have a shop too, but beer is a rather heavy souvenir. I'd probably have drunk it on the way home.

The location helps, on a surprisingly quiet narrow side street parallel to the main shopping hill. Beer is from Bays, Skinners or Otter, which is the kind of line up Man City wish they had! Went for the Otter and had a very good pint. There is a large selection of wines too, so something for everyone I think. My favourite pub in Penzance so far (I have lots more to visit I know!).
