We sampled a coffee and local Cornish ciders on draft which were lovely. Cosey wooden style modern pub with friendly staff. The location is unique and supreme. If you have dogs come and walk them on the beach and then stop for a pint..dogs are allowed.

This was a great find just away from a couple of the major roads in Truro. It looks brilliant. The…read morewalls and ceilings are plastered with old beer mats, beer posters and beer lists from festivals that they have had in the past. By the bar there are some mugs hung up with peoples names on them. I hope that they really do belong to locals, rather than being part of the 'look'. There are generally 4 ales on pump. I came at a bad time however, as only one was on. Fortunately it was the one I had never had before, Kiddlywink, from the excellent Skinner's brewery nearby If I'd come when all the ales were on and I'd had more time to stay, I could imagine this place getting a perfect score. As it is, I will heartily recommend it and hope to be back.

It's a great place to grab a drink sit on a stool in the window and people watch in between shopping. Interesting little place. We came across it in our Cornwall guide and realised it was only a few…read moremiles from where we were staying. Chanelling the fruit farm vibe, there's even apple tree's in the court yard area. Healey's make the local cider found in many of the Cornish pubs, called Rattler. It is identifiable by the snake head taps and comes in original, pear and strawberry. You can do a full brewery tour (I didn't opt to do this), take tractor rides, watch a peacock strut around the decent sized car park (reverse carefully), see some cute rabbits, sample ciders and buy to take some home. You can even grab a drink in the court yard area and sit and watch the madness of tours coming and going Even to sample cider, it is free. Just say at the entrance that you are there to buy some products and they let you walk in. Head into the shop and there are all the different products - cider's, whisky, brandy, fruit wines, preserves, sweets, etc. Staff at the top bar will let you try whatever you wanted. The cider's were lovely but I wasn't a fan of the fruit wines. We didn't stay long - some sampling, purchasing and then a quick drink in the court yard but it is worth a wee visit if you are in the area. I believe Callestick, the local ice cream maker is based just down the track and you can do joint tours so something for adults and kids. Ps - the title is not a spelling mistake, it really is Healey's Cyder (not Cider) Farm...

Realised how near the brewery I was when killing time in a local pub. There was a map on the…read morebarmat! So I set off with aforementioned barmat and located the brewery. It did tours, but there was over an hour to wait until the next tour so I decided not to bother. I was about to leave when I noticed a bar, so I wondered in. Turns out the bar is for employees and people taking the tour only, but I could sit there and quaff while I waited to be shown around. Enjoyed the excellent Spriggan Ale and Figgy's brew, which you generally don't see outside the brewery and they are mixed together to make their ale for which pubs can choose the name (such as the Kiddlywink found at Old Ale House). Their beer really is good. You can see why Betty Stogs has won awards. So in the end I had a short tour (it's a small brewery, it only takes 15 minutes) and an hour of drinking either side. Definitely worth the £6.50 I paid. They have a shop too, but beer is a rather heavy souvenir. I'd probably have drunk it on the way home.

The location helps, on a surprisingly quiet narrow side street parallel to the main shopping hill. Beer is from Bays, Skinners or Otter, which is the kind of line up Man City wish they had! Went for the Otter and had a very good pint. There is a large selection of wines too, so something for everyone I think. My favourite pub in Penzance so far (I have lots more to visit I know!).

This great little farm shop has everything you need. They sell a lot of their own and locally grown…read moreproduce, mostly organic and at very reasonable prices, sometimes matching or beating supermarkets but much nicer. Apart from fruit and veg, they also sell dairy produce and locally sourced meat. They have a good selection of wholefoods such as pulses, rice, cous-cous etc. and have Fairtrade Organic Palestinian olive oil. You can also buy things like Ecover washing powder and loo roll. In addition there is a selection of delicious homemade bread. Since discovering this shop which is bigger inside than it looks from the road, I have almost stopped relying on supermarkets. Tim, the owner and Rachel who works there most days are friendly and helpful and always make a visit there a pleasant experience. There is absolutely nothing pretentious or superficial about this place, it is good ,wholesome food at affordable prices for those that care about what they eat and what its effect is on our environment is.
