Once you're done with the massage, tye freedom of movement and motion is incredible. This may be a new once a week or once every two week part of my workout schedule. I really liked that they allow you to choose the areas you want the therapist to focus on. Since I spend a lot of time typing, I specifically circle my shoulders. Because I also drive frequently and spend a lot of time sitting in traffic, I circle my glutes/buttocks, which tend to get very tight. I had Jennifer, and unfortunately, I felt that she spent very little time addressing the areas I specifically requested. Out of the 60-minute massage, I would say only about 15 minutes total were spent focusing on my problem areas. Much of the massage consisted of her using her arm to roll over my back, which didn't really provide the targeted pressure or relief I was hoping for. I also requested a medium deep tissue massage, but the experience felt more like a light Swedish massage. At one point, she placed a hot stone on me without warning. It was extremely hot and startled me enough to jump, so she ended up stopping the hot stone portion altogether. When she had me turn over, she also spent some time massaging my head, but unfortunately, I didn't find it particularly relaxing. I normally get Thai massages and have had much better experiences, especially when it comes to therapists listening to the areas that need the most attention and adjusting the pressure accordingly. My friend had Tina during the same visit and had a completely different experience. He requested a firm massage, and Tina did an excellent job focusing on his problem areas and providing the pressure he asked for. His experience was much more in line with what I was hoping for. That being said, I still tipped Jennifer 20% because I appreciate the time and effort she put into providing the service. However, based on my personal experience, this would unfortunately be near the bottom of my list when choosing a massage place. I hope the management takes this feedback constructively. I came in with high expectations because of the positive reviews, and I would have really appreciated a massage that was more customized to the areas and pressure I specifically requested.

Instead of relaxing, I found myself tensing up from the discomfort, and I ultimately had to ask for the massage to be stopped early. I left feeling sore and stressed, which is the opposite of what I came in for. The manager was kind and professional when I explained what happened and offered me a gift card to make up for it. I appreciated the gesture, though I told them I probably won't use it myself and may give it to someone else. I really wanted to enjoy this experience, but I just didn't feel listened to. I remember hearing my wife say "Oww" a few times and she told the masseuse to go a little easier and not so rough. The masseuse continued to be rough with her, and my wife said her shoulders and neck were hurting for days after. The massage just felt very mediocre. During the massage, the front desk phone kept on ringing and ringing and ringing and ringing AND RINGING. No one picked up the phone at all. And when we finished, we saw the front desk person standing outside. It wasn't peaceful at all here. So much noise coming from the other side of the wall and then the constant ringing on the phone. This is definitely the worst massage I have ever received. I'm mad that I tipped, because they didn't do a good job. I do not recommend this massage place AT ALL. On my 3rd visit here, I was double booked for my dry needling treatment with Joseph. Instead of being honest and asking me to come back, they decided to treat me anyway. Unaware of the overbooking, I followed Joseph into a room where he worked on me for 5 minutes without sanitizing the area of treatment like he usually does. He turned the heat lamp to stay ON, told me he'd "be right back" and left the room. With needles in my back and a heat lamp inches from my body, I was left there for the rest of my ONE HOUR appointment. I could handle the physical pain, the intense heat and discomfort, but then the anxiety and panic set in. I felt held hostage with the needles all over my back and arms. I couldn't move at all without the needles hurting me. I couldn't even turn the heat lamp off or move it away. I was trapped. I didn't want to yell to disturb the other clients, so I reluctantly cleared my voice - rudely and loudly - to get someone's attention. Only then did Joseph come back. I immediately asked him to remove the needles (which had been in my body while I lie there alone for ONE HOUR). He took them out, and proceeded to do the routine end-of-session stuff. I had to ask him not to touch me anymore and to leave so I could they dressed and leave the room. Then, Joseph got annoyed with ME. Needless to say, I left Art of Healing in tears. I really trusted this place, but these are the types of interactions that make me NOT want to be a kind, understanding person.
