I couldn't be happier! From consultation to finish a refreshing and fun experience! I have very long wavy hair that was in serious need of someone who knows hair, especially curly hair. This woman is an absolute artist, she reads the hair. I like to wash fluff and go, simple. My cut compliments my individual curl style. Thank you Kimberly! Super clean, cute salon. Highly recommend read more

My wife had appointments cancelled by stylist April two days in a row....one 15 mins prior to the appt and the second 1 hour prior to the appointment. She had previously used Kim ( the owner) but Kim makes alot of personal phonecalls during appointments and this makes for a very long day. She also got nasty when my wife called to say she would be 5 mins late but then made her wait while she was yet again on the phone. Her pricing is inconsistent so be sure pin a number down prior to your appt. The appts were cancelled due to construction preventing access to the salon. April kindly sent photos to prove this, unfortunately sent the photos from inside the salon she did not have access too....lolol. Nasty people. read more

I love this place! Kimberly always leaves my hair nice looking and healthy, and gives helpful advice in how to style and treat hair, and she is kind as well. I highly recommend. It's on the pricey side but well worth it. read more

I went in with serious issues with my roots. There were multiple bands of color, and lots of gray. The salon owner was amazing! She spent a lot of time strategically bringing my hair back to beautiful! I love it :) read more

Wow wow wow, Kimberly is a fantastic stylist! She listens to the customers wants and expectations and truly delivers, She has great persition on cutting and blending Your Haircut. Kimberly is also very fair in the pricing of her work, I highly recommend the headquarters salon, If I were not moving out of state Kimberly would have a customer for life. Kimberly best wishes for great success. Dean. read more

Was recommended this salon because they "cut curly hair". First visit she cut off so much of my hair where I felt uncomfortable and humiliated but thought it was just a trust the process situation to gain healthier hair. My hair was to my waist and she cut it to where it shrunk to above my shoulders. I cried for days. However when I decided to go again my hair was cut so uneven that it's incredibly hard to maintain and been having a difficult time to even it out due to the huge difference. You can try to ask for hair care products and what to style with and they will only offer aVeda products and in my case they never worked for my curly hair, straight hair may be a different story. read more

I can't really say enough good things about this salon! Kim is amazing, I had so much color correction and calico colors from going through a half a dozen "colorists" within a year that I was amazed and pleasantly surprised with the beautiful natural toned blonde she gave me. Before she began she covered my eyes and than took them away and asked what the first thing I saw was, I responded "my hair" (bleachy blonde) not knowing where she was going with this exercise. After she had given me both highlights and lowlights and had transformed my hair to an ashier darker blonde, she did the same exercise. I was suprised with how it drew all the focus into my green blue eyes and flattered my skin tone so much better! The best part was that she even gave me detailed instructions about how to care for and nurture my fine, dry, fragile hair so I could grow it long and healthy again. I was actually sad about moving to Studio City just two months after finding her and sending my friends to her. Studio City has an Aveda salon right down the street from me and I went in, worried about yet another colorist's interpretation of my hair color. I asked if the girl could call Kim and ask what she had done since Kim had written lots of notes about everything she did. My new hairstylist called and got every last detail from colors, to placement and recreated what Kim had done very closely!! So helpful and sweet!! Thankyou Kim! I was only in Bakersfield a year but I noticed there are MANY hair colorists there and it can be hard to find the quality in all that quantity. Considering this is the only true Aveda salon in Bakersfield and the level of stylists/colorists there, I'd never go anywhere else read more

Full Service Aveda Salon. I love my stylist, Lyndsey McClure. She takes great pride in her work, she never rushes through and Lyndsey always pays attention to every detail. It truly is a therapy session for my hair, with a hair perfectionist like Lyndsey working her creative skills. The owner of the salon is, Kimberly Walton, anther great, creative stylist! Kimberly is always ready and patient enough to make sure all my Aveda points are updated. On my last visit , Kimberly was able to apply 1,000 extra points. If your collect points, you gotta call these ladies at Headquarters Salon to find out how you can get an extra 1,000 one time points offer. Plus, the ladies in the salon are more than willing to give any samples of their extensive selection of Aveda products. Overall, it's always a relaxing experience. read more

I was apprehensive about going based on reviews. However, I was recommended by a friend with curly hair. This was out third attempt with a stylist as the other two (different salons) have failed miserably. She's not close to us, but I thought, well, we've already had two bad cuts, what's there to lose. To start, yes, kim can be 'too much' for some. She's very upfront and honest. BUT, she begins with, "im here to help, not offend" and once you get past that, you realize it's the truth. Wouldn't you want someone honest giving their opinions? My daughter has thick curly hair. Mostly due to her ethnicity. I never felt she was racist like others have commented. And trust me I was waiting for it. Truth be told, my daughters ethnicity has every thing to do with her hair, so why wouldn't I want someone who is knowledgeable in that, to work on her? Why wouldn't I want someone who isn't afraid to say, "oh this is such and such hair, this is why I'm cutting this way, this is why I recommend x y or z!" We spent 2 hours and I was thankful for every minute. She walked us through so much, and although some was obvious, we walked away with an entirely better understanding of how to take care of her hair. Now, our next appt will not be as long as this one because it will be maintenance from here on out. She was not pushy at all. Didn't force me to buy any Aveda products. Did she recommend stuff, duh, it's top quality stuff that works wonders and that's partly her job. We ended up buying stuff because I want to invest into my daughters hair and the way Kim made us feel was incredible. But even more so, my daughter felt good. She felt educated, she felt confident and knowledgeable in how to tend to her hair, and she felt beautiful. I can't really put a price on that. We will definitely be back. Thankful we found her. read more

Headquarters Aveda Salon - Before and after - Hair Salons Near Me - Bakersfield, California

When I moved to Bakersfield, I often wondered if I would have to make a special day trip to get my hair done in LA.. So.. I waited and waited and waited.. until a friend decided on an intervention.. Yup!! My hair was that bad that my friend had to beg me to get it done :) So, I figured its been that long and my hair is half red half black (faded out).. how bad can it really get.. Well, I researched yelp and all the other review sites and found Headquarters. I called up and had a pleasant conversation with Amber about my hair and what I need done and she set me up with an appointment with April. From the minute I made that call until I walked out with a fabulous haircut and color, I was just sooo happy. Well.. even after I was really happy but you get the point!! April was fabulous and so were all the other girls. It really felt like a pampering session with the girls. April and I chit chatted. April's mom (Kim) was also there with a few other girls and they were all very sweet, extremely knowledgeable and just great over all. The best thing was that they discussed my likes and dislikes, gave me good advice on my hair, type of color and style that would suit me and my lifestyle. Furthermore, they even spent extra time showing me how to style my hair when I am at home so I am not lost when I try to do it myself. The other great thing is that the girls seem to try all the products on their own hair. Just that day, April was trying out a new protein treatment on her gorgeous hair. I highly recommend this salon to anyone in Bakersfield. No hesitations whatsoever. read more

First: this is my first haircut in over a decade. My hair was down to the middle of my butt, wavy/curly, and difficult to manage. I finally decided to get it cut, and I asked some girls I knew with curly hair who all said the same thing-- go to Kim. She was attentive, spent time teaching me about my hair, asking about how I take care of it, and just getting to know my hair. Once the cut started...I swear, she's a magician. She listened to exactly what I wanted to do, how I usually style my hair, and what I want to do with it that's new. My hair is light, has movement, and oh my gosh-- it is so curly and so gorgeous. I have genuinely never been this happy with my hair-- I'll absolutely be back. p.s. Got my brows done too-- not painful and I look great! read more

This place is fantastic! We call Kimberly the hair whisperer, because she will teach you how to take care of your hair while she makes you beautiful. I cannot day enough about how she has saved my hair. And the products by Aveda are natural, plant based, so you aren't putting chemicals into your body through your skin. Complete win. Headquarters Aveda Salon - Highlights by Kimberly - Hair Salons Near Me - Bakersfield, California

Kim is the only person in the whole world I absolutely trust with my hair. I spent 16 years of my life always being disappointed with subpar haircuts- I have very thick hair so the usual "one size fits all" haircut definitely did NOT fit me. Kim was the first hairdresser who I showed a picture of what I wanted and she actually left me satisfied with the results! I've been a loyal customer for 8 years since. Even though I live 5 hours away for school now, I always schedule serious haircuts with her and drive down for them! Even though I don't have experience getting my hair cut by them, the rest of the girls here have always been super nice to chat with and make me feel right at home! Thanks Kim and Headquarters! read more

I'm not much for writing reviews, but I have been coming here for a while. The service is always outstanding. Pricing is good, and the salon is clean. Lindsey, Kim, and April are great. Would definitely recommend them. read more

Kim is super. I drive a good 30 minutes to visit her and have her deal with my thinning locks. And I don't mean door locks. My hair used to be better. In fact, I wish Kim could have seen me a few years ago when it was thicker and I could have considered taking advantage of her coloring expertise. I was impressed to see some of the great results she has had with her female clients that I would have been willing to try something unusual. Not so unusual nowadays. Anyway, I have to say that it is so nice to have Kim and I feel comfortable talking to her about my girl friends and comparing notes on how life is going. All is good when you get a good haircut. read more

I came here because I had read it was the place to go for curly hair. Went in with an idea of a curly shag with heavy bangs. I even had a ton of pictures off the internet for reference. I had originally asked her NOT to razor my hair because it thins out my hair which is unflattering to my round face. I asked her to thin out my bangs just a tad and she went buck wild razoring the rest of my hair. It now looks completely awful. My curls are gone and now I'm just left with uneven, thin, stringy hair. VERY disappointed! read more

A perfect shop on the east side with great service. I've been here many years ago, when they first opened and I've recently returned for a trim. I've never been disappointed with the service and Lyndsey does some great work with men's hair. The East Side needs more quality businesses like this. I look forward to my next appointment! read more

Kim is the owner. Very very knowledgable. If you want products she will give you exactly what you need and explain to you why. She explains her reasons behind a cut and or color suggestion for you. I appreciate this because I know zilch about hair. JUST MAKE ME BEAUTIFUL!!!! =) Personally, I think Kim is one of the smartest and most knowledgable stylists in the Bakersfield area. The other gal working there, (can't recall her name), is super sweet and the customers I've seen love her work and seem so confident when they leave. If you don't know Aveda products, they are the best I've found. I have damaged hair from going to a rookie stylist that didn't know quite what she was doing... chopped off all of my hair and I've been nursing it back to life. I love my hair now and I attribute it to awesome stylists and aveda products. Call to get an appointment, their schedule can get full for last minute appointments. If you have any hesitations, book a consultation, it is probably free. (Don't let the ghetto mart next door scare you away, it's really unfortunate the property owners let such a trashy joint in their establishment). read more

I had taken my 13 year old daughter to Kim twice. Our third appointment had to rescheduled due to a conflict I forgot about. Kim was annoyed but we got a new appt in two weeks. 9 days later...9 days!...Kim called to say she wouldn't cut my daughter's hair ever again because "I had stood her up twice" What??? No only was that a lie, but I've know Kim for ten years! I questioned her reasoning and she said, "You rescheduled" She may be a fine hairdresser, but she has no customer service or business sense. BEWARE! Kim is mean-spirited and has no customer loyalty... even after a decade. read more

Though I haven't been too many times, I had made an appointment, though my expectations were questionable about the whole thing. When I opened the door I was greeted by some very friendly women. Since this was the first time, I was apprehensive.... as I'm totally freaky about how my hair cut and color was going to look. Aaah! My appointment was with a stylist named April......who had gorgeous hair herself. Apparently, (as I had been told), she was a great colorist, and I am very picky who touches my hair). You know I have to wear it everyday! I had brought pictures with me for my cut and she did a super job. Perfection! I would definitely go back.....but only to see April. She is a real find. read more

Excellent salon!!! Even better staff!! Kim and April are a Great mother and daughter team!!! When you need your hair done right, this is the place!! read more

I've been seeing Kimberly since I moved back to Bakersfield 8 years ago and I've never had a bad cut and for a curly girl, that is saying a lot. I recommend Kim to any curly girl that asks because cutting curly hair is difficult for most stylists and so frustrating for the curly girl because a bad cut takes forever to grow out. Everyone I have referred to Kim loved her and her great eye. I wouldn't trust my hair with anyone else in town. read more

I've been seeing Kim for my curly hair since I was 16. That was over 15 years ago. No one else does a better job for curly hair, and my color is always well done and natural looking. I've recommended her to many people who have become regular clients. That being said, she also doesn't allow people to walk all over her, which might be the rest of the story that the one bad reviewer left out. She is definitely not about the money, because she never rushes clients out the door, but rather takes considerable care to make sure clients are happy with her performance. read more

April did a really great job on my hair. I asked just for a trim and highlights and told her she has free will with my hair. And she not only was a friendly knowledgable person she did what she wanted and I love it our appointment was a little late so I was out if there later than expected. But only because she is thorough and makes sure every customer is happy before they leave and that I can respect. Plus she called me in plenty of time to tell me she was running late. Definitely recommend anyone who is new to town or looking for a great new hair stylist to go to Headquarters and see April or her mom Kim who is also the owner. read more

I can't say enough about how much I loved my experience with Kim. Not only is she incredibly knowledgable about curly hair (black, mixed, whatever!), but she wants you to look your best. She gave me tips on how to make my hair healthier and how to do different styles. And the cut looks amazing! I would recommend her to anyone! read more

Great salon. Friendly people. Fantastic Aveda products. Very professional!

I found this salon on yelp and despite the bad review about Kim, I had an absolutely wonderful experience. I had very over processed hair and a lot of breakage. Kim was friendly and so knowledgeable and walked me through the process of healing my hair. She took my warn out breakage and turned it into something I can run my fingers through again. She took the time to be patient and give me the exact cut I was looking for while teaching me exactly what went wrong and how to fix it. I will definitely be back! read more

Kim is my go to hair dresser, she's attentive and takes the time to get to know her clients. She's been my hair dresser for about four years now, I used to live in Bakersfield but I now live in San Luis Obispo and I drive all the way to Bakersfield just so she can give me a cut and color. I have curly hair and after going to so many different hair dressers who obviously don't understand how to cut curly hair I was scared to get my hair done! Until I found Kim at headquarters, I trust her completely and recommend her to anyone with curly hair! She gives you the best advice for your hair and wants you to look your best. read more

I have/had long thick curly hair and for some years I've been through many stylists. Usually at the end of every experience I never "LOVED" my hair. It was ok I guess. But for the last couple years I've been wanting a particular type of cut but no one has been able to do it! I've explained and showed pictures but no one has got it right. Then I found reviews on Kimberly and how she specializes on us curly girls. Well. I gave her a try. She totally gets me and I totally get how she works. She's an ARTIST like how I am on photoshop. Her way of cutting my hair is totally different than how the others have done. I can see her creative mind working as she's snipping and trimming here and there. The more I touched my hair, flipped my head, she'd snip some more here and there to work with how I played with my hair. Slowly but surely my style that I've wanted was coming into shape. *gasp* Ohh myyy!! There it was!! She totally cut most of the bulk off, gave that lift, and my curls just bounced like mad! I....LOVED IT!! Ok, I found my hairstylist! I highly recommend to give Kimberly a try if you have curly hair! Get ready for a great experience! You're going to love it. read more

This is a great Salon. I love their knowledge of wild and wavy hair, and they carve out time to focus on the client. Plus, Aveda products! Win win! read more

I called today to make a long overdue appointment to cut my hair. I read reviews and it seems as through Kimberly is who to go to if you have curly hair. April answered and said that Kimberly would call me back to ask some questions before making an appointment. She called at noon and asked her the routine "what is your hair like" questions. She said that clients like me who only get a hair cut once a year are the hardest to please. When i told her that really I am not hard to please and the reason I haven't had it cut was because I went to a girl for a quidad cut (bad cut) and that i have a 4,3,1.5 year old and a newborn. Life got busy and hair came last. She said that well in her 40 years experience that I would be the hardest to please still...ok whatever. She then went on to say that it would be 2 hours and start at 195. Still fine. She also wanted me to be sure not to bring my children-which I didn't plan on except for my newborn. I asked if it would be ok if my mother came with me to hold my newborn (3weeks). She wanted to know why and what would i need to do because that 2 hours was very detailed and it wouldn't work if I had to stop for any reason. I said probably nothing but that I didn't leave my newborns for that long. She ended the conversation with well maybe I need to wait until i can come alone. It was the most abrasive and offensive conversation I've ever had with anyone much less with someone who I was a potential paying customer. Will never attempt to make an appointment with her again. I'd rather pay twice the amount to someone who is kind. read more

Kim is ridiculous. I went in wanting a simple asymmetrical cut (which I've had multiple times and showed her pictures of me with the cut) with some highlights. She decided that she needed to educate me on everything that was wrong with my hair as far as the way it naturally fell, cowlicks, etc. I was very adamant that I didn't want the back cut above my neckline. She cut my hair above my neckline anyways. While proceeding to tell me to purchase a set of clippers and showing me how to cut it myself. When it came time to highlight my hair, I asked for a book and she said they just mix their own colors and I had to tell her what reds I liked in her hair?!? Next came time for her to show me how to style my hair, which again wasn't necessary as I've had this cut before. She choose to make the process about her ego rather than about a cut and color. The whole process took 3 HOURS and $185.00 when all was said and done. She has an over inflated ego and it's all about her. read more

I have long hair and purchased a curl genie. Thought it was great until I realized it was frying my hair. Pieces were actually falling off so I searched for a salon near me and found great reviews for Kim. Well, she literally saved my hair. She took so much time snipping and cutting to get rid of all the burnt off pieces and restored my hair to its great look and feel. She told me things no other hair dresser has told me. She knows her stuff for sure. I not only love the cut she gave me but I now know of things that I was doing wrong and should not continue doing to keep my hair in better condition. It's worth the trip to see her not only for your hair but for all the information she gives. She's a pro and I truly thank her. read more
