My friend recommended Nitty Gritty and after a remarkably easy email exchange, I was set to have my daughter's lice removed by Kim. My daughter was a little bit freaked out about the idea of lice being in her hair. She was clingy and nervous but Kim's welcoming demeanor helped calm her. She also explained every step as she went and for my daughter it just felt like a day at the salon. By the end, my daughter said it was so easy and I was happy with the results. She came to me, I did not go to the salon. The only issue is the price. It costs $120 for each visit. I know that there is one company that charges a one time fee, (it is more expensive) but they don't charge again if they have to come back out within the month.

It's not cheap, especially with multiple kids, but it works. One and done. This is our second visit after several months. Diane was fantastic the first time and helped us again. She's incredibly knowledgeable and even showed us exactly what she was finding. Vanessa is helping us for the first time, and she's been great as well, very thorough and helpful. I'm especially glad both of my kids can be treated at the same time, so we don't have to spend double the time here. Hopefully this is our last visit, but if you're dealing with this frustrating issue, I highly recommend coming in and taking care of it right away.

I debated doing the "at home route", no, not with chemicals, but with all natural products. But even the natural products can burn your scalp and cannot be a good experience, with possible days of treating and hoping the little pests are gone. I would say Happy Hunting, but I wouldn't count on it....... Thanks to my friend, I found Shannon at Once in a Licetime. She was able to give me a same day appointment, and I left feeling relaxed AND with an awesome hair style to boot. She has two locations (Lake Forest & Corona del Mar). She also does home visits, and instructs you on preventative measures. One thing I realized is that our community does not proactively educate parents and children on lice, until there has been an infestation. Good news ~ I asked Shannon if she is able to visit my child's local school and daycare to educate on the prevention and treatment of lice - of course she said YES!!!
