    Scarlett's Landscape

Scarlett Landscape & Design isn't a company--we've decided they're family…read more We met Jeremy Scarlett in 2021 when he turned our blank Santa Barbara backyard into a living postcard: a beautiful string light lined fire-pit, next to a picturesque outdoor dining experience and completed with 4 raised garden beds, and plant selection to great that the neighbors asked for the blueprint. Two years later, a quick front of the house refresh became a master class in precision--same crew, same pride, zero corners cut. Fast-forward to 2025: a different contractor just punched a pool-shaped hole through our paradise. One call to Jeremy and the Scarlett crew showed up like superheroes in sun hats. They surveyed the pool demo and made sure that our paradise will return to its former glory, if not, even better. What sets Scarlett apart? One crew owns your job from demo to final bloom. They know our Frenchie, Madeline by name name, and which succulents sulk in afternoon sun. They treat our soil like it's their own inheritance. Jeremy himself still walks every jobsite, pencil behind ear, asking, "Will this make you smile in five years?" The answer is always yes. If you're tired of landscapers who vanish after the invoice, hire Scarlett. They don't just install beauty--they protect it, perfect it, and hand you the hose with a grin. Five stars aren't enough. We're already saving for the next excuse to call them back. -- David, Alexandra & Madeline The Frenchie, Santa Barbara, CA

Scarlett's Landscaping did a great job on my back patio. Living in a condo, I have a small patio…read morearea that lacked privacy, functionality and character. It had an ugly view of a retaining wall, drainage gutter, and parking lot. It also had a beautiful tree that was leaning and had a fence awkwardly placed around its trunk. When heavy rains, felled this tree and ripped out the fence, it was time to finally address this disastrous area. I met with owner Jeremy and landscape designer Jason to help reimagine my patio. They addressed my concerns and wishlist and came up with a great design. The work crew, led by Ray, was outstanding. Every one of the guys on the crew, Javier,Chris, Dewey, Juan, Andy, Frank and Rolando were professional, courteous and respectful to us, my neighbors, and mindful of the HOA rules. Their work ethic and work product were outstanding. The old cracked concrete was replaced with beautiful pavers and upgraded drainage. A Hoff Solitions privacy screen with class a fire rated Timber-Tech planks was placed in front of the concrete block retaining wall and is fully removable if needed. I have more functional seating with a garden wall that allows for some plantings and doubles as extra seating. My Zen boulder fountain was set in ground with accent lighting. A covered pergola was added to define a nice outdoor seating area. A beautiful and functional barbecue surround was built to create a built-in look for my barbecue cart and the surround also provides privacy from the parking area.Landscaping and irrigation were also added along my fence. Because of the increased functionality of the space, it feels larger. My back patio is so much more enjoyable and charming now and I couldn't be any happier with the final outcome. These pictures really do not do justice to this beautiful space. Scarlett's Landscaping may not be the least expensive, but they provided great communication, work ethic, workmanship, management of details such as all permits and inspections, follow-up post completion, and most of all, peace of mind that my project was in the right hands. I had a great experience working with them and I highly recommend them. Here are some before and after pictures.

Jose is a gentleman. He's fair with his pricing, and knows his trade. I originally just hired him…read moreto do the artificial turf and extend the patio. After discussion and the fact that one of the large trees was cracking the cmu wall I got a quote to remove all of the trees and plants (except the roses). After accomplishing that I got more ideas with the clean slate and decided to paint the wall and add a vinyl fence topper for privacy. I am very pleased with the end result. After this project I hired Jose and his crew to do more work at another property. I would highly recommend him.

Everyone else we had spoken with had tried to talk us out of weed barrier because it's a hassle to install. He also was able to understand my vision very well and is knowledgeable about all of the drought tolerant plants we wanted, including asking about different colors and varieties rather than making assumptions and getting the wrong thing for us. José even suggested that they mix a small amount of concrete with our decomposed granite around our raised beds so that we wouldn't have weeds coming up around the beds. It looks great and will save us so much time and work! José was extremely responsive and his estimate was comprehensive and well thought-out. He showed up when he said he would and did great work. I was so impressed with the attention to detail of José and his crew. When they were done, they cleaned up to the point that it was cleaner when they left than when they arrived. One example of how thorough José and his crew were is that they installed some artificial turf, and after installing it, they brought a special brush/roller tool to make the turf stand up properly. José's prices were not low, but they were fair, especially for the immaculate job he did! I will post pictures once the plants grow in a little bit more!

Well, here I am more than a decade out from Brendon East's first job at our house in late 2013. He…read morejust completed his fourth project here and, so I figure it's time for an update. Honestly, Brendon and his crew are so easy to work with and are so bent on customer satisfaction, we couldn't imagine working with anyone else. Our latest project was initiated by the desire to make our house more fire-resistant. With the guidance of Brendon and landscape architect Brian Brodersen, we tore out many plants next to the house, got rid of all the bark, and put in fire-resistant plants like agaves, succulents, and Lomandra longifolia 'Platinum Beauty,' a beautiful low maintenance grass considered fire-wise. With plant knowledge, your fire-resistant & drought tolerant landscape doesn't have to be all succulents and cactus. We no longer have any grass to mow/fertilize/water, and we happen to find our grassless landscape more interesting to look at. The gravel is not only fire-safe, but gives a much more polished, finished look, and we elected to have weed-cloth installed beneath the gravel. Please check out the photos below. Since the new plants are so tiny, I've included pictures of older plantings, too.

He came over, talked us through options and gave us his honest opinions on how to make the space functional and safe for our family. He had great ideas on how to reuse some of the same hardscape materials while landscaping with native and drought tolerant plants. Once the project started, his crew worked efficiently and quickly to get the multi-day project finished. They were all super respectful of our space, and Brendon kept us updated and worked with us on the design. His crew also identified two major leaks, repaired those and even helped manage and correct our irrigation system all while helping us make cost saving choices. Our new backyard area turned out beautifully and we could not be happier with our new space!
