He did a great job removing the old landscaping, but not happy with how he did the new. I have issues with the sprinkler system - not a good job on putting it in to ensure plants were watered properly. I asked for certain types of plants and he put in plants that grow all over the place - not low maintenance as requested. I hired Jose the Gardener in early April to do a full reno of my backyard in Thousand Oaks. The place was a decade long trash pit full of overgrown weeds and was a quarter acre of eye soar. I had no idea what I wanted, other than grass, since it's green. Anything was better than what I was working with. I left a voicemail for Jose and he called me back in about a week. I was like, dang, this guys busy, so he's either good, or excellent. Sure enough, the moment he showed up I knew I had the right guy for the job. He wasn't driving a new flashy F150...no, it was a huge diesel work truck. It was a beast that had taken its share of abuse. He starts looking around, and quickly guides me. I'm like, "california natives, some fruit trees, and a patch of grass, and an irrigation system to keep it all alive". He handled it from there from start to finish. He brought in trucks to haul away the junk, brought in a guy to do an irrigation layout. He revived an old decomposed granite pathway and relandscaped with the landscaping rocks I had to keep the project cost down to a super reasonable price. Jose "RESCUED" us from serious situation with the Fire Department. We have a piece of property up near Ojai that had been flagged as being a potential fire hazard (that we didn't know about since we hadn't been up to visit the land in a while) and we had only TWO DAYS to get the the property weed whacked and cleared of old brush / debris by the time we got the Notice in the mail. Jose went up there the next day and gave us a quote and then was willing to work with us on the price and then the next day he completed the job, sending us AMPLE "before and after" photos of the property and he and his team did an AMAZING job. I got a call from the Fire Department today saying they drove by to check on the land and we were all clear for the year!! Jose and his workers - Mario, Roy, and Pedro - are EXCELLENT! I needed my entire yard redone, and Jose offered me a variety of options (sod vs seeding, no-sprinklers vs sprinkler installation, etc.) with a thorough explanation of what each option would entail. We ended up asking Jose to rip out all of our old grass and install brand new sod, take out some cement flower areas, cut a piece of cement lip that was there for some reason, AND install a brand new irrigation system in our yard. He did everything we agreed to in an extremely professional and efficient manner! Jose is very nice, very flexible, and very polite, which makes him all the more enjoyable to work with! I contacted Jose to come and take a look at our pre-existing watering/ irrigation system which wasn't working. He was super friendly, prompt and quickly identified the problems (that we had asked our previous landscapers at least 3 times to fix, but they didn't). He also turned up when he said he would, and called ahead to make times - was very clear with his communication. He helped re-wire the entire system and extended the reach with new pipes so that the entire yard is now covered. We hired Jose and his crew to renovate a large garden area in our backyard that was completely overtaken by weeds and clover. Jose responded to our request immediately, gave us a quote to which we agreed, and began work almost immediately. It ended up that the last two days of the job were during the "damaging winds" that had descended upon Ventura County in mid January. Jose was called out for emergency jobs (fallen trees, etc.); however, his coworker, Rodrigo, stayed the second day and completed multiple tasks in those horrific winds. We kept telling him to go home and come back when the weather calmed but he insisted on getting the work done. Rodrigo took no short cuts and completed the job beyond our satisfaction. OMG !!! FANTABOULOSO!!!! The best guy ever. I had a problem with my sprinkler system. One pipe was broken under the driveway. I had 3 prior estimates. 2 of them of course wanted to brake the cement right from the start. They couldn't even determent where the leak was coming from, couldn't even give me a "real estimate" only a ballpark. The previous homeowners did not put much thought and care into the landscaping and when we bought the house there were a lot of dead plants, plants that didn't belong, old mulch, torn fabric, and broken irrigation. Jose provided a fair estimate and jumped on the work quickly. All dead plants, leaves, mulch, and fabric was removed, new plants were placed, and irrigation was restored.
