I am having a very positive experience at HD Therapy. I broke my radial head in my elbow 4 months ago. I had surgery to replace it and was told to start physical therapy within two weeks of the surgery. I went to HD Therapy and am working with Mark. I could not say enough about his expertise with this injury. When I saw my surgeon for my 8 week post op, he told me that I was one month ahead of schedule. Thanks to Mark, I was able to help my daughter move, and had no issue with my elbow. I go once a week now and truly feel like I have my life back. Thank you Mark!! Ok, so I hurt my shoulder months ago while in the gym and did the usual; get a cortisone shot. Except that it did not work. A friend told me about HD and I cannot rave enough about the service and careful treatment you receive here. As others have written if you follow the plan, come for the treatment you will have good results. My pain has greatly diminished and I am almost back to the same level of activity. I came to HDPT about 2 months after a major open abdominal surgery. I had lots of pain while lifting- especially my almost 1 year old daughter. Basic tasks were causing me lots of pains. Right when I first arrived at HDPT, I was impressed with how clean the facility was kept. Everything looks new. During my initial appointment Michelle listened to all my concerns and took the time to understand. Within a few visits I started to see many improvements! I was so impressed. Michelle modified exercises as needed and made sure I was doing everything correctly. I'm so happy with the progress I've made. This place is AMAZING!! I broke my leg (tibia and fibula). I had 2 plates and 15 screws put into my leg to put it back together. I was on bed rest for 2 months+. Finally, I got the "all clear" from the surgeon to begin PT, so I called HD PT on a recommendation from my neighbor (Thank you neighbor!) From my very first visit I felt at ease. Ed & Glen have created a beautiful environment for people to get top level care and also feel like they are part of the family. The chatting and laughing back and forth between the therapists and patients is really refreshing! And did I mention that they ACTUALLY make you feel like they are invested in getting you better too?!?Their hands-on approach makes you feel like they're in this journey with you. From the massages of the affected areas to really watching and correcting little moves, you know that you are in the hands of professionals. This injury had really impacted my life and my ability to do some of the most basic things. I have been told by doctors that I am progressing at a faster rate than they had anticipated! I was able to go the distance to run and complete my first half-marathon thanks to Glenn at HDPT! Let me start from the beginning.... I first started training for the Chilly Half-marathon last August of 2012. I didn't train right and started getting severe pain in my right knee a week or two into training. I just proceeded to take ibuprofen and run through the pain for a few more weeks until the pain became so unbearable I could barely walk. That's when I first came to HDPT. After a free consultation one of the Physical Therapists, Glenn, told me I had Patellar tendinitis. We were optimistic about me being able to continue training for the half-marathon but I had done some good damage by waiting too long to get checked out and start physical therapy. Over the next few months I came in for weekly PT and we reconditioned my knees and strengthened my leg muscles. However, I wasn't able to run the Chilly half marathon that November. Fast forward to the Spring. I started training for the Triple Threat half-marathon which took place a few weeks ago in Rockport. I began a 16 week training program in April. Towards the end of May I developed some pain around my right buttock area and thought it was my piriformis muscle (self-diagnosis from Internet sites based on symptoms is the worst idea possible). After a week or two of stretching and rest I tried running again and couldn't run for more than a minute without being in pain. I decided I wasn't going to make the same mistake twice. I decided to go see Glenn quickly this time. No lie, he was able to fix me in one visit and make the pain completely go away! He did some pulling, cracking, and stretching of my legs and said I should be good to go in a day. I remember thinking...no way. Well, I kid you not, I was completely pain free the next day!!! I was back to training and only fell about 2 weeks behind in my training schedule. I just completed my first half marathon, the Triple Threat, in Rockport two weeks ago. I have to say that there's no way I could've done it without the help of Glenn and HDPT to get me back on track so quickly in my training plan. I would highly recommend HDPT to anybody needing targeted exercises to fix chronic back pain. I have been a patient for two months and the slow and steady progress has been life changing. The regimen is challenging and as a patient you have to do the work but I was able to make a lot of progress with no major set backs. The atmosphere is lighthearted and although I have had primarily one technician I have experienced three and all knew what they were doing. I could not have been any happier with my experience at HDPT. I had an unpleasant experience at another physical therapy practice, and the staff here renewed my faith that a physical therapy practice could do it right. From easy scheduling - they offer same day first assessments - to a great location ( it is right off of Route 95/128), you cannot go wrong. Parking is not an issue, and the interior environment is warm and welcoming. I came to them for a patellar tendon/knee issue that prevented me from running. I met with Glenn, one of the owners of HDPT. During my assessment, he listened carefully, offered insight as to what may be happening, then told me ideas he had for the plan of attack. Another reviewer on here mentioned that they actually looked forward to going for treatment, and I can echo that. The staff is exceedingly outgoing and kind, and what was very impressive was that everyone knew your name as well as (and more importantly) what issue you were dealing with and always asked "How's your knee?" As for the treatment itself, it was very broad - the physical therapists (Glenn, Ed, Svet, Robbie, and the nice woman I never worked with) are all very knowledgeable and up to date on all techniques, coming up with new and helpful challenges every session. The assistants also are very knowledgeable and know their stuff - they are a key component in your therapy and make you feel comfortable and confident in their care. As a breast cancer survivor, I need to keep moving! WOW! I have been to my share of PT providers for a variety of issues, so I have a wide base for comparison. These guys set the bar for what PT should be. After just a few visits I have seen incredible progress in my condition. You get full on attention when you have an appointment, as your therapists stays with you your entire session. Other places I have been to the therapists are seeing several patients at a time. My sessions have also been comprehensive in my treatment approach, which is likely the reason for my quick progression. And you will never have more fun doing PT. I cannot say enough positive things about my wonderful experience at HD Physical Therapy! I am pretty physically active, and had injured my neck during a workout at the gym. After living with the pain for about a year, and having tried to work on healing and stretching the injury on my own, I had started to get nervous that the pain would never go away. I looked up all of the physical therapy offices in my area, and just picked one based on convenience for my commute. Looking back on the three months of therapy I had at HDPT, I could not have made a better choice. The atmosphere there is great, as each staff member's personality helps to contribute to a therapy environment that feels 100% professional, encouraging, and progressive each week, while not feeling like it is overly clinical. As many other reviewers have stated here, I looked forward to going to treatment each week, because I knew that each staff member who would work with me that day had fully assessed my injury complaints and physical progress up to that weekly visit, and would develop a therapy session per visit that would force my body to adapt as was needed in order to help work out and relieve the pain of my injury. The staff was extremely knowledgeable and motivated, and I felt like the personalized attention that I received during each session helped me to walk away feeling like I had both a better understanding of what had caused my injury, as well as a better understanding of how the therapy was treating it. They've improved body mechanics issues that I was never aware I had problems with, and my neck feels great. I love these guys. I walked in after my third surgery for my broken ankle with a "substantial limp" and gave them a list of sports and activities that I took part in before my accident. Weeks later I'm getting comments about how much better my limp is looking and we're talking really hopefully about how quickly I can get back to athletics. I couldn't be happier with my PT. They're a great group, super friendly and fun while being 100% professional and giving me a huge variety of exercises to help specifically with my injury. If you live, work, or play ANYWHERE near Wakefield, and are in need of physical therapy, you would be CRAZY to go ANYWHERE else!! This is a place i can not say enough about.
