The customer service was disappointing. My husband and I love trying quaint coffee shops around the Byron and Oregon area, so we were excited to visit Hazels. I ordered a London Fog with lavender cold foam, but the majority of the drink tasted like milk and was tasteless. I politely asked if it could be remade or if I could simply get a different coffee instead. I was told that if I wanted another drink, I would need to pay for a new one because they believed the drink had been made correctly. Three employees then argued with me about the drink, insisting that an Earl Grey concentrate "couldn't be messed up." The interaction felt very hostile and unprofessional. I wasn't asking for anything fancy -- I simply requested a replacement black coffee. Unfortunately, the way the situation was handled left a very negative impression. $17 for two coffees that tasted like milk is diabolical. read more

This is our go to place for delicious and fresh salads and sandwiches. They only use quality ingredients and service with a smile. The coffee drinks are excellent, too. I absolutely love the maple salad dressing. The veggie breakfast sandwich is also excellent. Plus, it is also nice to support a family business! read more

cousin & I orderd burgers. They wont grill the onions? They grill the buns, probably to hide that they are old. 1/4 of mine hard as a rock. The burger was inedible even after I put my side salad and dressing on it. The absolute worst gaggy dry tasteless burger I have ever attempted to eat in my entire life. After long tiresome chewing still had to wash each bite down with a drink. $15 for each burger? Dont like mcdonalds, however truth is it at least is not dry & has a bit of flavor & costs 80% less. Had glanced & saw high reviews. First mistake. Read them later. Most folks commenting on ambiance & coffee. Shall never return. read more

They are not masking and the sign about it felt a little aggressive. But what ever. I'm not going to be there that long. The coffee was terrible. Food is great, service is poor. Most disappointing is their lack of concern for their customers during a pandemic. They don't wear masks. Some wear gaiters and touch them constantly. They pull them up to deliver food to the tables and pull them down to make food and talk constantly over your food while they are preparing it. I fully supported their "right to remain open", but not once they displayed their total disregard of a health crisis that has cost the US half a million lives. I can't help but wonder if they are following any health department laws! Or, maybe they're just looking for a certain type of customer. Fantastic ! A small town coffee shop with big appeal. Great food and great price. Keep Starbucks and any other large chain coffee shops out of this town as they don't have a chance against this place. I stopped to work for a couple of hours with my son in tow. Very comfortable place with lots of space and power outlets needed during the business day. He had the kids PB&J and fruit - both very fresh and fantastic. I had the chicken salad sandwich on multigrain with a side of apple coleslaw. It was the real deal. read more

This is a great place to get coffee and a muffin. Lots of seating with great WIFI. Love the atmosphere of this place and the staff is very friendly. TIP: There is plenty of parking in the rear of the building with a rear entrance if you don't see a spot on the street. read more

I would not recommend this cafe. The menu was very difficult to read. The service was slow and with no one in front of me waited five minutes to get my order placed. The food here is very overpriced for the quantity and quality. It did take forty minutes after placing my order for my food to arrive. The muffin I got stuck to the paper and practically had to dig it out of the wrapping. The flatbreads were overpriced, dry, and had very little toppings on them. Coming in from out of town, I dropped by Hazel's with friends for lunch this past Sunday. It was our first visit. Though the menu is limited, we all gave a thumbs up for our fresh and satisfying sandwiches and sides, and we thought the prices were reasonable given the quality. I have been to Hazel Cafe three times. The first time was awesome. The employees were friendly and polite and coffee drink I ordered was amazing. The second time I was treated poorly by the owner as I stood in front of the register and was ignored. The owner finally acknowledged me (I knew she was the owner do to her T-shirt that said boss lady) and said she would be with me soon. I can't stand still to save my life. So I started to move around looking at all the goodies. Another man came up and stood in front of the registers then owner than came over and took his order without paying any attention to me. I understood it was the lunch hour but it seemed they were overwhelmed with the amount of business. So I thought oh well what I purchased was good. I had a friend in town and wanted to go to lunch with her. Thought maybe this visit would be better. . The same woman did the same thing to me the next time I was in letting me know she would wait on me in a minute and the a few minutes later asking me to step a side and help a to go customer who hadn't even paid yet. After I ordered I sat down at a table that had garbage all over it and read the sign that stated leave baskets here or put on top of garbage area. If you don't have the staff to cover table pick up just ask the patrons to throw away trash. The food is fantastic but the service is disappointing. read more
