The bf and I were on the hunt for a low key bar after dinner on a Saturday and Yelp led me to Hazel. Art, Bar, Community - I'm in! Right on South Pearl St. and not very busy at about 8 or 9 pm on a Saturday, they've only been open about a month. They claim to be a neighborhood bar and let me tell you, for being just a bar baby, this place had me feeling right at home. Service was fantastic and super friendly and everyone was so approachable, even the owner who was behind the bar. They don't have a drink menu, but I was encouraged to order anything my little heart desired and they would get it done. Whiskey mule for me and an old fashioned for the mans and these bad boys were skkkrronngg and delicious - exactly how we like them. And as if the drinks and fantastic service weren't enough, Hazel also had my fave old school vibes coming at me from all angles. A little early 2000s music here (hi there, All 4 One "I Swear" and Shania Twain " Still the one", I've missed you!), some dope street sign portrait art hanging there, and my favorite throwbacks of the night: an old school, wall mount, turn handle pencil sharpener right next to an awesome old cigarette machine that now dispenses $5 art. Great bar with a casual and artsy vibe. Affordable drinks: $4 canned beer (Friday night). This is actually a cocktail bar but I was in a beer mood plus I'm broke. Local art covering the walls. Friendly bartenders. Awesome neighborhood. Various art events held throughout the month - macramé, watercolor, etc. Definitely the spot to be if you like drinking and art. read more

The bartender on the night of November 9th 2023 was SO rude. My friend and I were trying to order drinks and while we kindly asked what drink this one lady had at the bar (that he obviously had made) he responded with "i made that a long time ago i don't have time to remember that". He was just rude and very short tempered for no reason. Wouldn't recommend coming here. Hopefully management puts this in check because this isn't the first review about unacceptable behavior at this bar. read more

The bartender treated us like crap. Asked for the finest pager and he gave us an ipa. Took it outside after he shut down the seating area as he saw us walking toward u It. Threatened to fight me or as he liked to say' don't make me big guy you'. He was clearly high on something. Lots of aggression. Terrible service. Saturday, We had been wondering around Pearl looking for a margarita, and all the Mexican places were full up. We walked right past this joint and almost skipped it, but one of our party made the decision and we went it. Really chill, unassuming bar. The margaritas we found there were better than the ones I've previously had down the street. Service was chill. Servers were relaxed and fun. They kind of hung back and let us just be, but always managed to know when i needed another spicy Marg. Had a lot of fun and glad we ducked in. We will return!!! Thanks so much, y'all. read more

This art themed bar is great. They have a cocktail program that has many creative and traditional drinks. I am quite impressed with their whiskey drinks. They have the tables covered with paper for drawing with crayons. They supply adult coloring books for you to draw in. There is also an old cigarette machine in the front which has been filled with fun are crafts and projects. It's a really cool idea. Plus this place sits right on old south Pearl so the location is great. They don't serve food but it seems they let you bring in something you order from somewhere else. This is such a unique spot on S Pearl Street! We stoped in after dinner for a night cap. There is a welcoming vibe. Pretty dark and loud music but not a turnoff. Immediately upon sitting at a high top, someone came over to grab our drink order. The drink list was creative. I'm a HUGE peanut butter lover so I had to try the PB&J Old Fashion. It blew me away. Like seriously SO good. Everyone needs to try this. I loved the creative combo. My boyfriend got the regular old fashion which he said was strong AF (which is 100% a good thing and adds a positive approach to this post lol). We then colored some pictures (they have adult coloring books and high quality markers) and admired the art work (that we did not consider buying but were easy on the eyes while hanging). I would love if there were more interactive coloring (think hangman, tic tax toe, etc.) even though we so enjoyed coloring, we noticed a good 15 minutes went by and we didn't say a word to each other because we were so focused on the coloring. seriously I been going to hazel since day one they open. it always been a good spot I'm two blocks way from. A new bartender tall gentleman who is being bartender there usually on weekends Im not quiet sure if him is deciding how much he should charge people for drinks! truly for the past few months it's always different price for a cocktail . usually at least 2 dollars more expensive every time and his attitude terrible! not even a simile just grumpy. seriously last week not a happy hour the same drink 12 dollars! today 14 dollars ?! who sells a lousy vodka soda for 14dollars? ya sushi den ! not hazel! Cute bar on South Pearl. Has a pub-like feel, but still modern and classy. Cocktail menu is limited, but bartenders are happy to go off menu. Service was friendly and attentive. Patio is comfortable, but right on the street, so car traffic is a bit annoying. They dont have food, but allow you to order and bring your own from nearby spots. Cannot share enough positives about this spot - feels local and high-end, but so damn accessible in every way. I love! I just checked this place out because it's a new bar on Pearl St. It sits right in between Sexy Pizza and Uno Mas. Modern, yet cozy atmosphere. Full bar. Good music. Art covering the walls. The waiter came up and just asked us what type of drink we were in the mood for - liquor type and refreshing or spirits heavy and the bartender surprised us. The two drinks I had were awesome, my boyfriends were good and he liked them, but not exactly what he asked for. Unfortunately I don't know the names of any of the drinks so I wouldn't be able to order them again. But the service was so friendly, and the drink costs are very reasonable. Super cool place with some delicious drinks! This place features local artist's work and I love that! The artwork is always different. The first time I stopped here, it was night time and we were seated outside. They bartenders are really good at recommending drinks. Tell them what you like, for example, I let them know I enjoy strong, fruity drinks but don't like vodka. They made me a Paloma and it was great! My boyfriend told them he's more of a "classic" guy and they gave him an Old Fashioned. Definitely fit the tastes we wanted that night. They allow you to drink food in which is great because there are a couple restaurants next door and when I'm drunk, I like food. Oh, also the bathrooms are so cool! read more

I really wanted to love this place; friends had recommended it because of the aesthetic but our experience was pretty terrible. We went Friday 2/9/24 for Happy Hour and left after one drink without closing our tab because the line was taking so long. There was only one bartender working with approximately 30 patrons in the place and the service was incredibly slow. I felt genuinely bad for the person working but we got in line to close out at 5:31 and by 6:08 decided to just let the system automatically tip out because it was taking the bartender an average of 7 minutes per person (not even per party) to get through what I'd consider a relatively short line- we calculated the times in line because it was wild. I'm not sure if the menu includes too many complicated cocktails or the bartender was having system issues, someone called out, etc. but waiting almost 40 minutes just to pay is crazy. I can't speak for other times but I wouldn't recommend here for after work drinks with friends. read more
