I sampled their bestsellers, the flaky ham & cheese croissant, savory sausage roll, almond croissant, and tropical coconut berry croissant bun, plus a gooey cinnamon roll and the most moist berries & cream cake I've ever had (you'd never guess it was vegan). Their "San Diego Fog" latte, with earl grey, espresso, orange, and vanilla, was as unique as it was delicious, and the friendly barista made the visit even better. A few years back I ordered a cake from here for my best friend who is vegan and her fiancé who is allergic to nuts & soy (very hard to find a cake they can both have!) but Hazel and Jade has soy free vegan cake options! I went with the funfetti cake and everyone loved it.

I went here for a quick breakfast with a friend. I wasn't expecting much, but when I walked in the food looked so good. I ended up getting a ham and cheese croissant and a breakfast croissant. To my surprise I read that it was vegan food before I got my food back so I was under the impression that it would be okay at best. But fortunately for me the food tasted amazing! If you want some delicious baked goodies (not even just for vegans) I highly recommend!!

Really yummy baked goods! I can't eat dairy so the croissants here really hit the spot. The coffee cake was amazing, and the cookies are huge. It is a cute and quaint little spot. They also serve coffee and tea which I didn't get to try. It's so hard to find vegan bakeries. I will definitely be back!

They are not sacrificing any taste or flavors here! You don't have to be vegan to enjoy a vegan bakery. Hazel & Jade is creating the most delicious cakes and pastries all while remaining a true vegan facility (even creating their own "butter"). Read their website and you'll see that they even order speciality sugar to ensure it is bone-char free. I didn't even know what bone-char was or that it could be in my sugar! My husband and I are not vegans but I wanted to try something different and ordered him a small cake for his birthday. We got a confetti cake that was the cutest. It was so well decorated, a great price for the size and absolutely delicious!! This cake is made with gluten, but they even have a gluten free option for all those GF vegans out there. On top of this, I couldn't help but order a pastry while I was there and was very impressed by the "ham" and cheese croissant. They are making some really delicious treats. Cake pre-orders are easy to do on the website and I highly recommend placing one for your next special occasion, or even just to celebrate you!

I tried this place based off of a local's recommendation. My favorite was the spanakopita croissant (it's super "buttery" somehow!) The people working there were quick to give recommendations and the service was pretty quick. It's a little place so there's a couple of tables outside but I enjoyed the ambiance.

Came here as we were walking through the neighborhood. Honestly, it kinda bummed me out. The coffee was really tasteless and watered down and although all the sweets looked tremendously tasty they were all kinda tough to chew. Service was unenthusiastic. There's a cute little outdoor area to sit and their cakes online looked beautiful. All in all kinda a let down, unfortunately.

I LOVE this bakery! It's a tiny little shop but the options are vast. They have a cute outdoor seating area that is super cozy and nice as well. It's so difficult to find vegan pastries and Hazel and Jade pull out all of the stops! We got coffee cake, lemon bar, sausage roll, dill and feta biscuit, and a breakfast Sammy. Everything we got was 10/10 and we absolutely devoured it. I was especially obsessed with the lemon bar and coffee cake! If you're vegan and looking for a bakery this bakery is a must! The staff were friendly and we got lucky that it was super busy so it was very fast service. They even offer to heat anything for you if you prefer warmed food!

Everything here is vegan, from the beverages to the baked goods! Drinks come with your choice of oat or almond-cashew milk and they also offer cakes (with advance notice), plus merch like t-shirts, cups, tea, and candles/cake toppers. Service was decent, albeit not especially welcoming, and there was limited patio seating with a restroom on-site. Their pastries sounded tempting, but I wasn't craving something sweet for my first meal of the day. I ended up with a Mexican mocha (very cinnamon-y) and a croissant that was extremely dry. If heating it up was an option, no one mentioned it. My true rating is a 3.5, rounded up because I love the concept and would return if I were in the area. Though the croissant didn't particularly wow me, I'll consider it a casual reminder that life's too short to not start your day with a sweet treat :p

Hazel & Jade has become a must-stop when I visit San Diego. Their pastries are delicious, and you can also get an assortment of hot or cold beverages at their shop as well. Their shop is on the smaller side, and if you go later in the day there may not be a lot of options left (so be warned to come early, if you can.) But they have a nice little patio up front, so on a beautiful day (which SD gets many of) it's a lovely spot to sit and enjoy your tasty treats. Each time I've been the employees have been helpful and patient--I'm often thinking out loud on how many of their goods I can take with me throughout my trip. The answer is always as many as possible.

Hazel & Jade has been on my "Vegan Places to Try" list for years. I'm so glad they're still up & running, as so many vegan places have been closing recently. Wow, just wow! I got a coconut berry croissant bun & a peanut butter brownie. YUM! My boyfriend got a coconut berry croissant and says it's in the top two vegan things he's ever eaten (he isn't vegan). He was (and so was I) impressed by the flaky buttery-ness of the croissant bun. The peanut butter brownie is also yum. This brownie was like and cakey with a ganache or frosting layer. That layer had crispy puffed rice in it (a surprise to me) and it worked really well giving the brownie bite and texture. I'm used to a fudgier brownie, but this cakey brownie worked well paired with the thick ganache layer. A nice balance of flavors too with the chocolate not overpowering the peanut butter. I can't wait to eat the rest. And I can't wait to visit Hazel & Jade again! They have a bathroom for customers as well as covered outdoor seating. It's not in the nicest area and right next to a bus stop, so I wouldn't take advantage of the outdoor seating, but it's available. No room to sit inside. The staff was nice! I definitely recommend Hazel & Jade!

Incredible vegan pastries. They also have gluten free options which are equally as delicious. I love the ham & cheese croissant with mustard (not gf fyi). The vanilla latte is always amazing. Truly, everything is mouth watering. You can tell the team puts their heart and soul in their pastries and beverages. They often remember my order before I can even tell them! They are always patient and kind (it takes me a while to decide sometimes haha).

Cinnamon roll, breakfast sandwich, sausage roll, brownie, breakfast croissant, ham & cheese croissant, lemon bar, cookie (like a s'more).
    Charity T.

I loved that there was an all vegan patisserie in San Diego. I was very excited to try it. I ended up getting a lot of things to try: Cinnamon roll, ciabatta breakfast sandwich, sausage roll, brownie, breakfast croissant, ham & cheese croissant, lemon bar, cookie (like a s'more). Also not pictured a cappuccino and a San Diego fog coffee, as well as two handmade coffee mugs. The service was great. The girl behind the counter was very kind and helpful. The place is off the beaten path and small but cute. There were a couple of tables outside; Mostly just an order and go type place though. I brought my husband who is not vegan and is allergic to some tree nuts; he really enjoyed the San Diego fog, ham & cheese croissant and the sausage roll (we actually got two of each). I agree those were also my favorites along with the cookie. All the other items we purchased were just okay. This is why I am giving it 4 stars not 5. Although I greatly appreciate an all vegan bakery, half the items bought were just okay: The brownie wasn't fudgey enough, the lemon bar was too crumbly, the breakfast croissant was not flavorful (the filling that is the croissants themselves are hands-down better than any croissants. I've had anywhere vegan or not), and the cinnamon roll was a little dry. Overall, I would definitely go back for more of the items that I loved and I would try other items that I didn't get if ever in the area again. I do recommend everyone giving them a try though.

We also split a croque monsieur which was warm, cheesy, and perfect to balance out all the pastries. I wish they had real cutlery (vs only plastic disposables) for dine in customers. For example, some other specialty bakeries/shops are charging similar prices for cakes and cheesecakes that are much simpler. In comparison, Extraordinary Dessert cakes take 3-4 days to make, have 6-8 alternating layers, and are typically adorned with edible gold and/or flowers. The key is to find which items you like and which are okay to pass on next time. What we ried this time: -Match Misu Cake (7/10): ricotta cake layers soaked in matcha and layered with marscapone whipped cream. This one was pretty good and ranks in my middle to high range. I only wish there was more matcha flavor (maybe if you dine in and get the sauce, this would help) or the matcha was paired with another flavor ... either go fruity (maybe a raspberry sauce, strawberry pieces, white peach pieces, or like a peach oolong cream layer) or go chocolately/coffee (maybe had some crushed up chocolate covered espresso beans). My go to's: -Ivoire Royale (10/10) - my ultimate favorite still. If you like light desserts, white chocolate, berries, and moist vanilla cake, thus one is for you. Classy and unpretentious -Shangrila (10/10) - my other favorite and will make you feel like a princess with all the pink chocolate curls. A little bit adventurous and innocently elegant. Ones to skip: -Au Chocolate / La Bete Noire / Dame Chocolate - get the Viking instead. That's my favorite of all their chocolate cakes -Lemon ricotta - get the Passionfruit Ricotta instead -Torta misu - the matcha misu is better. The tortilla misuse made me want a regular piece of tirmaisu than a cake version -Coconut cream - not bad, not amazing though

Lines are always better with a friend and even though we all arrived before opening there was still a healthy line. I was really excited, to finally get to check them out, I saw on their socials that a new chef had taken residency and that they came with some Filipino flair. As a fellow Filipino I definitely wanted to support. I ended up ordering a lumpia roll, ube butter ensaymada, a halo halo tart and a egg sando sandwich along with an iced matcha with honey, with tip my total was $48, which isn't horrible considering these are meant to be higher quality pastries. My girlfriends and I found a table and decided we would share, I shared my egg sando sandwich and the lumpia roll, while they shared their ube butter ensaymada and the turon kouign amann. My matcha, was a horrible, it was a muddy green and really lacked any matcha flavor, my friend didn't like her matcha either and she had the miso caramel matcha. I didn't even finish my matcha and I can really take one down. We joked about how we should have opted for the orange juice instead. Now for the pastries, I was really underwhelmed by them, the ensaymada was just fine, I honestly cannot remember the taste of it, it lacked something. The egg sando sandwich, the filling was plentiful and flavorful BUT the bread was dry, was that potato bread? The texture was off for me and I ended up just scooping out the filling and eating it like that. Where the sando had a good amount of filling the lumpia roll lacked it, it was so sparse I figured it would be more like a sausage roll so I was taken aback by how little there was in it. Flavors were fine, the pastry was buttery but I just wanted a little more. The one pastry we agreed was better than the rest was the turon kouign amann, the crunchy bits of sugar was so reminiscent of turon but the filling, for me was like uncooked banana bread batter, that threw me off entirely. It was better, but not the filling. So overall, I would say it was okay, I guess for the costs it just didn't meet my expectations.

There are 3 tables in the store and a few outside the store. I'll be back when I have another sweet craving.

The employees are a mixture of a well oiled machine and great customer service. I was worried about…read moremy meter running out and was asking if i could run out real quick to add more but they coordinated on the spot and finishes my drink by the time i completed my payment. They were amazing!!! I got the biscoff matcha latte with the biscoff foam and a few slices of cake. It was soooo good. I'm going try to plan for some relaxing time next time. The inside was beautiful and peaceful. Looks like a great place to start my day.

Hinar in downtown is such a beautiful and aesthetic spot. I love their earthy color palette (I want…read morethat paint color in my house lol) and the overall vibe of the cafe. The main seating area is almost always full, but there's more indoor seating in the back through the hallway (where the bathroom is), plus some outdoor seating to the side. The drinks are really good. I always get mine half sweet, and the flavors are consistently great. They also have a ton of cute, picturesque desserts. They're a bit too sweet for my taste, but you can tell a lot of care goes into making them and they're definitely tasty. Parking can be tricky downtown, and it can get busy with lines, but it's totally worth it for the drinks, desserts, and overall ambiance. FYI, they have a new location up north in Scrips Poway, it's cute but slightly different aesthetic (umm more industrial) and is in a strip mall, so, way more parking!
