As a born & bred Pittsburgher (though Monroeville isn't really Pittsburgh, lol)...how have I never…read morereviewed the Monroeville Mall? I mean, come on, George Romero would be so disappointed. If you don't know, he was from Pittsburgh and 'Dawn of the Dead' was filmed at the mall in 1978. Probably the best thing that ever happened there. It's a mall with its anchor stores like every other mall across the country. And like those malls, it too has seen better days. Not many stores left and the ones that are still there seem old and crappy, much like the attitudes of the folks working there. I mean heck even 10 years ago, I would have said back then that it was still "ok". Not so much now. Sad but true. I don't even think of this place much unless at Steel City Con which is held next door. Long gone are the days of the suburban malls.

2.5 Stars at best. Stores are leaving almost monthly. Bath…read more& Body Works is the latest company to abandon this mall. It's now a shell of itself. It's more like a flea market anymore. Very little national stores left here now. There are more empty stores than ever before. Sad. There are a few good stores left including, Macys, Dick's Sporting Goods, JC Penny's, Kay Jewelers Hallmark, Cinemark Theater & Red Robin. Dime deals can be found but not always. Service is average at best in most of the surviving stores. The video game arcade has a Zombie Laser Tag which is a fun place to have kids birthday parties. The mall was recently purchased by Walmart and is due to be demolished in 2027 so it's fair to say that it's in a state of limbo now. We shall see how this works out.

Not a huge deal, but it would definitely be more convenient if that was the case. Back in the day, this plaza had a Giant Eagle and that might be the reason it has the large amount of parking that it does. Currently, there is a Mac Bid, Dollar Tree, beauty supply, hot tub and Ashley Furniture. The lots are fairly well maintained and marked and there are two entrances. Definitely not a destination shopping center, but great for anyone wishing to visit the small amount of stores that are in it.

Currently, I see a Dollar Tree, a Phantom Fireworks, a CosmoProf beauty-supply store, a Hot Tub Factory Outlet, and a discount store. The businesses frequently change over time. For example, the discount store used to be a couple of different businesses that went out of business. The parking lot is very large and definitely has sufficient spaces for customers' vehicles. Overall, this shopping center is conveniently located for local residents who need particular products. I would not recommend this shopping center for people who are traveling from out of town or who need to purchase everyday necessities such as groceries and clothes.

It is also fairly easy to get into and out of from the main road (Route 22) because there is a traffic light. (although the way certain parking lots are divided, it can be a challenge to figure out how to get to the main exit road). The large tenants are Michaels, Ross Dress for Less and Pet Smart. There is also a Half Priced Books, a great Indian restaurant, David's Bridal, Pizza Hut, Once Upon a Child and some salon type services. As I said, a little bit of everything. There are plenty of parking spaces, although in the one corner (near where the pizza hut is) the spaces aren't right near the business. Not a huge issue because there are spots still fairly close. Just at an odd angle to how the lot is set up.

Service businesses include Elevation Weight Loss, Milan Laser, Success Barber Shop, Deka Lash, H&R Block, etcetera. A few storefronts are empty and are awaiting tenants. Chico's is directly across the way from Coldwater in the Monroeville Mall. Here's the difference…read morebetween the two, as I see it: Coldwater is business casual and Chico's is resort wear. Monroeville's Chico's is on the small side, but they make the most of the small space and still manage to offer a great amount of trying-on area. Chico's offers great stand out pieces and often I feel like one piece from their line is about as loud as I'm willing to shout in an outfit. An entire ensemble would make me feel way too I'M OVER HERE, but if I'm looking for a little middle aged fashion focus fun this is where I turn. BTW - couldn't hate the term middle aged more, but there's a definite demographic targeted here and, well, I'm certainly it! Chico's jewelry is often way too much for me, but they have an abundance of scarves and pattern-pop in their clothing lines so there is no reason to feel unfinished or bling-deprived, if going for the whole enchilada! The Monroeville staff is very friendly and helpful and the store shows its merchandise very well. Oh yes - and there's always a sale going on!

They set up makeshift shops and lure you in with their above department stores assortments. I usually don't buy things from these places since they are so overpriced but sometimes you just need something for your costume that you can't make or buy second hand. This year we were in need of masks. Since we were portraying specific characters not just any mask would do. I found what we needed here, and though overpriced they were comparable to what I found online and more convenient to just pick up. Some interesting facts. They do not accept returns past a certain date. And when they do accept returns I am pretty sure the receipt said for store credit only. If you do stop in during the haunting season and want to buy more than one item I have a helpful hint. I purchased two masks and a fake machete. Upon checkout the clerk asks for my email to send me coupons. Within minutes I had coupons for 25% off next purchase. I was consistently emailed over the following weeks promoting different deals. So for next year, buy that one item. Then get that coupon and return to buy the other at the nicely discounted rate. Depending on what you buy that could add up to a decent savings.
