Rather than a bid on my project, I inquired about an hourly rate, which Paul readily agreed to. This allowed me to update, making finishing touch requests; extending the project an entire day, all the while fairly compensating Paul. Arriving at the worksite at 9 am, and consistently departing at 5 pm each workday; they leave the work areas as uncluttered as possible, if returning the next day. They helped me move some lighter furniture and covered the work area, protecting floor surfaces and carpeting. Paul did some carpentry, drywall repair, caulked, filled nail holes, and vacuum sanded drywall (NO dust!). They painted ceiling, walls, and woodwork. The wall/baseboard lines were brushed with precision that can only be described as 'perfect'. There was not a run, drip, smear, or spatter anywhere on completion of the work. I texted him and received no response. I called the next day. No answer. I left a voice message. No response. It has now been 5 days and I have not heard back. So this tells me all that I need to know. There are plenty of good contractors out there that are responsive and do what they say they are going to do. And they do it in a reasonable amount of time. The last thing I want or need is a contractor that doesn't show up when he says he will show up or do what he says he will do. Too bad because he would have had my business and my word of mouth referrals.

What has been far more frustrating than the failed work, however, have been the hostile interactions and complete lack of follow through from Two Men and a Gutter. Over the past year, we have spent countless hours attempting to get this issue resolved. We have made repeated phone calls, left numerous messages, exchanged text messages, and communicated directly with company representatives. Multiple times, the company acknowledged the issue, agreed that the work was covered under warranty, confirmed our account and address, and promised to send someone out to make repairs. No one has ever shown up to even look at the damage, let alone repair it. Each time we followed up, we were given another explanation, another promise, or another timeline. Most recently, we were told someone would come out once the rain had passed. The rain passed. Nobody came. Follow-up messages have gone unanswered. That was in May 2026. To make matters worse, both my husband and I have experienced extremely hostile and aggressive communication from company representatives during our attempts to resolve this issue. What should have been a straightforward warranty repair led to them screaming at me on the phone about our review of their work costing them business. At this point, we have lost confidence that Two Men and a Gutter intends to honor its warranty or stand behind its work. We honestly don't feel safe having by them back at our house either. I didn't particularly feel like getting up on any ladders myself, so turned to Yelp to find folks who could get it done at a reasonable price. Got a few different estimates and walked around the house, and while Robert didn't provide the cheapest estimate, it wasn't too far off and he definitely gave the impression that he would do the best job. When you're doing something as significant as painting your house, you don't want to cheap out. We didn't intend to have the whole house repainted, but it was surprisingly cheap to do so. It was roughly $3500 to just handle the trim, but $5000 to do the whole house - siding, doors, garage, etc. We decided to go for it and are glad we did. The pictures show what a nice job he did with the place. One thing that I think really sets Sparky's apart from typical contractors is their willingness to go above and beyond. Robert had a helper on his first day out who didn't understand that you shouldn't power wash window screens, and he inadvertently tore holes into three of our screens. I mentioned it to Robert and he replaced them with new screens at no charge. On his last day, he walked around the house and observed four other screens that looked a little worse for the wear (though they didn't have holes). He asked if he could replace those for us as well. I was pretty shocked - we had already paid him for the job, but he was pretty insistent on making the house look as good as possible. He certainly did that! One other thing that impressed me; while he was working on the siding of our house, I noticed our dryer wasn't venting properly. I called a vent cleaning service and they said they'd be out the next day. I asked Robert if it would be a problem for them to clean our vent while he was painting. He climbed up on a ladder, pulled the vent cover off, and cleaned out our vent himself - saving me a hundred bucks! Overall, we love the look of our house after Sparky's got finished, and our neighbors have given us tons of compliments. Robert would also work 10-12 hours days, frequently staying until it got dark outside. He clearly has a great work ethic and loves what he does. I'd recommend Sparky's to anyone who wants a quality job at a reasonable price.
