I've visited this office twice. My first visit was fairly typical for a new patient; however, they conducted an eye test that was not covered by my insurance--and failed to inform me of that beforehand. I found it odd that this wasn't disclosed, whether by oversight or intention. During my most recent visit, I requested to opt out of that same eye test due to it not being covered. I was informed that if I declined, the doctors would not see me and I would be charged as a no-show. This policy was never clearly communicated, which I found both surprising and misleading. Another issue arose when I needed a new prescription but wanted to keep my existing frames. I was told there would be a handling fee. This was a first for me--I've never encountered a handling fee simply for using my own frames. While my insurance does cover part of the cost for new frames with a prescription change, I prefer to reuse my current frames to save money, especially since I have multiple pairs including sunglasses and computer glasses. The staff's communication left a lot to be desired. When I raised my concerns, I was told, "You are more than welcome to see another provider in town; we are not forcing you to stay here." They're right--and I will be doing just that. Hopefully the doctors see there is an issue with their staff and communication. read more

I've spent a lot of money in the last 2 yrs here, around $600 last time I got glasses and I have ins! its time to get yearly checkup and they have a mandatory exam that I have to take for $35 and the soonest they can see me sept 25th and its august 9th. So I say no I'll go somewhere else, so I call North Idaho eye institute across the street they have no mandatory exam and to top it off my appointment is this coming Monday !!! only 6 days away instead of 2 months!!! read more

At the tender age of 81 and counting, I believe I can speak with a measure of credibility on the subject of "doctors". I've encountered more than a few at this point in life, and there are only a handful that stand out as exceptional in my experience. One such doctor is Dr. Anna Harding of Vision Source, Hayden, Idaho. Having recently arranged to seek a second opinion on a condition affecting both eyes and progressively impacting my ability to function, I drew Dr. Harding at random from their staff, and I am profoundly grateful. To be clear, an exceptional physician is, foremost, a person not just expert in their field, but genuinely willing to listen to, empathize with and willing to take the time to work with the patient to achieve the patient's desired goal. Dr. Harding has proven to be exceptional by my definition. Together we reached a solution to my issue that might not have been achieved without both her obvious expertise and her willingness to actually take my concerns into consideration. If Dr. Harding is representative of the other doctors at Vision Source, this is the place you certainly want to consider first, particularly, given that we're talking about perhaps our most precious sense; our eyesight. Wow.. very unprofessional front desk.. wasn't how they treated me it was how they are not very organized... I finally realized I just needed new glasses.. so I went home called vsp and thank you vsp, I sent my prescription and the model number of the glasses and sunglasses I want.. boom done.. great lesson today.. have your eyes checked and get glasses directly from the manufacturer they take insurance and you won't need to deal with unprofessional people.. and you save your insurance money... it's a win win read more

I am a first time customer and was highly impressed by the cleanliness and friendliness of the entire staff. From the moment I arrived I met with Jennifer the receptionist, then with the aid nurse (forgot her name), then with Dr. Scrimsher and then finally Jenna at the eye glasses area. Everyone was so kind and attentive. Throughout the entire process they let me know what was to come and with Jenna she covered the insurance coverage which helped me in my selection decision. I am grateful to find such a great place. I'm confident my husband and daughter will be pleased when they visit on Monday. read more

My College age daughter booked an appointment and went in because she felt her vision was decreasing. She was examined by one of the doctors and it was less than thorough. Her prescription was written out and she brought it home. I compared it to the previous year and knew it was not correct. We called and she was reexamined by another doctor. This was a more thorough and comprehensive exam. Her vision had decreased like we thought. Not appreciating the first unprofessional and incomplete exam! We shouldn't have to go twice. read more

After an unpleasant experience at another optical shop, I looked up other dealers of the frame we wanted for my young son. He loves these flexible frames and has just outgrown them. Well, these guys are the best. They gave us the attention we needed to find the frame size for a proper fit and were 25% less than the other store that claims to be 'affordable'. On top of that, they ordered two pairs in different colors so my son could choose the ones he liked best. Would strongly urge potential customers to seek another facility other than Hayden Vision Source. Extremely disorganized. Staff very unfamiliar with insurance benefits and will actually argue with you about your benefits causing you to have your insurance call them to straighten them out. Will do everything possible to ensure that you don't purchase your corrective lenses or contacts elsewhere. Personally feel their practices are unethical and highly discourage support of their business. read more

Sadly, our experience here was less than pleasant. The lady who "helped" us pick out my sons glasses was very rude to myself and my son. She seemed very inconvenienced by us and made me feel very unwelcome. We ultimately decided to leave and purchase his glasses somewhere else. read more

I love Dr. Sorensen and I think he was the best. His staff leave things to be desired. His former Opticians were horrible and the current Opticians are not much better. The staff can be so bad that it almost makes it not worth going to the doctor. I have been a patient of his for a long time. I recently had a eyewear issue and the Optician told me that she was not going to help me and I could go elsewhere. I also was in need of follow-up care and the doctor did not help me.
