Predatory towing! Towed my car while we were using the restroom, my car was on the truck still in the parking lot and the driver was very reluctant to let me get my purse out and quoted a $150 drop fee which I was happy to pay and said he would drop my car 2 blocks away however he would accept CASH ONLY. We were not even illegally parked, they were in the wrong and the driver was a huge jerk! The sign in the parking lot said customers only, we drove an hour to go get ice cream and we were paying customers! He said he would give me 15 minutes to come up with the cash so I was scrambling with 2 kids to find an atm In a city I was completely unfamiliar with and since it took me 20 minutes to walk with 2 kids to an atm, by the time we walked back he was gone, so I called and he said the fee was up to $300 because they took it back to the yard so I called a taxi and got to the tow yard about 5 minutes later and then he said too bad they were closed and they would keep my car overnight so I was thinking me and my kids would be stuck in Brawley all night with nowhere to go and nobody to come get us, when I expressed this to him he said for an extra $150 after hours fee they could let me get my car back the same day so In the course of an hour I racked up a nearly $500 impound fee plus the cost of a taxi and the emotional turmoil of my kids remembering what happened in the fosters freeze parking lot every single time we pass a fosters freeze. And guess what? I paid with a credit card after all. By not letting me retrieve any belongings from the vehicle I was being set up for failure, luckily my atm card was in my back pocket or we would have been totally screwed. I cannot even imagine how this would have snowballed into a huge problem if I would not have my car to get to work the next day or the implications of being stranded with 2 kids and a dead cell phone. I still my receipt and their business card in my car as a reminder of how there are some crap people in the world. read more

After getting stuck in the sand dunes, we called Hawkins towing to help and they came in 40 minutes. After hooking up the tow truck to our truck, the tow truck driver pulled the car up a hill sideways and almost flipped the car. If we did not stop him from pulling the car, it would have flipped easily. After leaving the truck sideways on a hill of sand, they tried to charge us not only the normal rate, but double. He tried to charge us for two hours after working for 20 minutes. When we refused to pay the double fee - for putting us in a worse position, he threatened to tow the car and impound it. The whole experience with Hawkins towing was miserable and I would not recommend this company to anyone. Avoid at all costs. read more

11 minutes after I called, my wife and were riding to a repair shop in an air conditioned, flat bed, passenger cab tow truck. I called two other companies that were "local", but gave response times of almost an hour. Why was response time a big deal? It was 445pm, late August, 117 degrees in the shade, with a dead fuel pump, 160 miles from home, and most of the local auto repair shops closed at 430 because of the heat. We were towed to Gonzalez Welding/Auto Repair. The shop stayed open 2 hrs past close to fix my problem, and get us home. The driver was polite and asked how long we had been stranded for, if we had eaten, and asked if we were thirsty. We had a cooler and were covered in that aspect, but the care and consideration is worth writing about. read more

You should NOT waste your time with Hawkins Towing. My friends and I got stuck in the sand and were hot, sweaty, and desperate. A man from Hawkins Towing came, hooked his truck up to ours, started pulling it sideways, and nearly flipped the truck while pulling it. My friends and I yelled at him to stop and he kept going despite our exclamations. He then offered to get into the car himself and we objected. In response to this the guy threatened to tow our car - even though he couldn't get it out of the sand in the first place. We ended up calling another towing company and the new guy that showed up criticized the other guys' technique, got right to work, and got us out in about 15 minutes. I would recommend J's Towing over Hawkins any day - the guy from Hawkins Towing clearly should not have gotten the job in the first place. read more

got stuck in sand out in the desert. on a sunday. they came no questions asked. the cab had air conditioning. the dude who towed the car was cool and gave me some water from his cooler. if you've ever been stuck in sand in the desert you know that's awesome. the only drawback was it was expensive, but seriously who else are you gonna call? read more

I was stuck in the middle of the desert by myself and they were the only company that would come to my location. Unfortunately they know that and take advantage of the fact that without them coming out you're screwed so they charge you crazy amounts. It took them 5 minutes to get my car unstuck and were at the site for about 10. They charged me for over 2 hours. I thought oh maybe they charged me for the time driving there and back too but the place was only about 20 minutes away so even with that it definitely wasn't even close to being 2 hours and they charged me for over that. I could have just left my car there and bought a new one for that price. Guy was friendly, but it was just ridiculous. read more

These guys are awesome. We got a couple jeeps stuck in some deep mud north of the Superstitions (granted, we made some poor off-roading judgements...), 35 miles from Brawley. I called around and these guys were able to come out with their 4x4 and get both of the vehicles pulled out. Only gripe was that they moved rather slowly. When paying by the hour, I expect a little more hustle. But, that being said, they had fun doing it, we had fun watching and their can-do attitude was great. We enjoyed working with them. read more

I had to have my niece's car towed from Calipatria to El Centro because the clutch went out. The driver was awesome and I later found out he was a veteran. This company is great... if you want your car torn up while they are trying to pull it out anyway they think they can. They won't hesitate to pull it sideways or backwards just as long as they get it out. Of course, your car may be in pieces when they are done. But, at least they got it out for you. Hope you have good insurance. You'll need it. read more
