Their technician is personable and knowledgeable. Services are also competitively priced compared to local competition. I've only had one instance where they lagged with service (due to rain and backlog). A live person answers when you call, they respond to emails typically same day or within 24 hours and service is friendly. Finally, they will recommend extras but I have never felt like they are pushy on this. Just tell them no if you don't want extras. Service carries over AUTOMATICALLY each year so you do have to notify them before the next season starts if you DO NOT want your service continued. You can pay for everything in advance and save a little money; this "perk" is really appreciated! This is one of the main reasons I signed up with them again this year. Finally, the compliments I receive from my neighbors about my lawn is enough reason for me to give American Lawn a fantastic review.

We have been using Dubois Tree Service for 20 years and we have never entertained the idea of using any other business and we have them out every year to help our trees stay healthy. We recently (Saturday, July 4th, 2026) had a microburst storm that literally destroyed 8 trees on our property. These trees were all about 40 years old from when we built the house. Dubois Tree Service was out on our property the following Tuesday at 8:00 with a full crew. They not only worked on our property, but also on several other properties that day. It took two days to totally clean our property, but they were out in our neighborhood six days in a row helping people with MAJOR storm damage. The quality, the professionalism, the commitment to making sure everything is done correctly, and pricing is second to none. The owner Jimmy was with the crew everyday and his wife Christine in the office kept us up to date while I am sure she was managing a hundred different calls as this again was a MAJOR storm. As you can tell by this post I cannot say enough good things about this company. If you ever want to hear more about this company from me, contact them directly, they will give you my phone number. Again, A-one in our book!

Emerald Landscaping has been our steady landscaping company at my office for a long time now and we…read morecouldn't be more grateful for their service! What's the most special part that we have seen with the crew that works here is the extra attention to details. I planted bulbs myself and a few other plants that Emerald did not put in over the years at my office. In essence, they could have just pulled out my plants as they don't match the existing shrubs and I'd have no right to complain. However, they did not. After carefully removing all of the mulch, the crew lovingly re-mulched around my bulbs and it could not look any more fantastic. Right now, someone is giving these spring bulbs even extra water and love. I am sure any other commercial landscaping company would have just ripped them out and mulched over it as fast as possible, to get to the next job. The gentlemen that show up here are very polite and professional too. They really go the extra mile and take pride in their work and it shows. Also, super fast snow removal too!

Unfortunately, at the start of summer 2026 it was clear that the drains could not handle heavier summer rains. One of the drains had water gushing out of the cleanup valve (photo). The follow-up communication with Emerald was underwhelming. They declined to help me troubleshoot the issue unless I paid a $98 site visit fee. Instead, they proposed additional work to rectify the issue without acknowledging that the work was not completed correctly in the first place. Their "proposal" is comical- it looks like something my 5 year old would draw (photo). I've since redone the work myself with a drain that is properly sloped. I've also included photos of a leaky downspout they would not acknowledge along with an upgrade I did myself with $50 in parts from Home Depot.

We contacted more than 5 different contractors; some of which were rather uninterested in even performing an estimate. On the contrary, Dave with HL Design was prompt in contacting me (same day that I inquired via home advisor) as well as coming by my property and performing an estimate. We received 3 different estimates, and ultimately chose HL Design seeing as his was the best combination of value and quality body of work. The job itself turned out excellent and was completed on the timeline we had agreed to. One other thing I found interesting was that all other contractors felt they could easily disconnect and reconnect my AC unit since we wanted the unit to sit on the patio itself. HL design however suggested we call a professional to have this service done. This may have been an added cost but I believe it was the right advice seeing as there is much more that went into this than I had expected. I used Tony with Urbana HVAC for this and he was awesome in coming out on very short notice. That said, very happy with the work of HL design and we will surely enjoy our new outdoor living space as the weather starts to warm up!
