I wish this place was a brick and mortar! The service is really fast and friendly. The portions were great and the flavors were on point. I can't wait to try more items off their menu. I have one tiny complaint, make a really spicy hot sauce pleaseeee! The sauces are great but they are mostly sweet, I wouldn't mind one that kicks your teeth in a little bit. I've seen this food truck at the MotoMart near FVTC a handful of times, and finally decided to give it a go a couple of weeks ago.... I am kicking myself for not trying this sooner! Each time that I've stopped, I got the pulled pork sandwich, mashed potatoes, and cornbread. AMAZINGLY TASTY! Plus all of the sauces are pretty good too. You can definitely tell that everything is homemade. Overall, you get a good deal of delicious food for a pretty cheap price. If you ever see their truck around town serving food (or check their Facebook page for the day's location), I would highly suggest that you stop - you won't be disappointed! read more

Word of advice, get there early. They tend to run out, not as a result of poor planning etc, but based on the demand. I have been known to visit the food truck on back to back days and bring a group of people with me. I was happy to see that they had resumed operations for the spring. They are becoming one of those places that the locals don't want you to know about for for fear of them becoming "pedestrian". This is authentic BBQ and I am yet to be disappointed. I love Hawg Tyed. On Fridays they are close to where I work and I enjoy going there for lunch. The brisket and pulled pork is my favorite but I have never had a meal from there that I didn't like. I would highly recommend stopping by when they are in your area. They are getting busier so I would follow them on facebook or twitter to follow where they will be but they are usually on Bluemound at MotoMart on Fridays, Citgo Southsider on Oneida on Saturdays and Citgo Northsider on Sundays. This is real BBQ not just the fast food junk. Everything is made the right way (low and slow). I have not had anything that was not great. My personal favorites are the brisket and the pulled pork topped with the whiskey BBQ sauce. I grew up in the south on real southern BBQ and this stays true to that flavor. read more

Hawg Tyed recently did the catering for our wedding. It was amazing! We had the pulled pork, brisket, green beans, garlic mashed potatoes, and mac and cheese. We had so many of our guests remark this was the best wedding food they have ever had! The DJ even came to me before dinner and said that he was really excited we were having Hawg Tyed because they were so good. The brisket and the mac and cheese were especially big hits, but all of the food was excellent. Dennis was wonderful to work with! He was super nice, very professional, and answered emails quickly! As someone who grew up in Kentucky (and therefore knows a thing or two about BBQ), it is not a stretch to say Hawg Tyed is by far the BEST BBQ I have had. Whenever I'm in the Appleton area I always stop by for some pulled pork with homemade BBQ sauce (not to mention their delicious mac 'n cheese and cornbread). They have great prices, and they obviously put time and effort into serving quality food. Plus, the staff is friendly; it always reminds me of that good ol' fashioned "southern hospitality", which can be hard to find up North. This may just be a food truck, but it really gives off a small town community feeling. Love it!! read more

We've followed their trailer for a couple of years. Best bets are the Pulled Pork, St. Louis Ribs and Brisket from a taste consistency view. Sometimes a bit heavy with the cracked pepper in the rub, but it scrapes off easily and the rest tastes great. Brisket melts in your mouth. Not a big fan of the chicken wings, they've been very inconsistent, fatty to overly dry when we've had them. Sides are okay, potatoes way too much pepper. Go early because they are often out of best sellers fast, my main gripe. No ribs at 11:30 many days with 10-2 service. You can call ahead to have them hold a rack, which we have done as we live a ways out. read more
