I recently experienced my very first vacation condo rental at Marine Surf. And let's just say, my…read moreexperience was beyond expectations! Marine Surf is centrally located in the heart of Waikiki where you can literally walk to the beaches, bus stops, the International Market Place, tons of ABC stores, vast amounts of shopping stores and food places. There's even a shopping plaza a few steps from the front entrance of the condominiums. With the condo I stayed at, it came with an assigned parking slot in the parking garage. There is a magnetic key which is required to enter the garage structure and also is required when you use the elevators to go on any level (except the 1st floor). I pretty much felt safe and secure while staying at Marine Surf for the week. There are laundry rooms available where you need a specific card (given by the owners) which credit can be refilled by making payment at the card machine in the lobby. There is also a swimming pool on the 4th floor if you do not feel like swimming in salty waters. The only con I can think is the the slight noise level when I have the balcony sliding door open. Because it is in the heart of Waikiki, I can hear the buses go by, people walking/chatting, the nearby bars playing music. However, when the sliding door is close, the noise was at a bare minimum, and I slept so well each night. Bobber, the owner of the studio condo I rented from has two studios next to each other. He calls both of his studios, WaikikiLux because one ... it is in Waikiki, and two ... both of his studios provides the luxurious experience with beautiful interior designing and furniture, clean full kitchen, fully stocked necessities (like cooking equipment, bathroom toiletries, beach towels, iPod docking system, etc). For more information or if you would like to rent at WaikikiLux, go to: http://www.vrbo.com/190725. I definitely recommend renting a condo rather than staying at a hotel because it is cheaper and you feel like you are living as a local resident in Hawaii! And Marine Surf is a great place to rent!

Even though it's just a few miles from my home, the waterfront house feels like it's a whole other world--in a good way. The cottages are all steps from the sand/water, and if you look out the windows from some angles, it looks almost like the waves are flowing right under the house! The property is next to White Plains Beach, but in a secure, gated area, far from that beach's parking lot and set back from the road. Our cottage is a wood house with vaulted ceilings and tongue & groove walls (there are a few other wood houses, and some hollow tile duplex cottages). I think they also call it the Cedar House, but I have no idea if it's really cedar or what. It's rustic, but super spacious, with 2 bedroom & 2 bathrooms, wraparound lanai, long driveway and of course, amazing ocean views with a sweeping view of town all the way to Diamond Head in the distance. There is tons of space on the lanai to enjoy the views and sun, plus store surf/stand up paddle/body board storage and any other ocean toys you bring with you. There's an outdoor shower plus hoses so you can rinse down your gear. For less than the price of a hotel room (per night), this place has a full kitchen, outdoor hibachi, and so much space! If you have access to the cottages, I highly recommend staying here! Just a couple pointers: While there are adequate cooking utensils, pots & pans in the kitchen, there are no food items whatsoever. In addition to your food to cook/microwave/grill, remember to bring your condiments & seasonings plus foil/food storage bags, etc. There are really basic hibachi brush & tongs that you can use, but if you'll need your own charcoal, etc. if you want to grill. The Barbers Point folks have an "insect warning" to let you know that they do treat the facilities for insects, but there will still be "critters" that live here with us all. We've seen only tiny ants, and flying carpenter ants & termites. We grabbed a bottle of termite/carpenter ant spray at City Mill to keep them under control, after they had a party outside under a lanai light our first night here. If you they don't bother you or you don't intend to spend time outdoors at night (with the lights on), then you can leave the alone. We just wanted to discourage them from coming around, and most definitely want to avoid bring them home with us when we leave. I hope this review doesn't bring so much attention to the facilities that it becomes hard(er) to get a reservation, but if you have access, it's really worth it to spend some time here. With a little advance planning it's a great staycation location out in "the country". Enjoy!

Despite Mother Nature's blessings, our family had an uneventful, yet relaxing time telling stories, playing cards, backgammon, and eating like there's no tomorrow; serious grazing. There's something to be said for having nothing to do. The rain slowed things down and forced us to just be, instead of doing so much. Exactly what a vacation should be. Now only if we could get the kids on board with that. This is the second time our family has rented this property. The main house has three bedrooms and two bathrooms, one tub and one shower. The living room area is nice sized, however the kitchen is a bit small but totally workable. The dinning room table doubles as a poker table. Full size washer and dryer available and with its own access via the outside deck. Totally separate is a two-story dwelling that houses two apartments that each sleeps four with its own bathroom/shower facilities and kitchenettes. The beach is typically beautiful with Goat Island in the distance. Lovely swimming holes immediatley out front, however this all looked stormy and fierce during our most recent stay. Nice place to surf and paddle board when the conditions are right. The deck and landscaping are charming additions making you feel at home, allowing you to sink in like you own the place.
