My sister and I stayed here for several days and did not feel it was unsafe. But know what you're getting into. There is a tiny lobby that's open from 8 am to 8 pm. The rooms are tiny -- think European capitol-sized -- with concrete block walls. The elevator is on the street, next to the lobby, and is accessed with your room key, right from the sidewalk. The carpet hasn't been cleaned in many months (or maybe years) and the pillows and sheets are not new. There is a Korean BBQ food truck next door and you can smell BBQ being grilled all day and Into the night (this was not a negative for us, BTW). There is no housekeeping service unless you're staying for over a week. There is no pool or gym. This is not a resort hotel by any means. But you're a couple of blocks from the beach in the middle of Waikiki. How much time are you going to spend in the room, anyway? If you're like us, not much. And you can borrow beach towels and boogie boards for that beach visit -- and use the sunscreen and the mosquito spray before you head out on adventures. There are dozens of restaurants within just a few blocks. As long as you're not entertaining customers or having a romantic weekend, it's a great place to stay.

Located behind the grand Hyatt Regency Hotel. Tons of food options and ABC stores nearby. Friendly staff and they even offer boogie boards, snorkel equipment, and other swim items to borrow. Super friendly staff. Our room had a refrigerator and microwave which we utilized everyday. On the downside, the beds are not the most comfortable. If you can put up with the Korean BBQ smell all day from the food truck next door, you'll be fine. If you're on a budget, this is the spot in Waikiki.

Room is spacious with a living room area that divides the sleeping room. Bathroom is twice as big compared to other hotels. The location is also excellent right in the center of Waikiki and within easy walking distance of so many great food options, shops, and attractions. The rooftop pool and hot tub are a nice bonus and a relaxing place to unwind after a day out. The gym is well maintained and has weights, a Peloton, one treadmill, an exercise bike, and two ellipticals. My only wish is that the gym was larger and had a wider variety of exercise equipment. Overall, Hokulani is a comfortable, convenient, family-friendly place to stay, and we always look forward to coming back. Pro tip: you can only ask for a later checkout the day of at 6:00AM. I wish I would have known sooner. Checkout is 10:00AM, late checkout is an hour later at 11:00AM. The receptionist told us all the checkout spots were taken, but was nice enough to let us stay till 10:30AM.

The room has a great galley kitchen with all utensils, glasses, plates, full fridge with ice maker, microwave, etc. The bathroom is so huge and luxurious, separate tub and shower and bidet. My room had NO view, basically looking at another building. I was On the 7th floor. The rooftop pool is spacious and I liked the plunge pool and spa. The bar was closed which was disappointing. For the price and the room details I would definitely stay again.

It is very comfortable clean Hawaiiana Style ( IYKYK) (for that reviewer that said dirty-smelled obviously doesn't stay in Hawaii or has never stayed on the islands very often) , anyways-its perfect for two or three people. She stocks everything for the stay from TP to drinks to goodies, breads, sweets,fruit , left in the microwave, on dishes, including anything and everything you would need to have a wonderful stay. The lanai was beautiful and had the most gorgeous view of the beach and ocean. The staff was exceptional and very accommodating. Valet service was excellent. They parked our vehicle and had it ready on a moments notice when we wanted to go out somewhere. They brought our bags to our room and were so happy and helpful. Jessica at the front desk helped check us in and escorted us to our room. We were greeted with leis, juice and moist towels. We were given a complimentary beach bag with our own water bottles, and sunscreens. We had chocolates as a gift on the table at arrival as well. The hotel upgraded us to an unobstructed view of the beach on the 7th floor. We were awestruck by the beauty. We were welcomed to a beautiful unit with hawaiian music playing from the stereo in the background. The welcome was so wonderful. We had a beautiful pool and spa to use and a very nice weight room as well. Water refill stations were available all around the hotel which was also a nice bonus. The walk to the beach was just outside the hotel doors. We loved every minute of our stay and didnt want to leave. Thank you to all the staff of this hotel. We would love to come back. While staying at the Aston Waikīkī Beach Tower in an 11th-floor suite (specifically Unit 1102)--one…read moreof the two center oceanfront units on the floor, which we booked via Airbnb--we enjoyed a beautiful, spectacular oceanfront view and a prime location close to restaurants, shops, and the beach. However, my stay fell well short of expectations, particularly given the high nightly rate and total cost on Airbnb. The property manager, Midori, was responsive and tried to communicate on our behalf through the platform, but the owner's response and the overall condition of the unit were very disappointing. A vacation should be about rest and relaxation, but my stay in this unit was overshadowed by several clear inconveniences and safety hazards: 1. Plumbing & Maintenance Issues: The main bathroom sink ran hot on both handles. Having to wait a minute to flush out hot water to reach a usable temperature is unacceptable, especially with a young child who complained about the hot water while using the sink. Management dismissed this after our departure by stating the water merely "runs warm," ignoring the fundamental expectation that one handle should run cold and the other hot. Additionally, the tub spout in the small bathroom drips water while the shower is running--while not an immediate emergency, replacing the diverter/spout would prevent unnecessary water waste. 2. Odor, Filter & Lighting: We experienced a lingering odor related to the water tray/refrigerator area as well as flickering lights in the small room. I even had to notify Midori and Elaine during our stay that the refrigerator's "replace filter" light had come on, highlighting a general lack of proactive maintenance. Management brushed off our concerns by noting there were "no past complaints," treating the issues as if they were fabricated rather than addressing the actual problems present during our stay. 3. Disturbances: I stayed in the small room to the right of the front door and was subjected to loud early morning construction and street noise starting as early as 4:00 AM. When this disturbance was raised, owners/management offered no solutions or basic noise mitigation, such as providing earplugs or noise-canceling headsets, leaving guests to suffer through sleep disruptions during a time meant for relaxation. Hoping to resolve things amicably, I raised these reasonable concerns and reached out to ask if the owner would offer a partial refund as a gesture of goodwill for the disruptions and safety issues. Unfortunately, no compensation or goodwill gesture was granted. Instead, the owners chose to focus on self-defense rather than guest comfort or committing to actual repairs. A prime location and spectacular view cannot make up for unaddressed safety hazards, persistent noise, basic maintenance failures, and a complete refusal to offer customer recovery. Future guests considering booking this center oceanfront suite on Airbnb on the 11th floor (specifically Unit 1102) should be aware that ownership tends to dismiss valid feedback rather than taking accountability. Note to Future Guests: As shown in the resort's response below, Aston Waikīkī Beach Tower management does not oversee Unit 1102. When booking this unit as a private vacation rental, you are entirely reliant on the private owner/property manager, who declined to address these maintenance and safety concerns.

We would need to text for room cleaning services daily with Hilton Honors. Which I am used to one cleaning a stay through HGV - so that's interesting and a nice treat. I like that they have text capability for the front desk or housekeeping. So much easier than being in hold on the phone. The service here is really good and attentive. Though it's not very often that a late checkout free or paid is available. Of course that's a good thing because it means that we are picking up in business for the hotels.

There is a daily amenity fee of $37. The decor made you feel like you were in an Elvis movie, with interesting era-appropriate art and furniture. They have a coffee shop by the check-in desk, great to go order your morning latte. The restaurant is also in the lobby. The bartender is impeccable and original. The pool is on the smaller side, but not highly used so it never felt crowded. It also had ample seating. It's location is nice, you are just off the very busy main Waikiki commercial area, but close to shops, dining and the beach. Cons: Don't ever let them stick you in room 241. (My husband made the reservation, so I have to admit he might not have read the fine print.) I thought I was in hell. It would have been more relaxing to sleep on a park bench. It smelled horribly musty. The floor was curling up on the edges from an obvious moisture issue. The floor was so dirty that it stained your clothes, I'm not sure if it had ever been mopped. Then there was the brain-shattering noise. The first night I thought it was from the parking garage (which was our only cement view with bird crap) and cars revving. By the next evening, I realized that we were directly over the restaurant, and next to the elevator and air conditioning system and near an ice machine. Every few minutes a huge rattling swoosh would occur ALL NIGHT AND DAY. It was so bad I cried. Floor two also happens to be the dog friendly floor. I don't own a dog. All I heard was dogs being taken in and out to poop at all hours. Ugh. We had made reservations well in advance, and had requested to be near the rest of our family in another room. We ended up on another floor well away from them, which was disappointing. Parking is horrible and not in the same building. The garage can't handle anything larger than a sedan, so we ended up paying for a private lot for the week. I didn't hate the place and would consider staying there again for the price, but only if I was sure to get a better room.
