Fun with a traditional Hawaiian stick game.

The staff... Friendly and attentive. The food... Varied and spectacular! The setting... Gorgeous, with a view of the Pacific framed with palms & tiki torches. Perfect! We also loved that this luau was so family friendly, with fun games and dances to learn and try. This luau was a 10 for our family! We were delighted that our picky teenage girls loved their first luau experience, too.

We had a great time! The entertainment was fantastic, delicious food, comfortable seats and the drinks were flowing. We even liked our family photo (and bought it - $25 for a family photo is a steal TBH). The food was good, we especially liked the grilled shrimp. Lots of options and they managed the crowd very well so you never had to wait in line. They had some fun activities too including tattoos that my kids loved. Luaus are a bit of a splurge in my book but this one was worth it for us. This was my first so I can't compare but the food, open bar and entertainment made it a really enjoyable experience for the investment. I'd recommend it!

Excellent luau. We've been to several luaus on the big island and this is by far the best one. The ohana (general) seating is pricier than others but worth it. Valet parking is complimentary. Servers were super friendly. You get a kukui nut lei and a drink as you walk in. It's a small luau - less than 200 people and not many kids, which was great. It felt more relaxed - not rushed. The musicians played the whole time. There were also some games and things you do before dinner was served. The food was pretty good for being a buffet. The bartenders were also great and there was never much of a line at the bar. The show itself was also great - sharing the history of Hawaii Loa.

I give this luau 5 stars! It was amazing and top of the line, best of all the food and desserts were excellent! The location was perfect and breath taking. My family and I really enjoyed our time at this luau and they do mot disappoint. The Polynesian show was spectacular, a lot of historic information behind it. They greet you with kukui necklaces, and a lot of activities to keep you busy. We had Ali'i VIP seating which made everything that much better. Definitely recommend this luau, and must try! Performances were amazing, food was great , the roasted pig was delish and the sunset photos were incredible. We got the preferred seating definitely worth it.

Can't go to Hawaii without experiencing a Luau! Came here with a group of friends to celebrate a bachelorette party. The food was amazing and plentiful being that it was a buffet. Loved the ambience and the weather was perfect. The bartenders were not skimpy on the alcohol which was a great surprise since the tickets included free cocktails and drinks. The show itself was great. I would only give it a 4 star rating because it seemed to have been much shorter than we were all anticipating. Was still overall a great experience and I would still come back if I were in the area again.

This luau is located at the Fairmont Orchid resort. It's a bit pricey compare to the other ones on the island, but it was worth it!! The entire performance from beginning to the end was fun and captivating. Their buffet style dinner was really yummy and drinks were great as well.

My husband & I booked the Hawaiiloa Luau at the Fairmont Orchid in May 2022. We we're already staying at the Orchid for our 15th anniversary trip. It was amazingly convenient that we could just walk over from our rooms and enjoy the fun, plus it was one of the less expensive luaus in the area when we were looking at all the options. When we checked in, we were given the choice of a mai tai or a non alcoholic juice, then we we're seated at individual tables (which was nice!). Live music was playing as the stars began to shine above us, the weather... perfect, and as the Mai tai began kicking in we both found ourselves saying 'this is the life!'. Our announcer kicked things off with some family friendly games while everyone was arriving. Open bar with all drinks included in the price. The buffet was plentiful and all the food was delicious.. make sure you come hungry so you can try everything! The show, the music and the dancers were fantastic. Everything was very respectful of Hawaiian culture & history, and our announcer made us feel like family. The fire dancer was phenomenal.. Wowee that was so much fun to watch! We had a great night- it's totally worth seeing a luau while in Hawaii and this one was a great show.

It was very short and rushed luau compared to other luau i have been to! Food was decent, was surprised they had vegetarian options which were delicious! One of the best mac nd cheese I have eaten.

The check-in process was quick and seamless, first receiving a complimentary Mai tai, then leis from very welcoming greeters, last, taking a family photo with the photographers. The venue was beautiful and spacious even though it was moved inside due to possible rain. The yard games with members of the cast before the luau was a hit for all the kids in attendance. We were all looking forward to the food as we had heard amazing things about it and it did not disappoint! They had a large keiki buffet table for the kids which our 10 year old niece loved. The adult table had a large variety of options. The local dishes of Poke, poi, lomi salmon and Kailua pork were so flavorful! The show itself was beautiful. We enjoyed the MC, Sefa's storytelling of Hawaii history and voice as he sang. The band and hula was all incredible. You really saw the dancers skill and joy as they performed. The show wrapped up with one of the best Fire-knife performances! Our niece had a front row seat on the lawn to watch and was captivated the entire time! Thank you Island Breeze for such a beautiful evening and creating a space for our family to make memories we'll hold forever.

We got premium seating at $730 for three people. We had our own table at the front of the show, leis included ($10 if you do not purchase premium seating), and first service to the buffet. That's pretty much all of the bonus that comes with premium seating. We got our family photo taken, and it was a very beautiful photo. $25 to download the image without a watermark, $35 to get it printed. If you do choose to get the image, download it for $25 and get it printed at Walmart or CVS for $2. The staff who checked us in, seated us, and served us were all very friendly, chatty, and kind. They did a wonderful job. The dancers and band were wonderful, and I appreciate the dedication to describing what a luau resembles; an ancient Hawaiian royal feast. The pork was delicious, and being able to see it taken out of the ground was a really neat experience. Be sure to check in early (5pm for premium, 5:15 for standard) and be first in line to everything, because the line for the bar, tattoos, games and activities, and crowd around the pig build up fast. They have a wide variety of traditional Hawaiian dishes, familiar food for kids, seafood, pork, chicken, beef, sides, and desserts at the all you can eat buffet. Their drink menu is extremely limited; for $750 I would have expected access to Piña Coladas and dacharies, something blended. The teriyaki beef had good flavor but was very tough. Our session ended at 8. At 7pm, the event was called off because the rain was too heavy. This makes sense; there's a lot of danger for the dancers to be on such slippery floors, the buffet food had been soaked, no fire dancers could perform, etc. I understand they can't control the weather. We reached out and asked for a refund, and they offered for us to come back on Tuesday. That is not possible, as we fly out tonight (Monday). They say they do not offer refunds if rain causes the event to end early, and we are now in contact with management. Their choice to completely cancel the show instead of moving it inside or something of the sort was very disappointing, and our experience was not at all worth the almost $800 we spent. Review update; they gave us a 2/3 refund for the rain, which was much appreciated! Mahalo for the wonderful time. And yes, printed is $30 not $35, I had read the numbers wrong. We had a good time, but it would have been much better if a few tweaks were made. Mahalo for the friendly staff, great dancers, great band, good food, and education about Pacific Islander history! I hope to see some adjustments made for future guests to make the most of their time and money.

I thought it started at 5, but the doors actually didn't open til 5:30 so we were waiting around for a bit. The welcome drinks were nice, as were the activities, though there were only three: bracelet making, stamp art, and a game like bowling (we didn't do it so I don't know the name). There wasn't actually a ton of time before the program started so this worked. The drinks tasted good but were very watered down. I had about 4 and didn't feel much of a buzz. They had us line up and get food and there was plenty. The poke was disturbingly fishy tasting (not good), but I liked the POG butter and rolls, mac salad, beef, pork (a bit too salty) and chicken. The fish was ok. It would have been nice if they had a few more options for fruit. The desserts were actually really good, I thought. I loved the fluffiness of the chantilly cake, and the pineapple upside down cake was also good. The passion fruit muffins tasted good and had a dense texture that grew on me, but when I got my own it had lots of hard lumps in it and I was a bit put off. The show was nice with a band and explanations about local culture and legends and a little history. I like how they moved through time with it and covered different regions like you were on a tour. I honestly got a little bored at the act before the fire dance and my kid almost wanted to leave, but then it was the fire dance and we were good and that was the last part. The timing was just right in my opinion. Overall, a touristy thing to do for sure. The price is on par with other places in the area and since we were staying at the hotel this was a no brainer. I'm glad we went for my own curiosity and for my kid to experience it, though my husband was bored. It was a good experience and well orchestrated.

Preferred is more expensive than general but your party will be seated closer to the front without other people sharing your table. Your party will also be called earlier for the buffet. Check in started at 4:30pm and gate opened at 5pm. A welcome drink (choice were mai tai and a non-alcoholic drink) is available for everyone. The mai tai was good. At our table, we had smoked pork, smoked salted macadamia nuts, and banana bread waiting for us. The wooden serving plate designed and shaped like a pineapple where these were served was cute and covered with plastic wrap. I suggest that once you know your assigned table, you proceed to the side and try some activities to avoid a line or the number of people who would like to try them later as well. These activities were fun and guided by staff. They included orchid lei bracelet making, traditional Hawaiian printing, and traditional games. Traditional artist/crafts were available at the back. Open bar was also located at the back. There were a lot of cats in the field. I would not leave the table that long if you have food that is exposed and unattended. The cats would roam around and some would climb on the table to get appetizers/food. Dinner was buffet style with different dishes: salads, taro rolls, (and different butters), kalua pork, fresh catch of the day (this grilled fish was soo good), chicken, among many others. I liked the desserts which included Kona coffee chocolate cake, pineapple upside-down cake and another one. We enjoyed dinner while listening to the live music/singing from the musicians. The program was good. Comparing this to a different luau in Oahu, even though there were fewer performances and fewer performers in this luau, the performers were very good and very graceful. They had great stage presence. There was a part when a few guests were invited to the stage for a hula dance. The fire dance by the chief was awesome. Very impressive. The photo opportunity at the end of the show was different. The performers remained on the stage and did not go down to be closer to the audience, unlike the other luau I went to where the performers warmly interacted with the audience. Had a great time here. Weather was lovely - no rain and the temperature was just right from that afternoon until the show finished at about 7:30pm. All in all, though the performances, activities, and interaction with the performers were less compared to another luau, the food and performances were great. Would give this a 5/5.

Before going to your assigned seating in the covered pavilion, you can partake in the Hawaiian cultural activities in the lanai, and get your pictures taken underneath the beautiful garden backdrop! Then when you're ready you get escorted to your table for the luau pre-show! I gotta say - the highlight of the night is the luau dinner, pretty swanky! Before they call you up to the buffet line by table, they bring out the whole roasted pig for showing off as it heads to the display line for service! I noticed though that the pig is not made in an underground imu as is the traditional Hawaiian method - it is cooked in a Caja China, which can also produce succulent meat! The buffet is stacked well, and you can go back as your heart desires! So much to eat: Salads -Hawaiian Chopped Salad -Caesar Salad -Kula Beets with Arugula (for you vegans) -Soba Noodle Salad Entrees -Whole Roasted Pig -Macadamia Nut Crusted Fresh Fish Catch -Westside Huli Huli Chicken -North Shore Oahu Garlic Shrimp Sides -Wok Fired Island Vegetables -Local Molokai Sweet Potatoes -Ginger & Soy Steamed Bok Choy -Garlic Mushroom Fried Rice There's even a Build your own Poke Station with ahi and kimchi tako poke and tons of condiments! AND even a Keiki Menu that includes Fried Chicken Tenders and Mac & Cheese! I know this isn't what folks in ancient Hawaiian times ate, but cheee hooo the food overall is ONO! The Kula Beets with Arugula and Soba Noodle salads were faves! Some crazy flavor combos going there and good starters! Cannot go wrong with a poke bowl with your own fixings as an appetizer as well! The Whole Roasted Pig was nice & moist (especially the belly sections), delicious when served with the mu shu buns, poi, pickled vegetables, and hoisin chili sauce. Like basically an Asian taco! The Macadamia Nut Crusted Fresh Fish was delectable too, delicate fish with their mild Thai coconut curry sauce was very good! The North Shore Oahu Garlic Shrimp was liked as well, so much garlic and lemon butter! And what goes well with protein? Why, a heaping serving of Garlic Mushroom Fried Rice of course! More of a modern meal take on the Hawaiian luau, but I ain't mad! I made sure to eat enough for my ancestors HA! After the buffet dinner, relax, digest and get ready for the show. The Tales of the Kapa Moe! Great local host, makes you get interactive too, work off some of that luau food! The show is a lively depiction of a day in the life of the Hawaiian ancestors, showcasing the different tasks of everyone in the village. Many tales to enlighten your senses: *Koʻi Honua - A story of the creation of the islands *Pele - Goddess of the volcano and its molten lava *Kanehekili - God of thunder bringing forth rain to start growth *Laka - Goddess of the forest and all earthly vegetation *Ka I ka hoe - Audience participation chant lesson *Huakaʻi Hele - Migration of our ancestors from the south pacific *Ka wailele o Honokohau - Acrobat in the form of a waterfall *Ae Kakou - Men dance expressing their love for fish and poi *Lānaʻi - The beauty of Lānaʻi displayed as our women dance in a cloud *Moea awakens - Fire finale representing that the fire of our people its heritage will continue to live and burn strong And while you're enjoying the history, don't forget to grab some desserts: -Mochi Tart (must try!) -Mango Pudding -Mango Cheesecake -Kapalua Bar -Macadamia Chocolate Crunch Cake What an experience of a luau, very nuanced! Especially the fire show at the end, super LIT is an understatement! My only note is that this luau is a bit pricey for the 3 hour dinner & show - about $260 per person for Ohana Seating, and about $316 per person for the Ali'i Premium Seating (right near the front row). But if you're a kama'aina don't despair - let them know and you can get 20% off with valid Hawaii ID! Awesome time for wifey & I at the Tales of the Kapa Moe Luau Show! The show was good. My family had never been to a luau and they liked it. I had been to one on Oahu last year that I liked better. It rained the night of our show. They provided ponchos when we got seated, which was beyond expectation, but we were already soaked from waiting 45 minutes in line to get in. It would have been nice if they had come down the line and handed them out as the rain started. The parking situation was poor. Paid $10 to park at the hotel and the lot was not lit at all. I think we were in overflow parking that is typically for staff. The path way to walk from the car to the luau was unlit, through some storage areas/tennis arena with a significant grade and stairs without handrails. I had to use my phone flashlight and worry about my 74 year old father with an unsteady gait. Very dangerous. If they ran out of space, they should have put us in some of the open valet spaces we walked past (that were abundant). Overall, I was underwhelmed. Over $1100 for the 6 of us. I expected better.

They weren't good at all. FOR THAT MATTER, none of the food was very good. ....typical buffet food, not hot etc. My husband expected a grand introduction of the pig. it was barely mentioned which was fine with me! The dancers were very good. You could tell that they were putting their heart and soul into their craft. I LOVED the fire dancers. They were amazing. It is hard to enjoy or appreciate the ambiance when it is raining hard and you are getting soaking wet. They did nicely provide ponchos.

This was not a traditional luau that you're probably used to. Upon arriving, we thought we had to…read morebe at the wrong place because the intimate setting/venue is a golf course clubhouse turned into a very small seating area and a super TINY stage that fits at most 6 dancers. The stage being so small, it was difficult for those in the back to watch comfortably without twisting and turning to catch the few dancers on stage. My back is literally hurting right now after watching only an hour of the show earlier tonight. For the amount of money paid for a family of 5, this was a joke. This luau is NOT worth the price paid. For a couple hundred more, we could have booked a much more authentic luau on the beach. The descriptions I found of this place only shows the close up pictures of the dancers on stage which make it seem they are at an entirely different venue. The "amazing" sunset views are obstructed by trees and you constantly see the parking lot. The pictures make it seem like it's near the beach but is it quite far on the top of a hill surrounded by a road and parking lot. This is a joke venue. It seems the owner literally paid the golf club a venue fee and then charged an arm and a leg to guests and made a killing. The dancers were the same 5 or 6 over and over just different costumes. The ONLY good is the food, free drinks and shell lei. All of that is not worth the money we paid though. I highly do not recommend this luau unless they lower the prices. I know Maui is bouncing back but charging that much is ridiculous

The food was not great. They also ran out of certain items ( is that possible for a Luau)? And some…read moreitems that were on the original menu were not even served? If we are paying hundreds of dollars for this Luau, shouldn't our expectations be met? And for those people who are at the end of line able to get the same experience as the front? Also, the seating for the show was not set up exceptionally well. Been to other Luaus where the show was seen from all areas. Find another Luau to spend your money on. The fire dancing was probably the best part because people were able to move to see it and the MC for the show was good. Also people kept standing up, so people in the back couldn't see and customers had to ask the workers to assist with having them sit down.
