Take the drive to Hawaii Kai with Costco, Ross Dress for Less, Koa Pancake House, Māla Market, City Mill and so much more it's certainly a place that many do flock over for those biz that's just a fraction to mention and many other services as well. Parking is not the biggest though somehow I do manage to find one with patience as this Town Center is divided into a couple sections which you're able to travel between them easily. What's the biggest draw for me personally is the water view in the back where there are some shaded tables though never enough as it's usually occupied by many for obvious reasons it's so easy to sip your drink or enjoy your lunch and get lost in the marina view which we're so lucky to have. A reminder to myself: do not go to shopping centers on a Sunday afternoon. Costco side was packed. City Mill side had a dozen cars with placards atop the roof with protestations against the CCP( Chinese Communist Party). Overheard a City Mill employee say, "I'm glad they are going ( majority were leaving at the same time) they're taking up our parking." Tell 'em Auntie. Shopping and dining in Honolulu, Hawaii... Do you know why this place is not called Hawaii Kai Shopping Center? Because... Hawaii Kai Towne Center is not just a shopping mall. There are many restaurants here! I've been to Maile's Thai Bistro, The Original Roy's, Mala Market, and Chopstick and Rice. I haven't been to Sushi Man, Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers, nor Koa Pancake House... Yet! I used to wonder why my sister preferred the Costco here - instead of the one in Kalihi. I think it's because there's a Ross nearby. Haha! My brother-in-law probably likes the City Mill across from Costco. In-between Maile's Thai and Panda Express, walk through the breezeway and check out the marina. There's a pavilion, tables, chairs, and a nice view! Hawaii Kai Towne Center is quite the busy place! The traffic light at the main entrance is a good thing! Without it, it would be challenging to exit the parking lot! read more

While loading up our car, we discovered the 40lb. bag of dog food had a rip in it, and Kibble started spilling out! Hawaii Kai Towne Center has various restaurants and eateries to choose from. There's also a GameStop, Ross, and Costco nearby. On Wednesday [7/11/18], my mom has to do some errands at Costco, while I had do a quick trip to Ross. When I was finished, I walked around and hung out by the seaside of the Koko Marina. This patio area had a stage for what I could only assume hosted small concerts. This area is also home to a Farmer's Market on certain days. What I loved was simply enjoying the sound of the ocean and the view of the distant mountains. There were a couple of tables lined up along the ocean's edge with umbrellas for shade, perfect for lunch with an outstanding view. For me it was one of those "soak it all in" kind of moments. What I used to take for granted everyday, is now something I greatly appreciate. read more

Lots of new businesses here. I remember growing up I loved to come to Burger King (RIP) with my Granny (RIP) and get chicken tender kid's meals that came with cool toys and the retro looking seating in the restaurant. They even had a juke box if I remember correctly! I also got lost in this City Mill and had to call my dad over the intercom from the customer service desk! This center has small shops and a great by the water open dining area. So if you want a pleasant lunch, go and buy your food and then sit out by the water and enjoy the summer shine fresh air and some company. Unfortunately the food is so so and service is also so so. Maybe they are all stressed out by Covd, so I dont take it personally but I've gone to 3 spots in past month and been disappointed by all three experiences. See my individual reviews on why. This is the first time I'm reviewing a shopping center because of their bathrooms, but during the time of this Covid-19 pandemic, I think this review is pertinent. Sometimes when ya gotta go, ya gotta go. Luckily, the restroom was open. It was clean, well lit, and most importantly, after you get out of the stall, everything can be operated hands free. You don't have to worry about getting germs turning on the water or getting soap or even getting a paper towel to dry your hands! The only small thing I noticed is that the toilet stall doesn't lock as good as it should... Kudos for everything else! *Extra note: My face mask must work pretty well because their were some ruffly sounds coming out of the stall next to me, but no smells permeated my mask! read more

When our millennial daughter visited us a couple days ago she mentioned that we have a new sandwich place in our neighborhood, so today hubby and I went looking for Mala Market at the Hawaii Kai Towne Center. It's a cute, clean sandwich shop located in the Center's courtyard/stage area, with friendly, knowledgeable staff working behind a short counter. We ordered a chicken salad sandwich, side of tossed greens and tomato soup to share - because what if it's junk? It wasn't! Chunks of chicken, grapes, walnuts mixed with I don't know what else made for a darned good chicken salad. With assorted veggies and a slice of cheese, everything came together between two slices of grain bread to form a big, delicious sandwich. The salad was fresh and the green dressing it came with was good. I thought the soup was really tart but hubby didn't think so and said it balanced the sandwich well. There were a few white cafe tables and chairs set in front of the shop, with cool breezes and a great view of the marina. There are only a few shopping centers located on the east side of Oahu. One of these is the Hawaii Kai Towne Center anchored by Costco and City Mill on the opposite end. There are other smaller brand name shops and other local businesses offering services and food choices. Costco being the giant in this center consumes the majority of parking and it is a very busy place especially on Saturdays and Sundays. Most of the parking stalls on the Costco end are striped to provide comfortable spacing between vehicles but the other end are single striped and very tight. This center has several sections with the main portion being retail then the two separate office complexes and Outback Steakhouse. Eateries in the center offer a good mix of national brand such as Raising Canes, Panda Express, Jersey Mikes and Starbucks. Hawaii Kai Towne Center is a gem for those who live on the east side! There's a Starbucks, Costco, Hair Salon, few eateries, GNC, Ross and a beautiful view in the back! AND they are dog friendly! It's so popular in fact, that sometimes it's hard to find parking. Hawaii Kai Towne Center also hosts a farmers market and zumba on certain days. If you want to grab some food to go from any of the restaurants and walk to the back near the stage area, there are plenty of tables and seats for you to enjoy your meal and to soak in the view of Koko Marina. I like coming to this shopping center not only because it has three of my favorite stores (Costco, Ross and Starbucks), but it's right next to the marina. So if you're tired and need to take a break, take a walk and relax by the marina. This shopping center is split into two sections. The first area has the City & County Satellite City Hall, Police Sub-station, Hawaii State Federal Credit Union, Napa Auto, Doctors, Roy's Restuarant, Outback Steakhouse, and many other business offices. The second area has BYOB Resturant, City Mill, Burger King, American Savings, Starbucks, Taco Delmar, Ross, Costco, Panda, Sushiman and many other eating and businesses. This shopping center host many events from concerts to classic car shows. So come on by and see what's going on. Hawaii Kai Towne Center greets everyone coming into Hawaii Kai from town and it's one of those malls, where locals tend to shop in. You'd need to pass by here if you would need to go to Koko Marina Shopping Center and Hanauma Bay, and other points of interest in East Oahu. Anchored by Costco, I agree that this shopping complex place is where the locals do their thang. It's a hub of economic activity and the engine that makes everyone thrive with life. Nothing really touristy to say about this place, especially when you can consider this like a regular suburban mall on da mainland. I guess if you fly to da mainland a lot and drive plenty, Hawaii Kai Towne Center is like any basic suburban mall - without beach front nearby. Like mentioned earlier, Costco is here, which is basically the main anchor to the shopping center. There is mucho parking here, to cater to the Costco experience. Costco basically takes up roughly half of the space in the shopping center, so you know they make up the foot traffic to this place and everyone else has to see if they buy anything else from the neighboring shops. I'm glad to see that GNC and Starbucks is here! Yay for Starbucks! Also here is Maile's Thai Bistro, although they are kind of pricey for Thai food. There is also fast food choices, such as McDonald's, Burger King, and even a Pho restaurant, but it's not that good. Trust me. The cool part of the Hawaii Kai Towne Center is Kale's Natural Foods. It's a small operation, like Umeke's in Kahala Mall, but I like supporting small business and especially buying organic healthy stuff too. There's a bunch of assorted shops, if you need them. Among them City Mill, T-Mobile, and the Satellite City Hall. I believe I got my driver's license renewed here like last year. It was pretty awesome, since they had Saturday hours and I came here early in the morning and it was fast! I usually frequent the Koko Marina Shopping Center, since it does have the 24 Hour Fitness there, but Hawaii Kai Towne Center has a good array of shops and restaurants, if you need a spice of life. The Shack Hawaii Kai is pretty good and ate here a couple times. If you are into fancy upscale dining, try Roy's or Outback Steakhouse. While I don't live in Hawaii Kai, I do enjoy coming out here and enjoying what's not Kalihi and Kaimuki, where I am very familiar with. Overall, this shopping center is great in its own way and it does certainly cater to the community. You can get pretty much anything you need here, since there is also a Longs and a Safeway int the complex, which is kind of ironic, since they're all competing with Costco. Imagine that. lol. It's nice to walk around and chill out. That's one of my favorite things to do here - besides Yelping and trying new restaurants. Explore your community! B+ read more

I work in the office park in the Towne Center and I love that management and the maintenance team are proud of their property. The place is always clean and well, maintained, and every holiday results in festive, beautiful decor around the place. There is a good amount and variety of food places, retail and utility stores for our little "village" here in East Oahu. The Costco is good, there's ample parking. I also love that our little Town Square is right here on the gorgeous marina and there are always events and fun things being held at the pavilion to entertain us. It's wonderful to grab a bite to eat on the water, and just watch the waves with Koko Head in the distance. We're pretty spoiled here in east Oahu, and this property is such a great, essential block of our little community for all our needs. read more

If Koko Marina is geared more towards tourists on their way too and from East Oahu, then Hawaii Kai Towne Center is the place where the Hawaii Kai locals get their shopping done. There's pretty much nothing touristy about this place, which is a good thing, if you ask me. The merchants here include Costco, City Mill, Game Stop, Ross, Burger King, Outback Steakhouse, Roy's and a Satellite City Hall among many other businesses. I find myself coming here mostly for Costco, but every once in a while I do enjoy wandering around to see what else there is here. There's also a park and ride, and a dog park conveniently located just across the street from here, so it's a natural place for Hawaii Kai residents to frequent. The only down side is that parking can be kind of tough on the Costco side of the lot sometimes due to the fact that well, there's a Costco there! But even when Costco is having a busy day there's still ample parking across the lot on the City Mill side, or even further down by the Outback Steakhouse. If you're in Hawaii Kai, and don't want to put up with the more tourist-centric Koko Marina, then give Hawaii Kai Towne Center a shot. The variety of shops are a little different, but I'm sure you'll find something you like! read more

Love this shopping center! Here every week for either a Costco trip, panda express, Ross', or Koa's. Especially love the special events they host for Halloween, Christmas, Chinese New Year! And the local musicians that perform on the stage. There is ample parking, and helloooooo, Yogurtland and Starbucks! Oh... and City Mill to DLS! This shopping center has something for everyone. One stop shopping of residents nearby. This shopping complex features a GNC, Payless Shoe Store, Ross and a bunch other retail shops. Food is one of the maain reasons I stop by Hawaii Kai Towne Center when in the area. Their main attraction is Costo- wholesale and food counter (no gas!). Maile Thai is also located here, check out their afternoon happy hour if you get a chance. Another hidden gem here is the Taco Del Mar- large portions for a reasonable price. I like Costco. Like Walmart, I can roam the aisles for hours and never be bored. I also like the fact it has a tire store here. I like the fact that there is a City Mill. I like the fact that there are numerous tables/chairs out on the marina to see all the boats, kayaks, and stand up paddle boarders passing by. I also like the fact that there is a Ross's so I can wander the aisles (although not as in depth as Costco and Walmart). I also like the fact that there is a-ok Ramen Shop (and if you're lucky to eat during their happy hours, free gyoza on the house). I love this shopping center, so convenient and so well kept! I used to come here all the time, sadly a move towards another area of town doesn't keep me coming back all too often. Mom and I were shopping there last week and I noticed that I didn't have my cell phone. Oh yes, it's one of them newer models so I was extremely angry at myself for misplacing it. I checked the restroom where I thought I had left it earlier, it wasn't there.....): Mom suggested that I continue to call it, keep in mind that Mom has one of them flip phone models which I hate. It wouldn't ring kept going to voice mail. I kept calling and a male voice answered, It was the security office, someone had turned in my phone! Further, he could bring it to me outside of Ross'. Before turning it over to me, security asked me a few questions about the phone which I gladly had the right answers! Kudo's to the person who found it, thanks to the restroom cleaner who honestly turned it over to the security office and a big mahalo to the security guard who brought it back to me! I have to admit that this is my first time here. And I have to say I really like this shopping center. The thing I like about it the most is that it is quiet and their are no obnoxious snotty nose teenage losers hanging around being a pain in the ass. I hate going to Pearlridge and seeing those damn teenager blocking the way playing with their kendama. At least here their is none of that, and I like it. I was looking around the place and I saw a Yogurtland. Too bad they are gone. I so wanted some yogurt. But in the bright side they have a Starbucks. I love their green tea frappuchino and I drink that every chance. I also noticed they have a Ramen-Ya over there too. If I hadn't eaten at Sanoya ramen earlier I would have eaten here. After that I went to GameStop. The place was very clean and organized. The place was also very empty. I wonder if people in Hawaii Kai even play video games. But the thing I like most is the view of the Marina. I mean talk about a million dollar view. It was a nice sunny day too. The clouds crept in for a bit and dropped some rain but the view was still beautiful. I feel kind of jealous that Waianae will never have anything that nice. Will avoid shopping here due to parking being too narrow. People here DO NOT know how to park and have scraped my car on 3 different occasions. One time left lots of paint scratches on 2 of my doors, one time someone parked so close to my car I had to go in from the pasenger side, and the most recent one blocked me in the parking stall. There are well painted lines, but the people who park here do not know how to park in the lines. read more

When you come to Hawaii Kai Towne Center you know it will be very clean. Mostly because of the hai maka maka hoales. But its a great place to shop for almost everything. The parking lot is also very good, most of the time. I also used to come here for yogurtland but since they just up and left me I don't come as often. Everyone mostly comes for Costco, so it's ALWAYS busy on that side of the center. Overall great place to come shop, you KNOW its always clean. People who shop here aren't really friendly though so BE CAREFUL! read more

Unlike my Keeber dog, I cannot just pee it out on the grass across the street at the dog park so I often come here to use the restroom or go to one of the shops here. We often come here on Sundays when we trek to the dog park and to do our shopping. My husband normally likes to hit up Costco followed by Yogurtland or Starbucks because he's exhausted from my crazy shopping at Costco that he's got to unwind somehow. He pulls out a lot of hair while I debate which item to get and if it's even worth it because how in the heck are we going to use 2 pounds of sour cream before it goes bad? Or how will we find uses for 2 dozen bagels for just two people, a baby, and a dog? I sit there debating for a long time and my husband is like uhhh, are you ready yet? Whoops! Anyway, we like coming here because it's not that busy that you're fighting people for a spot. It's a very clean area that you don't feel unsafe walking around at night for sure. If I lived closer, this place would be even more convenient! I love walking around and just browsing even though it only takes me 15 minutes if I don't bother stepping into the stores. Aja was our waitress, and she was awesome. She seemed sincerely happy to have my wife and I as customers. Our food brought fast, and she didn't forget to ask if I wanted another beer, which I did. The food was delicious: We had phad Thai with the green curry, and the chicken eggplant something another all proceeded by an appetizer of some sort. (my wife ordered the food, and I ordered the beer.) When we left I forgot my hat and one of the waitresses chased me down the sidewalk to give it to me. I love this place. read more

This review is about the Easter Egg Hunt this past Saturday, April 15, 2017. Horrendous. I guess I should start by saying this was a free event, so my expectations should have been low. But that being said... event organizers were 'hiding' the eggs at 4pm (AS kids were watching) for a 3pm-6pm event. 'Hiding' ended up being a whole lot of just flinging the eggs wherever.. There was a one-hour-or-more wait for every activity- I'm talking one hour or more to register for the egg hunt, then one hour or more for the face painting, or for a photo with the Easter bunny, or for the balloon twisting, or for the 'petting zoo.' Props to the vendors who were jamming throughout the whole event, I want to be clear that this event did not fail because of them. There were simply too many people, and too few face painters (only 3!) and balloon twisters (4), and pretty much no time do more than one activity. Then, the egg hunt consisted of maybe 200 eggs for about 250 kids, and no segregation according to age group, resulting in lots of kids who came away with nothing, which turned into lots of crying. Dear HI Kai Towne Center, please just leave Easter egg hunts to the pros. read more
