Hawaiian Hideaways cancelled our contract 9 days before we were scheduled to arrive. We then had to hire a lawyer to get our money back.

And her response to our bad review was exaggerated and untruthful. She obviously took it personal even though we said she was kind in our review. I do not recommend her or their Kihei rental house. It had nothing to do with the extra $100 cleaning fee, that's just hilarious. For the money we paid to stay here the house just wasn't worth it. Do yourself a favor and rent elsewhere if you want a good experience, clean house, and a stress free vacation and deposit refund. We also rented through another vacation rental company the week before renting Sherry's Kihei home right next door and had zero problems or complaints about them or from them. Infact I highly recommend them. Go check out Tropical Villa Vacations and ask for Yvonne. You will be much happier I promise!

She put my doubts to ease and kept in contact by email till I arrived to our rental property, on 08/05/2014. The property was beautiful and the pictures did not do it justice. The beach was 15 feet away, right in the back yard. When we go back, we will definitely be calling again. Thank you again, Sherry!

The house has two separate homes: one is located upstairs with 1 bedroom, bathroom and updated kitchen; downstairs is relatively the same but features a bigger bed and bigger bathroom with a tub. The house is surrounded by windows which allows for a little breeze. Unfortunately, when we were visiting Paia it was extremely humid and even the fans didn't help with air circulation. Pros: The kitchen and bathroom in the upstairs unit was completely updated and the downstairs the bathroom and bedroom had a updated feel. You were able to hear and see the ocean from the top stairs and cook or barbecue on your stay. The grounds were also beautiful. It was also within walking distance from downtown which made it really nice. Cons: The screen doors were very flimsy and hard to close (could be updated) The upstairs bedroom was very small and wasn't the most comfortable for two adults. Although the grounds are beautiful, the grass could of been mowed to cut down on the mesquites due to the heavy rain. They had the sprinklers running but made no sense due to all the rain (it made everything wet). Lastly, they had no can opener which I needed for something (not a huge deal) This is Maui so if you don't like lizards this place might not be something you are into. There are lizards that come out occasionally and roam around to greet you and say hi!

The house is clean, airy and well maintained (weekly housekeeper). It comfortably accommodated our family of three, with each person having access to their own en-suite bathroom, a saving grace for us! It has a fully equipped kitchen with appliances which I found especially useful for morning smoothies and cooking my own spicy dishes from time to time. The owner very generously invited us to help ourselves to fruit and veggies from her charming garden which we did! The grounds are beautifully landscaped and sprawling. The pool is one of the best we've experienced at a VRBO-expansive-all of us together in it did not feel crowded; it is also comfortably deep enough at almost 8 feet. We got to experience several days of poolside lounging-what would a beach vacation be without this?! The pool swimming also helped us practice getting our strokes down for swimming in the ocean. The owner always made herself available to address any concerns we might have had, very pleasant and friendly. We also felt we had privacy both within and outside, neighbor homes, although relatively close, are still not able to peer in or overhead, a very desirable feature for us. There is not enough I can say about this beautiful home, if anything, we look forward to going back!

The house itself was beautifully furnished and equipped, lovely Asian and local touches. Just right for 5 of us. We planned to stay with our friend, as we do sometimes when we visit Maui, but discovered the house would be full and that would mean sharing one bathroom with 7 people Yes Airbnb!!! I almost booked another place or two, but held out for some reason. I found this spot and wasted no time. The pictures showed how immaculate and well cared for this studio is, but doesn't show you how many amenities there are!! Entering the unit with keyless entry was a breeze. Everything is labeled (who wants to waste their vacation figuring out how the appliances work??) and we found everything we needed in the kitchen, a very clean bathroom with plenty of towels/beach towels and this unit has a vanity! I am one of those women who dread the typical poor hotel lighting and leaning over a huge sink to get close enough. My overnight stays in Maui range from a basic, old- yet charming attached guest quarters in kula to a beach view at Hotel Wailea. While the latter was a ritzy experience, I would rather stay here!! Just. yay. We will be back Tracy!

Absolutely awesome accommodations…read more Well first you have a lovely and very private space to call your own. Combine that with a very warm and friendly host (Sharon) and our stay could not have been better. The Rainbow Lookout met all our needs and had everything we needed in the kitchen, plenty of towels for bath and beach, beach chairs, ice chest, and extra scuba equipment. We could walk down the private road to catch the sunrise; we drank our coffee In the hottub and we swam in the very nice lagoon style pool every single day. When we return to Maui we will definitely come back. We loved the home and surrounding areas and enjoyed the natural setting as well. If you don't like nature and want to be pampered by hotel staff then don't come here. If you don't mind seeing a gecko scramble across the rocks, then you'll be ok here. If you want to see what it's like to actually live like a Maui denizen then this is the place for you. Sharon could not have been more responsive and accommodating. The fruit and bread and eggs and wine got us off to a great start! Thanks for everything! We had an absolute blast. Stayed: June 2018

Huelo is located on Maui's rugged north shore, 20 minutes east of the small town of Paia on the…read moreroad to Hana. Since you're 20 minutes' drive from the nearest town, this place is super-secluded, but offers all of the amenities you could imagine. The road down to the place is only partially paved (last time we were there in 2003, anyway,) and so you have a very slow, bumpy ride down. We first did it in some kind of crapmobile rental, and whenever we tried to take the road too quickly, residents along the way come out and give you the stink-eye. Not worth busting your axle anyway, so take it slow. Huelo Point Lookout is just about the last place, down the last driveway on the last road as you make your way off the Hana Highway and down toward the coast. Some of the cottages on the property offer ocean views (the main house, for example,) but for the most part the coast is hidden from view, so if you're looking for beach front, this is not for you. What we loved about Huelo is that it's much more of a rapidly changing environment than getting a cookie-cutter chain hotel place in Wailea, Kaanapali or in Kapalua. It's a more rugged and unexpected experience with lots of wind, quick, fleeting rainstorms and amazing tranquility and seclusion. No kids in the communal pool yelling all day, no one next door making noise. You literally feel like you're in the middle of nowhere. Both times we have stayed there, we opted for the Haleakala Cottage, which is basically a studio apartment (free standing, no immediate neighbors) with a full kitchen, patio, its own Jacuzzi and the best part: a FANtastic outdoor shower. The small office, with 2 sets of washers and dryers plus all the linens you could ever need (including fabulous, huge beach towels) is just around the corner from this cottage, and me being a laundry freak, I was in heaven (guests have free access to the laundry facilities anytime.) Owners Jeff and Sharyn Stone and their sweet son, Kai, have gone out of their way to provide their guests with privacy and seclusion, without being so absent that you don't feel well taken care of. The kitchen is stocked with plenty of fresh, whole-bean coffee, and you can also order special treats like additional flowers or chocolates for your arrival (my husband surprised me with this on our honeymoon.) In all, I think we've spent a total of almost 3 weeks here over our two trips to Hawaii, and I would stay there again in a snap. The only perceived drawback might be the distance from the place to the nearest sign of civilization, but keep in mind that Maui is only so big, so any place, including Hana or even Wailea on the southern west coast is only 40-60 minutes drive away. And when you're in one of the most beautiful places on Earth, on vacation, what do you have more of than leisure time? Recommendations: - Take your watches off when you arrive and put them away someplace. Go with the light and rise when you want, eat when you want, be active when you want and sleep when you want. - Bring some food in from one of the places in Paia to keep around -- fruit, milk, etc. - daily supplies that will keep you going since you're a good 20 minutes from the grocery store, and driving that road at night can be precarious. - I'm going to write a review of this as well, but the Paia Fish Market, right on the main corner of town is unbelievably good. I recommend the fish and chips with lots of vinegar and Tabasco. Ugh. I am drooling thinking about it. - Pack a picnic and head to Hana for the day. Take every opportunity to turn left as you head out and get to the coast for amazing, out-of-the-way waterfalls. Ignore signs for private property if you're particularly adventurous (which we were.)
