We grabbed a drink and hung out on deck, and it made the trip feel like part of the vacation. Cabins are basic but clean. Don't expect luxury, but it's comfortable enough for a night's rest. The boarding and check-in process was smooth, and the staff were friendly throughout. If you're traveling between Norway and Denmark, this is a scenic, relaxed alternative to flying. Bonus points for the Fjord views and the relaxed onboard vibe.

After approximately 9:00 it's once every half hour. For humans only (no car), the cost came out something in the ballpark of $15 USD for a round trip. This ferry is frequented by the trucking industry because well more than 6-7 loaded trucks can be swallowed in the storage compartment along with many passenger vehicles too. Going to Sweden requires an ID, coming back to Denmark did not require an ID for us. It's a quick 20 min ride...almost too quick. Why? Because the duty free shopping on board is nothing short of killer! Loads of low cost, reasonably high quality food gift items, and alcohol galore. This is an incredible way to get around the high alcohol taxes in Sweden. I heard of some Sweds getting on board in Helsignborg just to ride the ferry round trip and not disembark in Helsignor. This round trip back to Helsignborg allows these Sweds to purchase all kinds of crap, while on-board in the open water without ensuing massive taxes. We even had an admittingly ghetto "romantic" dinner cruise on the water while getting back to Denmark! I think we had hot dogs on paper plates on-board...Lol.

I took the train twice in…read morethe past three years, experienced said problems, and attempted to do so for the third time recently but it was cancelled. Luckily the bus had room and I was able to get a ticket. It takes you straight from the central station right up to the ferry terminal in Ystad and the ticket includes the price of the ferry. The seats were comfortable, you get a nice view during the drive, and there is plenty of room for your bags. The only downside is that there is no bathroom, but it shouldn't be a problem for such a short trip. If you book in advance, taking the train costs 149 dkk with an Orange-billet and the bus costs 160 dkk with a Tilbudsbillet.

If you are lucky, you can see big vessels crossing the bridge. But the Bridge is not cheap. An interesing anlternative is the Ferry between Helsingör and Helsingborg. It costs nearly the same and gives a good feeling of what it was to get to Sweden in the old times.

Board the boat and have a nice meal in the restaurant. Try some of the great local "Aquavit", like the Danish "Aalborg", the Swedish "Skåne" or the Norwegian "Linie". Traditionally, you should sing a song with each one, the locals will be happy to help if you invite them over. There is no need to disembark when the ferry reaches it's destination. Just remain seated and travel as many times forth and back as you want. Just remember to get off in the right country. The longer you have been on board, the harder it gets. A "tura" is once forth and back i.e. 2 trips, a "dubbeltura" is twice forth and back i.e. 4 trips and a 'trippeltura" is three times forth and back. Calculate approximately one hour for each tura. Note that you only need a one way ticket for each time you board the ship, so you can go as many times forth and back as you want on one ticket. A popular continuation of the evening is to get off the boat in Denmark and continue to one of many very cozy pubs and restaurants in Helsingør.

Last night the boat I got on, was a brand new one, where they changed the layout of it inside, which is a super nice way to use the space available on a boat. The trip is roughly an hour, so you can get a nice nap as well if you'd like. There is also free wifi on the entire trip, if you're wanting to Yelp in the middle of the sea.

For people going from the area around Aarhus, the second-most populous area in Denmark, to the Copenhagen area, the most populous area in Denmark, there are two options: drive across a large part of Jylland, all of Fyn, and most of Sjælland, or take one of these ferries. It takes about the same amount of time to drive or to sail and drive, but you save quite a bit of driving time, which is nice. The ferry service is quite convenient, with online and app ticket sales, check-in only 10 minutes prior to sailing, and often quite good discounts on tickets. The ferries themselves are modern and comfortable. Most of them have a cafeteria, which serves mostly junk food and not very impressive coffee, a restaurant with a decent, but overpriced, buffet, and a coffee shop from the Danish chain Baresso. Go for the latter if you want coffee and something light to eat. If you want a bigger meal go for the restaurant, or wait until you arrive at your destination. Don't bother with the cafeteria.

The cabin was extremely old & disgusting. The "twin bed" was a 50 yrs old sofa that we needed to call them to come & turn it into bed for us. The wi-fi on board did not work at all & when we went to reception & asked they said that it doesn't seem to work so we said could we get one voucher considering that we have 4 tickets & nobody can connect, but then they got angry saying that we haven't really paid for the wi-fi & 20 MB was supposed to be included in the ticket & now that it's not working they can't do much!! The process of getting the car on & off board was very smooth & quick but we were there 2 hrs before the departure.

It's a little chaotic purchasing riches because the boarding lines, the ticket lines, and the prepaid ticket people are all in the same area. Lines crisscrossing. It sends like it could be very easy door someone to cut in line, but they seem to think it works for them, so ok. The ride is about 45 minutes to an hour. It really helps having a lively guide because to be honest, there's not that much to see, at least not up close. But there are clever looking buildings, like the one that looks like Tobeleron. There are nearby floating bars and restaurants. And there's even a binge humbling place across the waterway. You get to see the little mermaid statue... but only from the backside!!!

We'd been on boat tours in other cities, and it's usually one of the best things we do. You see things not from the perspective of a motor vehicle on a highway, or a train moving down the track, but rather as people did hundreds of years ago when moving across the sea or through waterways. The seats were ok, not the most comfortable, but not bad. The narration in English was excellent. I could put up many photos and a few videos of tight under-bridge passages, beautiful buildings, interesting boats, and so on. I'll leave that task to others, and keep my review uncluttered. Boat rides are great fun, young or old, no matter the level of fitness. Avoid the heat of the day, maybe aim at the final cruise of the day, and I believe you'll enjoy it.
