I took the train twice in…read morethe past three years, experienced said problems, and attempted to do so for the third time recently but it was cancelled. Luckily the bus had room and I was able to get a ticket. It takes you straight from the central station right up to the ferry terminal in Ystad and the ticket includes the price of the ferry. The seats were comfortable, you get a nice view during the drive, and there is plenty of room for your bags. The only downside is that there is no bathroom, but it shouldn't be a problem for such a short trip. If you book in advance, taking the train costs 149 dkk with an Orange-billet and the bus costs 160 dkk with a Tilbudsbillet.

Wow. This ferry service is amazing. It runs every 15 min for pretty much all the waking hours of…read morethe day. After 7:30 pm it slows to 20 min between departures. After approximately 9:00 it's once every half hour. For humans only (no car), the cost came out something in the ballpark of $15 USD for a round trip. This ferry is frequented by the trucking industry because well more than 6-7 loaded trucks can be swallowed in the storage compartment along with many passenger vehicles too. Going to Sweden requires an ID, coming back to Denmark did not require an ID for us. It's a quick 20 min ride...almost too quick. Why? Because the duty free shopping on board is nothing short of killer! Loads of low cost, reasonably high quality food gift items, and alcohol galore. This is an incredible way to get around the high alcohol taxes in Sweden. I heard of some Sweds getting on board in Helsignborg just to ride the ferry round trip and not disembark in Helsignor. This round trip back to Helsignborg allows these Sweds to purchase all kinds of crap, while on-board in the open water without ensuing massive taxes. We even had an admittingly ghetto "romantic" dinner cruise on the water while getting back to Denmark! I think we had hot dogs on paper plates on-board...Lol.

Train stations in Europe are always really cool, and this one is no exception. They're super old…read morebuildings, that have been modernized inside, and are always just great - with stands for food, drinks, incidentals and whatnot. Schedules are easy to read and clearly marked. It's a joy to ride Euro trains.

Going to Kronborg Castle? We took the train from Copenhagen to get there. Helsingor Station is…read morethe stop you need, and it is the end of the line. The station building looks impressive. At least the front of the building is photogenic. Did not spend much time at Helsingor station. Took a few photos. Grabbed some snacks at the 7-Eleven store located inside. Did not even wait long on our return trip to Copenhagen after visiting Kronborg Castle. My impression is that this is a fine station located in a charming town.

Don't really have a choice to enter the fantastic country in the east as I live north of Copenhagen…read moreand taking the bridge is quite a hazzle for me. To make my trips over Øresund easier and quicker I bought a smart autobizz which is a device you place in your car's front window that register every time you go across the bridge or take the ferry so no need to stop for payments etc. This is absolutely the cheapest way to enter Swe/DK. For a few times now, I've ended up waiting in a looooong line with my car when going across, which I find weird, because when you buy the smart autobizz you get to "skip the line" (written in their agreement). When I called to ask if there was something wrong with my device cause I've been waiting in line for quite many times now, I got the answer" it says you can skip the line for the first available ferry". I answered, "but hey, I saw 2 ferries pass while I was waiting and I got on neither of those while many cars drove by my lane who came in line after me". I got the answer "Well, you see, with first available we mean the first available depending on how many cars there are waiting". Then I told her that first available ferry doesn't make sense if everybody still has to wait. Justa simple trick to get people to buy their device.. Thumbs down Scandlines, you must arrange a better agreement for frequent crossers.
