You may be skeptical of the whole staging thing and believe that it's not worth the money. After all, you think, buyers should be able to see through small imperfections, look past slightly dated furniture, and, you know, use their imagination to see the potential that is spread out before them. Well, they can't (and that includes me). I learned that even in this hot hot market, you still need to put your best foot forward. And Haven made that happen. Brad visited our condo (completing its first year on the market) and like a furniture whisperer, divined how the whole unit could be reimagined. I did exactly as he proposed and I had a contract in a week. So here are some thoughts on Haven: 1. Let them do their thing and get out of their way. You may not like a particular piece of art they hang, or the location they move the sofa to, but its all part of a grand design and just let it go. 2. Haven will try to make use of your existing furniture and art if it works with their overall aesthetic. This keeps the overall price down. They could have simply said "move it all out" but I think I they were able to reuse about half my stuff. 3. Brad should be a politician. Rather than saying "that chair looks like it came from your 1980's bachelor pad" , he will simply say "that chair is too specific". Sadly, I had lots of "specific" furniture and art. 4. And finally, as many of stated, they are easy to work with, do exactly what they say they will do, and do it exactly when they say they will do it. I'm a big fan. read more

I absolutely loved working with Cheri and Brad at Haven. When I first knew I would need a home stager I thought it would be an easy process: look up several companies, read their ratings, call three for bids and pick the best one. No. First, there don't appear to be too many places that do this and even fewer with any reviews at all, let alone good ones (and not just on Yelp but Angie's List too). Second, there are even fewer that are professionally run. Meaning you call and get voicemail and it takes days to get a call back, if you ever do. And the way some are structured they require you to buy a "plan" and then deduct that cost if you end up using them to stage your home. My house was pretty straightforward in terms of where the funiture goes so I didn't need a "plan." Cheri called me back promptly and was at my house very quickly. They are very flexible and accommodating and their prices are fair. They charge a one-time move-in fee, then just a monthly fee for the furniture rental, with no minimum. They ask for just a few day's notice to remove the furniture and when it was time to move it out I emailed Cheri on a Sunday and the stuff was gone on Thursday. They are also helpful in suggesting just the amount of staging you need; for instance I just did my first floor and that worked out really well. In addition, my realtor told me that the cost of staging was actually LESS than it would have been to have someone do it virtually and he said this was the best looking staging furniture he'd ever seen. read more

I had Haven stage a condo Fall 2017 in Streeterville to get it ready to sell. My realtor recommended the company. I was not there when the apartment was first staged. To say that I was disappointed with the result is an understatement. The furniture was worn and dirty. The couch had stains all over it and so did the chairs. The chairs were from Ikea. The dining table and chairs selected were too large for the space which made the room look too small...exactly the opposite effect you are trying to achieve as a professional stager! The bedding was also switched out because you could see the blow up air mattresses under the comforter. I also felt the artwork looked cheap and didn't really match the modern look I was going for. To Haven's credit, I worked with Cheri the owner and she did switch many items referenced above and she agreed that the furniture was not in good shape and didn't fit the space. I wish as the owner she would have reviewed this with her staff prior to staging my condo. The final product looked much better than the original. That being said, the hassle of scheduling multiple deliveries and switching things out , along with the cost/benefit of the actual staging was just not worth the cost in my opinion.I expected the furniture to be higher end/quality from a staging company. If you think your home may take more than a couple of months to sell and you have any eye at all for decorating , you can literally furnish in a similar way on your own for a fraction of the cost by doing Ikea and Wayfair .I gave an extra" 3rd star because Cheri did her best to make things right and she also gave me a " Winter " discount the final month which I appreciated. read more
