I'm not exactly sure what the day to day is like at Haus Murphy's but I can tell you this. I love this place I know it tends to be slow at times I think some servers are better than others and On a good day I could make a great kraut potato salad and schnitzel but I don't want to. I look forward to that Hot Brot and the guy playing accordion everytime and give him a few bucks for coming out every time. It's not perfect the parking sometimes is terrible but the beer is great and such a mood changer I can say this I will be a faithful patron until I cannot do it any longer. read more

A Glockenspiel was on the wall across for our table which caught all of our eyes. Stuck at a few minutes before 9, and the little birdie on his way out. Little details add charm to the place. I know the place has been here a long time I wonder if it ever worked. The bar area felt like I stepped in a German bar or my unclebee 's basement bar. Food Drink - Great selection of German beers on draft here, and not surprised by that. I had the Franziskaner Premium Weissbier Naturub, 16 ounces, I was driving so no 32 big mug for me. Appetizers - Had to order a pretzel, so tasty with the beer. Meal - I had to try something Guy had on his TV Show, the Paprika Schnitzel. The meal did not fail. The schnitzel was thin like you would expect but it was still tender and moist. They did not even give you a steak knife for it, the butter knife worked fine. The potatoes on the side were amazing and the purple cabbage. The plate was almost clean when I was done. I could have licked it clean but I behaved myself. Service - Sunday, perhaps a little busier because Father's Day, but at 3:40 we were asked if we had reservations. I would have never thought you would need one for that time of day. Visited Phoenix for the weekend. Came here because my wife likes to visit places that have been on DDD. When we arrived we were immediately seated. We sat outside since the weather was so great. They have plenty of seating inside and outside. I ordered the jalapeño cheddar bratwurst. It was delicious. Got it with French fries. The fries were great too. My wife got the meal Guy game here for. It's Oktoberfest time so seemed like the perfect time to sit outside under the waving flags in the alfresco eating area and hear the German music being piped in to add to the atmosphere. Unfortunately, the store across the street was blaring rap music from a large speaker that drowned out the festival music, but that's not Haus Murphy's fault so I won't drop them a star, but I hope the other store can be better neighbors in the future. There's a nice selection of imported draft beers, and Kendra the server knew details about each one, which was appreciated since the menu didn't give any interesting details--they should, esp. since some are done in traditional manner rich in history from as far back as the 1500s. I tried a Bavarian double bock: Ayinger's Celebrator which was smooth and reminded me of a dark amber. On the menu an intriguing item that I don't remember seeing before caught my attention: Paprika Schnitzel, and it was a wise choice as it was plate-licking good. The red cabbage and spaetzle were good too, although I wouldn't have objected if the spaetzle would've been finished in a little butter with a bit of browning. Let me qualify my review by saying I grew up thinking Der Wienerschnitzel was real German food. I have been to Germany and loved the bold flavors. That being said, Haus Murphy has it hands down with the meatloaf. The mashed potatoes were not warm and the green beans were cooked al dente, which I like. I tried the sauerbraten and not a fan. The meat was tough and dry. There was too much acidity to the sweet r I would suggest if you are not familiar with German cuisine , the meatloaf is a great choice. Although our server did offer chicken Parm! Great staff and love the outdoor seating. I'd love to try the beer with the huge foam next time! read more

My three positives and a negative because the world needs more positivity: + my MIL is from Austria and hubby wanted to treat her to some German cuisine. This was a great option- close by and with a varied menu + We started with the pretzel and cheese sauce. It's huge and served also with spicy mustard. Highly recommend. Our very nice server, Scottie, provided solid recommendations. I had the schnitzel sampler. I'm not familiar with German food and found this to be a fun way to try the different proteins and sauces. The green beans, far from vegetarian, were a stand out. Hubby was able to order from the vegetarian menu. He stuck with the Beyond Sausage, potatoes and red cabbage, (Side note: the red cabbage tasted like solid applesauce. Bonus yum). MIL had the (limited run) eisbein which she gave two thumbs up. No German meal is complete with beer (draft octoberfest for hubby) and dessert. We opted for the Black Forest cake + On Fridays and Saturdays there is an accordion player starting around 5pm. Authentic German spot that was featured on Triple D in Glendale. Came here as it was close to the Tanger Outlets for a late lunch, and were seated immediately. Indoor/outdoor seating available. Credit cards accepted. Dog friendly patio. Bathrooms available inside along the hallway. There are vegetarian-friendly options. Free street parking available. The owner was super nice and welcoming. Food-wise, everything was top-notch. The portions were huge and the beer pours were similarly gigantic. They do have other alcohol options including wine and schnapps. The currywurst fries came separate from the ketchup/sausages, so they stayed crispy. The Hungarian sausage plate was my favorite - the sausages were thinner than the typical standard bratwurst, and came with potatoes and sauerkraut on the side. The schnitzel plate had three different schnitzels with three different sauces (the white sauce was my favorite). The bauernplatte platter is meant for 2 people to share, but 3 people could comfortably share it. My sister wanted me to note that the pork chop from this plate was the most tender pork she's ever had, and that she absolutely adored the side potatoes. The mustard that came on the side was hearty and had a slight bite. Tia is horrible. Bad attitude....apparently the service was so slow because as Tia reports " there is no bartender". So that was her excuse for not bringing me my beer but ironically everyone else was getting their beers , slowly, but at least they got beers. Once we reminded her and she let us know that they did not have a bartender, she brought me wrong size. I'm pretty sure she just forgot. Admission of forgetting would have went a long way . Food was ok ...2 hours is a bit much .....especially when you are waiting for a beer. It's been a while since our last visit and my parents had never been so we decided to stop in for an early dinner. It's a good thing we were early because the place really started to get busy the closer it got to dinner time. I would recommend making reservations if you are planning to go during prime hours. The food was good as it had been in the past. The service was good as well. My only complaint was the cleanliness of the restaurant. Never have I been to a German restaurant. We stumbled onto this place because our favorite Italian place was closed - we were very pleased. Sunday at 5pm is when we arrived and it was packed. My husband is German and fell in love with the authenticity of the place. Lots of interaction with all of the staff. We ordered the sauerkraut puffs and as much as I do not eat anything fried... these were amazing! So incredibly tasty and whatever was in the sour cream was amazing! I've been to many German style foods in the valley and this has to be the best place to get sauerkraut, brats, and damn good potatoes! Came to try German good for the first time today! Haus Murphy's services was good. Very friendly, attentive and they knew how to speak and talk about the dishes well which was nice. They had mango bottomless mimosas and let's just say I would come back to this place for their mango mimosas! They were awesome. We tried an appetizer I remember it by "break bread with your friends" it was pretty good! Then we had other dishes which were very tasty too. (Sorry can't remember names lol those mimosas ) I have pictures though so you can see. They had a chocolate cake named chocolate sauerkraut which was very creamy and nice tasty too. This is the best comfort food. The food feels homemade but there is no way you can pull off anything as good in your own kitchen. I got the Pretzel which goes amazing with their mustard that the bring to the table. Honestly could have done without the cheese but it wasn't bad. I also went with the schnitzel sampler platter because we wanted to try them all. I was surprised that my favorite was the chicken with the white wine sauce. All of them were little breaded pieces of heaven. I do also want to mention that the paprika sauce was the bomb. Please get the beers! The franzenskanner was what really made this meal. We had been anticipating a good German dinner for over a week, and boy, can I say how disappointed we were. We ordered the Baurenplatte for two because we wanted to try multiple items off the menu. The pork was over smoked and extremely dry. The schnitzel was super thin and you could not taste the meat for all the breading. The meatloaf was hideous and made from poor quality beef. The brat and sausage was meh at best; although the spicey mustard had a nice kick. The red cabbage had too much clove. The only two items that were worth eating were the sauerkraut and German potato salad. We definitely would not recommend this place for anything other than a cold German beer and music read more

We ordered the 10oz giant Bavarian pretzel with cheese ($11), Kasespatzle ($11) with 1 beef sausage called a Kilometer ($6.50) and the Sauerkraut Chocolate Torte ($7) for dessert with coffee ($2.50). The pretzel was not as soft as I had hoped. But the Kasespatzle with the Kilometer was amazing! The Kasespatzle tasted like gnocchi with a ton of cheese on top with grilled onions, absolutely delectable - a must try! And the Kilometer sausage was very savory and delicious, it paired so well with the Kasespatzle! I will get this again! The Sauerkraut Chocolate Torte does not taste like sauerkraut at all, instead it just tastes like a regular chocolate cake, just slightly lighter. I love that the place is decorated with a ton of German items and that they sing to you in German when it's your birthday! Service was also great! Let me start with the good things. I didn't get pictures of it but we ordered the sampler platter with the meatloaf, sauerkraut, schnitzel, potato salad, 2 types of sausage and we got spatzle too. The food was excellent and it was the BEST meatloaf we've ever eaten! My husband got some type of German beer and it was delicious as well. The spatzle was a disappointment though. It was lacking flavor. Our waitress was super awesome considering they seemed short staffed. Our son enjoyed his cheese pizza and said it was the best-unfortunately he says that about a lot of pizzas. Now for the cons. It was slow. We were waiting for a bit to be seated, then waiting to get our drinks ordered and our appetizer, giant pretzel with Haus beer cheese. Then waiting to get our drinks. We waited a total of 45 minutes for our appetizer. We saw people who came after us getting their appetizers. The kitchen sent out our appetizer to the wrong table. Mistakes happen, they seemed short staffed but it was a lot of waiting. Otherwise, it was a good dinner. There's lots of interesting Knick knacks on the walls and pictures. It's a good meal but if you have somewhere to be, maybe find another spot to try. read more

We have been going to Haus Murphy's every year since 1998 for our Christmas. The food has already been excellent. We could not rate the service it was that bad. We had reservations for 6:30 but was not seated until 7:30. We was seated with no menus. 2 tables was seated after us they got their food before we were even waited on. When appetizers was served but no silverware. Had to ask twice for silverware. Not once was we ask if we wanted refills on our drinks. We had 3 disabled individuals at our table. The waiter ran over to take our order and ask one of the disable individual what they would like. When she said give her a minute. Rather then taking the others order like we suggested. He said I will come back when everyone is ready to order. So he didn't come back for another 20 minutes. This will be our last dinner at Haus Murphys. The service killed the evening. read more

Good place for some good meeeaatz! I came to this place with my friends for a few good many times and decided now is the time to write a review. The location was always clean and well kept. They have plenty of seating and is well decorated. The staff is always helpful and friendly. Service is quite decent, not the fastest in the world, but not too slow. Minus one night they did take longer than usual, but I assume it's just a bad night for them. But overall it's usually good. I've tried many of their items. From their pork sausages, stuff mushrooms, giant pretzel, to their soup. Everything was always good. My friends never complain about their food as well, and one of them just loves their vegan sausage. There food is overall very decent! Now time for the serious business. The important stuff. The loo. The loo can tell you maybe things about their kitchen, for cleanliness it's usually the same. Most of the time, the loo was well kept and plenty stocked. However two times it was quite a disaster! And one time there wasn't any toilet paper!! But I assume they were probably just about to go in there and fix things up. Probably timing. The loo itself was decent, the power is equal of a modern common house toilet, the soap was quite decent too. It was very well decorated. Great experience tonight. Both items pictured below were delicious. Last time I was here, I had the schnitzel sampler and a slice of their Black Forest cake. Scrumptious! Wanted to pivot this go-round and wasn't disappointed. The roulade was tender and flavorful. The cabbage was a bit sweeter than what I'm accustomed to for German cuisine, but no complaints from me. Lastly, the fried potatoes with onion and bacon normally doesn't accompany the entree, but they were still preparing the spätzle. Loved it! As weird as it may sound, the sauerkraut torte was the perfect end to my meal - rich chocolate flavor...very decadent. Finally, the hefeweizen on tap was crisp and fruity. A perfect accompaniment.
