He had his heart set on a Wooldridge, apparently all the fishing guides have this kind of boat and it is the best. Whatever, I thought. A boat is a boat. I was wrong. Wooldridge is a family company in its third generation of ownership that hand crafts each aluminum boat in south Seattle. We walked around in their shop and saw that they only make about 6 boats at a time. This is no Mexican assembly line, it's local craftspeople. They've been in business for a long time, and they really are the best. The welds on our boat are a thing of beauty, mostly because they look strong as hell. They did ALL the work in-house, including outfitting our boat with its accessories and installing the ones we bought elsewhere (got a deal on the downriggers). When you buy a Wooldridge, you become part of their family. People with these boats talk to fellow owners as if they've known each other for years instead of just met them at the boat launch.

Never heard back until I wrote a YELP review a year later. Fortunately they are conscientious about "customer recovery" Wooldridge has since sent me the necessary details I was looking for. Thanks for the follow up.

I've had good experiences with these guys…read more They fixed the carb on my old Honda B100 and they had parts for that old motor that I couldn't even find online. They did annual service on my Honda 75 4-stoike and it runs pretty sweet now. I've had it serviced elsewhere for years and it never ran this well. Service is pretty quick as far as I can tell. Mony is a nice guy and will try to help with advice. I've had the mechanics do the same, unprompted. If you're moored at South Park they'll come to your slip to check out your issue. Pretty good deal. And to that reviewer on here who gave them one star because he forgot to put his own drain plug back in before going out on the water? Dude that's your fault... Don't blame the business for that.

Likely due to water damage caused by repair shop carelessness. 8/15 update Boat top speed was going lower, and alarm was starting to go off when going above 20. Took it in to Rick's. They said it was overheating but couldn't figure out the problem and kept changing things, water pump, electric fuse, wiring, and even the temperature gage which turned out to be fine. The alarm stopped, but the new temp gage which doesn't mast he my other gages, shows even higher temp close to 200. They forgot to put the plug back in and sent me on the water and the boat started sinking. I am lucky the engine didn't get damaged. I paid $7000 for this boat. It took them 4 weeks and cost me $2500 to have them fix the alarm. They kept saying they'd call me when things are done but never did. I had to call everyday to check on progress and they kept pushing it, blaming the tide, the parts, and so on. Still not sure what caused the alarm and what stopped it. They almost cost me the whole engine, and since they have you sign disclaimers they would take zero responsibility. Go somewhere else. Most places charge almost half the price for labor, are faster, and are probably less careless.

Ruined the engine and although the Cobalt was in great shape the cost to repair or replace the engine exceeded the value of the boat. Initially Sunstream did repairs under their warranty, then I had to pay for multiple repairs but when I called for service after the sinking (I hadn't told them about the lift sinking the boat) they told me they don't sell or service those lifts anymore. Lifts should last at least ten years, got five out of this one before disaster struck. Manager wouldn't help with a discount on a new lift (not that I would have trusted them with further business) All I got from them was "I dunno man- I don't know what to tell you" over and over. There's another boat where I moor experiencing the exact same thing right now- port stern is almost sunk as that section of the lift filled with water (prompting me to finally write a review to warn people about these crooks). Their advertisements say the lifts are self leveling. Sometimes they are, but when they aren't your boat may sink. Be warned...
