Super tasty quality food, I noticed that on the menu it even tells you which farm the meat came from, or where the ice cream was made etc. The Greek Lamb and the Gammon are both brilliant. The portions are huge and I'm always left with enough food for another meal but save room for the Holly Bush sundae because you wont ever have a such a selection of tasty locally made ice cream :) The prices are great too, last time I went it was around 30quid for the 2 of us.

However, it has a huge beer garden which is set aside for dining, which means, unlike many of the other pubs in England, that you can't actually smoke there. We have been in on a weekday and the place runs smoothly and the food nice. I'd pop in for pub grub on a weekday mainly because of the location but never in my life would I go on a weekend again. To drink I settled on a strawberry lemonade to rehydrate. The calories on the menu did dishearten me my trio was apparently near the 2k mark but when I mentally dissected it I could not equate to that number..yes I find it triggering so made sure I ate only half of it lol The portion was generous, massive Yorkshire, pork cracking, beef, pork belly and chicken, With a roasted whole carrot, parsnip, broccoli and potatoes. We did ask for more gravy as advertised! Everything was cooked beautifully and the service was genuine. Overall apart from the menus which I still think they should offer people different versions of aka one with calories and one without I really enjoyed my experience here and would come back!

The people are friendly, courteous and conversational. I have yet to try the food but from what I hear, its been highly rated. Its a great place to unwind after a hard day and the sheer peace and quiet of the rural area is welcome. Walking into the Holly Bush is like going back in time to a time when pubs had character. And character is a trait that this pub has in heaps. Enjoyable!

The pub dates back years, and has a long history connected with the canals (it's situated on top of the Preston Brook canal tunnel) Me hopes the folk who are currently in charge remain there, they certainly know how to run a good place. I am sure the rest of the food is lovely, it looks good from what i see as they serve people near me, the chips just werent for me, also no skimmed milk on my last visit, just whole milk so had to have a cup of tea rather than a latte. being picky really.. it really is a nice place :-)

It's easy to find, as St Elphin's 280ft spire - the third highest of any parish church in England - provides a perfect landmark. The pub is part of an attractive clutch of old buildings next to the church, and is Grade II Listed, although unfortunately there's a large Sainsbury's plonked opposite. Inside, it feels more like a country pub than a town pub: lots of tucked away seating areas (ideal for family or social groups) give it a cosy feel, with some old beams on the ceiling providing the right atmosphere. Real ale fans are well catered for with two regulars and three guest ales, although one of the latter was off on our visit. The food menu is extensive and features traditional pub grub, with main meals, baguettes, sandwiches and baked potatoes. There's a good vegetarian selection, too, and staff were friendly and helpful. The 10 minute walk to the pub from Warrington Town Centre passes several other old pubs, also serving real ale, on Buttermarket Street and Church Street, which would make for a perfect real ale pub crawl, ending at the Ring O'Bells. There's a bus stop a few yards away to get you back to the bus station, if needed!
