Genuinely, a small section of 2012/2013 shoreditch has been plucked from London and crammed underneath a moor street railway arch complete with "I swear those aren't real glasses" and faux fairisle knits. (The loud noise overhead is a train, not a reason to poop yourself like a quarter of the patrons!) I plumped for the truffle hunter, (because I'm uppity with food, ha) and a soda folk cream soda, he plumped for a Steph Weiss beer (I see why we're here now...) the bacon cheese and we shared the o.b.d fries. The came quickly, wrapped in An important note: do not come here with a date you are trying to impress if you're a concerned messy eater, they jam pack their burger with sauce and hot oozing cheese, which will end up all over your hands and possibly your chin, along with lipstick if you're wearing it. My burger was perfectly cooked and super tasty, great combination of flavours, and possibly the best cream soda I've had that didn't actually have ice cream in it. My companion said it was exactly what he'd needed, and what he'd been after when we last went out for burgers. The staff were also wonderful, as was the playlist. I would def8nitely go back.

Sunday was the launch of XP at the Mockingbird Theatre. This is a geek themed event held once a night and is a bit of a mecca for all things board game, computer game, quiz and film orientated. Naturally we had to go. I am currently on a bootcamp scheme (see http://www.yelp.co.uk/biz/fit-body-bootcamp-birmingham for info), meaning I am on a strict diet of proteins, fats and No carbs. After consuming a smoothie for my breakfast and a salad for my lunch, I was starving hungry by 5pm. Everyone seemed to be either ordering pizza (a major no-no for me) or heading to Subway for their tea. I thought neither of these would be an option before a helpful person mentioned that Subway did salad bowls, problem solved... Or so I thought. Despite having all of the components of salad, Subway in Digbeth DON'T do salad bowls (and their staff are pretty unhelpful too). In a major grump, I left the store to see what else was on offer on the street. Right next door I came across Mother Clucker. Firstly, they scored a point for having a name that made me snigger, secondly... They couldn't have been more helpful if they tried. After a quick peruse of the menu I opted for lemon and herb chicken (which is served without skin). I asked if I could have some salad with this, after looking at me strangely for a minute - the guy said "Sure, we can do that. It'll be no extra charge". Winner. The chicken was cooked fresh for me as I waited and I requested some lettuce, onion and chillies (all I could have). I was even warned that the salad might be a bit rubbish as it's predominently meant for burgers, but I thought it was sweet that they warned me. My diet friendly feast was a budget busting £3.50. The guys that did end up going to Subway ended up pretty jealous of my dinner after all. This new kid on the block is sparkling clean, very friendly and super helpful. Will I be back? You can bet your bottom dollar I will.

This past Sunday, I ordered the Sherbet Lemonade. At 2 quid something a glass, this beverage is spectacular and definitely worth the price tag. Think of it as dessert or nice virgin cocktail. The playful presentation and summery sweetness make it hard not to gulp the whole glass before the meal arrives. I really dig the decor in this place. It feels somewhat like a vintage 70s art lounge, with groovy wallpaper and large framed paintings covering the full length of the main wall. There is ample seating and comfortable chairs. This is known to get relatively busy on the weekends, so be warned. Overall, the drink prices are what you would expect of a pub in this area, with the food being fairly reasonably priced as well, offering 2 for 1 on all mains. Definitely worth a visit, if not of an evening, then perhaps in the day for a spot to eat and a seat in the fantastic beer garden.

They can accommodate large parties fairly easily. Personally, I remember my burger being kind of dry and not tasting super spectacular.
