A very cozy pub with wonderful service. The food was the best we've had in the UK so far. Everything was delicious!

They have a wonderful garden area, a pub downstairs and restaurant, bed and breakfast w lovely clean rooms and modern plumbing. We were warmly welcomed by Linda and offered a history of the place at dinner- from the 1600s! Food was delicious and drinks were strong. The pub was bustling and people arrived during our dinner service. Lovely.

Me and…read morethe other half came here twice in one weekend because the food was just so god damn tasty! It's a gorgeous little pub in a gorgeous little town in Oxfordshire and we'd had it recommended to us by friends but noticed online it had also won lots of awards for its amazing grub. Well, we were sold! On the first evening they were packed due to lots of large Christmas parties in the dining room out the back so we perched on a little table in the warm and cosy pub area by the bar. I had the scallops and black pudding starter with apple compote which was beyond words delicious (but I will try anyway) - the scallops were melt-in-your-mouth and the black pudding cooked to perfection (which is a feat in itself as it's so easily overcooked leaving it dry!) For the main I had steak with blue cheese and garlic butter (there goes the diet!), a lovely salad and chips which I could have done without - I think maybe potatoes would have been better. My fella had steak and Hooky pie with peas and chips which was also pretty damn good. On our second visit I had a smoked salmon and anchovy starter which was so fresh, and pork belly main with mashed potatoes and veg. The fella had wood pigeon and guinea fowl - again all the food was superb! The service is very friendly and efficient, the prices extremely reasonable for the fantastic meals they're serving (ooh, did I mention the complimentary warm bread rolls and butter?) and a lovely setting which perfectly complemented our country weekend away! LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!
