    The menu!

This is a great local pub/restaurant for me to attend when I want to stay local. I love the fact that there is loads of space and a massive car park. The menu has a number has a good variety of the typical pub food such as burgers, pizzas and pasta. My favourite is the new your burger with skin on fries. The food is served very quickly and is top notch! This is Bearwoods own little gem!

Looking for some American diner style breakfast/brunch spot, Seth S. and I decided to check out…read moreCelebz since another brunch place was closed. The Celebz concept is based on a kitschy stereotype of Americana with quintessential foods like burgers, waffles, fries and milkshakes. I love a good bit of kitsch but Celebz seemed to hit all the wrong notes. The blaring music, loud colors, and cold interior left me feeling like I was on Sunset Strip after a late-night bender in search of greasy garbage to cure my hangover. The vibe, encouraged by Rhianna screaming "bitch better have my money," was starkly contrasted by a grouping of families with small children. Womp womp. When placing our order we learned that the milkshake deal (+£2) advertised with the burgers only applies to the burger meal, requiring you to spend £9 for a sandwich and milkshake, with or without fries. Seth S. got the burger but skipped the milkshake and I decided to get some pancakes and twisty fries instead. Seth's burger and my fries were delivered to the table fairly quickly, but we were almost finished eating before my pancakes arrived. I was disappointed that the pancakes were crepes not American style pancakes in an American themed restaurant, but that's neither here nor there. The twisty fries were perfect - just like some of my favorite from a greasy spoon in NC. The crepe presentation was nice but the flavor underwhelming. Too much egg was used in the batter, and the egg flavor overshadowed the Belgian chocolate drizzle and strawberry filling. If you're in search of an authentic Vegas hangover cure, this is the place for you!

Located over by Aston uni campus this place is a bit out of the way but when looking for a late night sweet myself and a friend took a wonder over here to see what it was all about. Now I know this place will not be for everyone, it's loud and in your face in terms of design with pictures of the USA and celebrities on the walls. The menu is made up of a range of popular American classics like burgers, milkshakes, pancakes, cookie dough and ice cream. We decided to go for nachos and a cookie dough dessert to share which were both surprisingly good. The nachos had the guacamole and salsa on the side instead of being all over top which is great for a condiment lover like me! The thing that I love about this place is you can easily sit a chill for a few hours eating and drinking on a quiet weekend night off the booze (dry Jan seemed like a good idea at the time) if you are looking for a place to get something sweet with a good range of options this is a great option in the city centre.

This is a breakfast review:…read more Its a well done out American diner, with suitably attired staff and cooks. I took my seat and ordered my Full English, (no extras). It came with a couple of sausages, (chipolata - so very small), a cored tomato, (nice touch), a hash brown, flat mushroom, toast and bacon that I imagine must have been shaved from the thickness of it. The eggs were solid, so I got them changed to runny ones. Its really weird seeing all the deliveries coming in to the place through the restaurant - I found it weird, anyway? The server was lovely, (Twinkle was on her name badge). I found the soundtrack though very original sounding, also quite annoying. If you go here and are buying into the American theme, I imaging that you would love it. I was there just for the breakfast - it wasn't bad, (called The Full Ed's).

She said I could save up all the points to pay for whole bill on future visit. I had chilli hotdog which was good but not hot in temperature but dunno if it was because we were photoing the food ha ha my friend said her burger was hot. They do sell the burger or hotdog solo, on its own or as ed's plate which means u get fries coleslaw and onion rings. We did both so we shared the chips etc. So our bill was about £13! Now, I was meeting Ben for lunch at Veg Out (see http://www.yelp.co.uk/biz/veg-out-cafe-birmingham?hrid=GgI2cmA6RaEsO8pLKdk1Aw), I didn't actually eat here - I just grabbed a coffee to visit and soak up the ambiance (being your intrepid Yelp Community Manager). Al's Diner is just off the main stretch of Kings Heath and opposite York Road. It's easy to spot, with it's American vibe and bright red exterior. As you might guess from the name, it's got a bit of a "happy days" vibe to it. From the red and white patterned work surfaces to old school Americana prints and design touches, it's all very sweet. As I say, I just popped in for a hot drink - but I will definitely pop back in for a burger at some point! The burgers looked huge and were priced around £2.50 (without fries) making it a bargain! They also had a great selection of sweet treats on the menu at similarly reasonable prices. My coffee wasn't the best (it was served with UHT milk), but that's not why you would visit normally. I grabbed a coffee and a can of cola and I believe it came to around £2.20 - which is a bit of a steal really. I was served with a smile and felt welcome throughout my whole visit (despite taking up a whole booth just to drink my coffee and do some work). I probably wouldn't travel all the way to Kings Heath to visit, but I urge you to pop in if you are based around here. If I was down here for the day, I would 100% make a date with one of their calorific treats for lunch or dinner.

It doesn't take much imagination to offer something original in the ways of fast food. Al's Diner have spotted a niche in the market and jumped right in. They serve burgers, hot dogs, milkshakes and deserts in such authentic US surroundings, (NYC print wall paper, state-side memorabilia authentic shake-bar stools) that you half expect Arthur Fonzarelli to enter stage right with a 'Hey!' and start asking 'bout Richey. This place is very popular with tweens, who have claimed it as their own space to meet, hang out and gaze out of the window while supping a shake. Others like to drop in for a pre-pub snack before hitting the High Street. Families are catered for too, and on a Friday evening they take time out from busy schedules for some quality informal dining time together. Those who believe that 'It's Dork To Eat Pork' can join in as the hot-dogs here are made with beef. In fact, the whole menu is Halal. Service with a smile comes as standard, and they'll tweak meals to suit you. There's a level of community and philanthropy going on here which is hard to beat. If you haven't got an Uncle Sam then you can find a surrogate family member in Al.

I have stopped by…read morethe Euston branch for refillable coffee before a train, but never been tempted to try this popular retro-esque chain (despite having one in Selfridges for years). I spotted Dan M's review of this new branch in the Barclaycard (formally NIA) arena and dropped him a message about it... He wisely advised me that if you sign up to the mailing list, you get a voucher for a free regular hotdog or burger - so off I popped to the website to sign up and have a look. First week back at work and I needed lunch on a Monday. Just as I was debating my options, I received a handy email from Ed's to remind me that I needed to use my voucher before the end of the week. What a shame... I just HAD to pop in and grab some food. The location will be quite nice when the whole thing is finished, but a lot of the building is currently obscured by scaffolding (which is a bit of a shame). Still, the exterior boasts the characteristic neon sign you would expect from an Ed's Diner and it's easy to find (just over the canal bridge from the Sealife Centre). I was welcomed in and found a table straight away. On a Monday lunchtime there were a few families, but not masses of people (I imagine this venue would get very busy if there was a show on at the arena and they don't accept pre-bookings). I had a quick peruse of the menu and ordered a bottomless coffee and a chicken burger. My food arrived within about 10 minutes and I was checked on throughout my meal to see if I wanted a refill or needed anything. Service was polite, swift and efficient during my experience at Ed's. It's worth noting that you have to order fries separately to the burgers or get an "Ed's plate" which includes sides. I also liked the jukeboxes on the tables which charged 20p for a song, but it all goes to charity.... I would definitely pop into Ed's again for a lunch with friends or the other half. It's by no means a posh dining experience, but my food was fresh and tasty. Why not sign up to the mailing list and give it a go?

I immediately liked the vibe of the place, and the quirkiness of the decor, in particular, the old red telephone box that houses an array of bottles. Whilst I have eaten there a couple of times last year (prior to my yelp days), brunch on one occasion and dinner on another, I've never been wowed by the food, even though I've always enjoyed it. Last night, however, was a different matter altogether. I was wowed! I went along with a friend and had the pleasure of a free meal and a bottle of wine, courtesy of the Yelp Snaps Local competition. I was pleasantly surprised by the latest menu, which offered some intriguing dishes, and certainly not just bog standard fare. Finding myself torn between 3 options; Venison & Cherry Stout Pie, Slow-cooked Oxtail & Root Vegetable Stew or Spiced Root Vegetable & Coconut Curry, I took a while to decide. In the end, the promise of honey roast parsnips and pancetta mash, which were the sides for the Venison & Cherry Stout Pie, won the day! We had to wait quite a while for our meals, whilst others who had come in after us and ordered the 2-4-1 burger offer that is available on Wednesday nights, seemed to get served really quickly, however it was worth waiting for...and it's not often I can say that and mean it! The presentation was fabulous, and far more interesting than on previous occasions. Rather than just receiving a dish of food, we each received a wooden platter of dishes, so it looked delightful and to be honest, it's a minor miracle that I remembered to take photographs, so eager was I to get stuck in! My friend had the steak, which looked very tasty (and apparently was) and I hungrily tucked into my Venison & Cherry Stout Pie. What a treat! It really was delicious, packed full of tender Venison, with more than the occasional juicy cherry making an appearance and thus remaining true to its word! The taste was amazing, and the accompaniments worked perfectly. The only tip I would give for the RVT is to wear layers, as it did feel rather cool in there, and if you want to order dessert, do it before 9pm as we missed out by chatting and not realizing the time. Having said that, the meal was actually really filling, so we didn't NEED dessert, we just fancied trying it out as there were some interesting options! So, the verdict - great food, good and friendly service, a nice choice of Mocktails if you're driving (or just a non-drinker), good coffee and a varied and interesting menu. I would definitely go again, as I'm actually quite keen to try the Oxtail option, and if possible, make it all the way to dessert.
