Honestly, my career is very stressful. Hashtag Cafe is on the way to work and I have lived in the Sarasota area for quite some time and has always been interested to go. I am so happy I finally did! Before the chaos of work, I like to wake up early to come here in the mornings to find a bit of peace. A welcoming environment, friendly and genuine staff, and delicious food. Unassuming yes beautiful coffee shop on the corner of bee ridge and swift. Inside is a large space with entrances from both sides of the shop. Server (I think owner as well) was very nice and showed us around. Large selection of coffee and loose leaf tea. I had a double espresso and my wife had an iced latte. Espresso was good but for $6.. it's a little steep (pun intended). We go to the gym on the plaza so likely will be back. Pro tip - there's a yarn shop inside! read more

Awesome coffee and a great barista! I was visiting Sarasota and looking for a good coffee shop and was lucky enough to find #Café. The barista (I think his name was Elias) was charming, he actually cared about the quality of the coffee he was serving, he took the time to talk to me a little about it, he had me taste the coffee before I paid for it, and he just made the whole experience so much better. And I'm somebody who doesn't like to talk to servers. I even went back the next day for more of Elias and his coffee. Thank you! read more

First off, this place needs a menu on the wall behind the register. It's currently hidden on the countertop so if there is a line or customers in front of you, you can't get a head start on picking what you want. Next is the rude owner-he came off as condescending and just annoying. Not a good first impression. Lastly, there was the coffee. Got a caramel iced coffee. It was bland, watery and the caramel syrup was lacking and not great. Needless to say, won't be back. read more

Very nice ambiance, decent desserts, lots of space....but a manager who is one of the nastiest human beings I have ever met and knows NOTHING about customer service. Passive aggressive, forced me to wait TEN MINUTES to heat up a simple croissant. She was not busy. I stood there waiting for it after I had paid and she said nothing, just kept making drinks for other people. I assumed at that point that I should sit down and she'll call me when it's ready. She never said she'd bring it to me (like she had been doing with everyone else).. Finally, I went up to ask if she'd forgotten my croissant (after seeing her make THREE DRINKS while my croissant is just sitting in the microwave) and before I could say another thing she stuck her finger in my face and said in a super bitchy tone "BE POLITE." She claimed I had been bitchy to her before (it's possible). She told me to be polite, that she's the manager and she will throw me out of there! WOW! No apology, she did this INTENTIONALLY. Just a vicious human being who should not be dealing with the public. I meet a large group of women there once a week and I'm working on getting them to change venues. I will never give them another penny. Pathetic. read more

Poor service. I witnessed the owner giving a customer a free coffee and asking them to leave a positive review. Since there's little to no competition nearby, it seems they don't feel the need to put in much effort. Went to Sarasota last weekend--hit the beach early, got sandy, got sweaty, needed coffee desperately. I Googled, saw Hashtag Coffee, and my caffeine prayers were answered. The owner (super chill guy from Morocco ) was incredibly welcoming. Not only did he make me one of the best cappuccinos ever, he also doubled as a Sarasota tour guide. He recommended Siesta Beach, Sarasota Marina jack and the best Islamic Society of Sarasota Bradenton for the Friday prayer --and yes, I went to all of them. 10/10 advice. The pastries at this coffee shop were excellent. All home made. We basically tried one of each and grabbed extras for the road. The scones are probably the best I ever had. Black coffee, chi latte and iced lattes were also amazing. Service was excellent. Local family owned who clearly take pride in what they do. The ambiance was clean, cute and spacious. I'm back to drinking straight shots of espresso. The espresso and coffee are so smooth and flavorful they don't need to be covered up with anything. Not to say you can't get ANY flavor you like. They make a great mocha in a glass cup. Coffees are all imported German and Italian. All teas are loose leaf with no additives so you can get exactly what you want and nothing you don't. Fresh baked pastries and croissants, warm from the oven at 6 am five days a week. The earliest espresso shop in Sarasota with the best espresso! Anyone can say the best but this is seriously the best espresso shop since Andrija's Seattle Cafe closed years ago. The owners are European and strive to create a European style espresso shop.
