I'm young and stumbled across some growing thyroid nodules that my drs and I have been monitoring for years- it's been such a hassle to find a good endocrine dr.... my last one told me to leave and he couldn't help me. My mom just had her thyroid removed so I really felt the need to monitor mine. After my last Ultrasound I was in a panic thinking the worst.....I called so many and finally stumbled across dr Olsen- they were able to get me in way sooner than thought. Him and his nurse were ON it.... he literally showed up with my records I sent them the day before and had notes on everything. He sat down with me and ACTUALLY listened, was not rushed at all and took his time to answer my huge list of questions, reassure me on the workings of a thyroid and even took me to a mirror and showed me what he saw.... for peace of mind he had me get an fna- Who was done by another incredible referral. Litrally a day after the fna he called me early in the morning and his first words were Lauren, good news..... thank you- finally someone who knows people panic... 20+ years ago I heard neighbors talking outside my home about this amazing doctor, someone they…read moretruly trusted. When I asked the name of this doctor...they said Dr Franklin Lowe. I made an appointment that week and have never looked back. Dr Lowe is a compassionate, caring, person...not just an MD. When I first went to him the wait time was horrible, but since he is now concierge there is generally almost no wait time. His staff takes you back and does a pre-screen so that the time with Dr Lowe is on point. A word about his staff....they are excellent. They treat you like family and know you as an individual, not just a name on a file. Both my husband and I see Dr Lowe, love and respect him..... he is family to us. And has seen us through many crisis - some quiet serious with excellent results. His referrals to other doctors are impeccable..... the very best. To sum it up ......I'm having PT for a hip replacements and when I mentioned the name of my surgeon and Dr Lowe (my GP), the therapist said...."you've got the best", this is also what I'm told when ever I mention Dr Lowe's name in the local medical community. The procedure went ok, quite painful, but everything seemed to go as planned. Later that day and for the following week, I was in extreme pain - unable to walk. I called the doctors office three times to leave a message and see if there was something wrong as this was not normal. Each time, my messages were left unanswered - no doctor to respond to my inquiries. I ended up going to Urgent Care for assistance to address the excruitating pain. When I finally was able to speak to someone, it was the front desk who provided me some advise (same that was on my handout - she was not a medical professional, so I didn't have any help in that conversation). I provided the feedback to Dr. ElKhoury- Front desk staff unprofessional, no follow-up at a very vulnerable time in the process and unfortunate. I've since found other Pain Management doctors in OC that have been much better - but I wish, pain management was more than just spinal shots and more thorough review of options.

I have low bone density and am prescribed an Evenity injection once per month. At my appointment, I was given a warning document for a completely different medication. This level of miscommunication between the doctor and nursing staff is unacceptable. Had I not questioned it, I could have received the wrong injection -- which is very concerning. Although I tried to move past that incident, I later received a prerecorded call cancelling my second dose (scheduled one month later) because I had "missed required lab work." I was never instructed to complete any lab tests prior to my second injection. This lack of communication directly impacted my treatment. Overall, this has been a very troubling experience. Patients should not have to double-check basic medical instructions to ensure their safety. Please be cautious, ask questions, and advocate for yourself or your loved ones -- especially if they cannot do so on their own.

A month later I went to get checked out and Dr Kim performed some blood tests from A-Zinc, she found some deficiencies in a few key minerals and vitamins so she prescribed some vitamins and a couple of meetings with the nutritionist, told them that I don't eat until the afternoon most Work days and survive on coffee alone. I started eating better and laid off some coffee then Dr Kim prescribed a 10-Day Detox, I wasn't heavy but I was "skinny fat"! The Detox plus the nutritionist got me eating the Right foods including Breakfast. I threw my arm out to the point I couldn't lift it without severe pain, went to Dr. Kim and she scheduled an MRI on my shoulder STAT and that discovered Two Fully Torn tendons requiring Surgery and today my shoulder is stronger than my other one. Recently all was good yet Dr Kim recommended testosterone injections to prevent mental fog, improve my chances of not developing mental disease and increase my vitality, it wasn't how long I could live but the Quality of the Life I have remaining that she wanted to focus on. Four months later I feel like a young man, I no longer have fits of rage, I have a spring in my step, and I just feel younger! But when I have gone, he would not listen to all of my concerns and I felt like I was back at Kaiser where the doctors have a stopwatch attitude. I used to go to him for my bi-annual physical, but he started billing an extra $99 over the $25 co-pay to deal with them. First real concern, I suffered kidney stones, he couldn't do anything but refer me to a urologist. Feel free to read that review. It was a really good referral... NOT! Then, the last time I went in for an ongoing dermatological concern he ordered some labs, oddly enough it seems he padded the labs, as I can think of no reason for him to run a battery of STD tests, HIV/AIDS, Hep, and others. I questioned this as I knew that I was negative for them for I am chaste. Anyway, so for the tests that were 'useful' they turned out not to be so useful. When I went to the dermatologist (separate review), she wanted to see the labs. So on her stationery they faxed a request to his office... I am waiting... she comes in about 10 minutes later with the results... a fax came back with my last name scrawled on it, the doctors stamp in the middle of the page, followed by "No records on file" I was shocked. I called on my cell phone and went off on the guy that happened to answer the phone, I was a royal a$$, but 30 seconds later I heard the fax machine ring and she came in with several pages of lab results. I spoke of usefulness, I am by no means a medical professional, nor do I understand what most of these results mean, but I can say that she said they were useless and unrelated to my concern, and ordered another battery of labs. Sorry, got off on a secant, so when said labs came in they said to come in to the office for an appointment. So I did, I took off work early and raced down to his office to make the appointment they assigned. I got there like 15 minutes late, because of traffic. I checked in, they didn't know why I was there... So the girl went in the back, got the results, the original of the same page I received in the mail, which said everything was normal AND to be sure and keep the appointment. So she hands me the paper and proudly announces that she saved me the $25 co-pay. I asked, that's it? she went back and asked Dr Davis then came back with the report, he says you are healthier than he is. Have a nice night. So after leaving work early, rushing, and fighting traffic to get there I get handed the same piece of paper I am holding a copy of. Nothing addressed about any of the concerns I had, nothing else about the tests, nothing whatsoever.
