On July 22 we visited the restaurant with about eight people. The service was not great. I asked for grilled chicken on my taco salad due to a special diet. I was told it couldn't be done. (maybe it wouldn't be done) Next another question about grilled chicken vs fried on a salad. I know it can be done and WAS a few weeks ago. Again we were told they couldn't do the that and we would be charged for a sandwich on top of the salad for an extra cost to cut up the chicken! Pizza was average. I've had better. I've had worse. The bread sticks were light and fluffy. Th fettuccine Alfredo was the star of the evening. I found it a little odd that an Italian spot would also have Mexican food on the menu. The server was very nice and personable. We've been coming to Harvey's for years when we are in town to visit and it's consistently good and a good value! Easy parking and lots of seating (harder for very large groups but still doable) with vintage decor throughout. The breadsticks are a major hit every time and a must get - lightly salted on the outside and always warm and fresh! I have loved the pizza bagels for years and always end up with leftovers. The bagel is just soft and perfectly chewy and it comes with cheese and pepperoni that are melted and warm! This time my family also tried Stromboli and were pleased to be able to customize it! we have been going to Harveys in Peru for years. I was in Kokomo and decided to grab some food at the Kokomo location. had to drive by twice to decide if they were even open. blinds on the windows are completely shut and no sign saying open. when i went inside at about 4:45 p.m. there were 3 employees sitting at the lunch bar eating and the front register operator was also eating. 2 young men were behind the lunch bar singing to the music. I had called in my order so i figured the wait should be short. while they were getting my order 2 other customers came in but no one seated them right away. very disappointed. when i got to my dinner i had cheese garlic bread that tasted like and looked like it had been leftover and reheated. for 2 chicken alfredo with cheese garlic bread and 1 drink it cost 38.00!!! will NOT RETURN TO THIS ESTABLISHMENT read more

I haven't been to Harvey's in years.... the last time I went it was for salad bar and pizza. Well, you can say goodby to the salad bar, since covid it is still sitting idol and not in use. The menu still reflects the salad bar as an item so there's that. I didn't see anywhere that you can order a salad but the neighboring table got one so I must have missed that on the menu somewhere. The front of the menu now displays a note that expenses have gone up 20% recently but that the current menu prices are 5% more than what the menu represents, that they are considering what to do in the future regarding that 20%.. that's not word for word but I didn't get a picture and that was the gist of it. I can understand having a price change as I've seen another small local restaurant recently raise their prices slightly as well. I felt like it was a lot of words to say... please appreciate that we haven't marked up the price a full 20%, but we may be doing that in the near future. Now to the food. My parents ordered first, dad said he'd have the Stromboli, mom said she would have the same and I ordered the Heapin Harvey. The waitress repeated our order back so quickly and quietly all we heard was Stromboli and Harvey and she was gone in a flash. None of us were sure what she had said and we didn't see her again until we were almost finished eating. When our food arrived there were 2 sandwiches, 1 Stromboli and one Harvey. We told the lady that delivered it that there should have been 2 Stromboli's and she must have misunderstood, she said ok and left. No one came back to let us know another sandwich was being prepared, etc and after waiting a bit my parents split the sandwich they had been given & began to eat. No one came by to check on us, refill drinks, etc during this time. When they were finished with that sandwich someone different brought another Stromboli to the table and just dropped it off. They split that the same as the previous one and as we were nearly finishing our waitress showed back up to see if we needed anything. Then again as we finished our last bites she came back again to ask if we needed anything. It would have been super nice if the waitress had simply come past our table and let us know she misunderstood that they each wanted their own sandwich and checked on us sometime during our meal. We could see her milling about and talking to other employees but she never made the rounds to check on us. She didn't seem overly busy with other tables, just never came our way. The food was better than I expected but not amazing. I'm not a big fan of sausage but I did like the crumbly sausage on the Heapin Harvey. The sauce was almost indecernable, I knew it was there because I could see a little of it, but there wasn't enough to add to the flavor. I kind of expected the sandwich to taste a little like pizza on a bun but without much flavor from the sauce I didn't get that. I forgot to ask for no black olives but there wasn't an abundance of them so I was able to pick them off. I might try the sandwich again, but would be tempted to ask for more sauce. I really do wish they would bring their soup and salad bar back. I only know of a couple of place with salad bars now and miss having more options of places to go for a diy salad. read more

Horrible service. My Dad ordered a chimichanga. The waitress asked beef, beef/cheese, or chicken. He orders chicken. I order a personal pizza. They bring my dad a burrito and then tell him the chimichanga does not come in chicken. Don't you think you would say something before bringing out a completely different meal!!! I ended up having to ask for my pizza and was then told they dropped it and had to make a new one. My pizza did not even come out until AFTER my Dad was done eating. My son and I met my elderly parents here for lunch. For my son and I, the food was acceptable. I ordered a Stromboli, my son a small pizza. We each ordered one trip to the salad bar. We were each given one small bowl. The salad bar had a variety of items for toppings, but the lettuce (all plain iceberg) had brown edges. Our small bowls were deeper than wide, so that pretty much eliminated being able to get potato salad, veggies, fruit, etc into that one bowl without it being all piled up and mixed together. It was also expensive for the size and quality of salad. Our pizza and sandwiches were standard fare, but they were served hot and we liked the sausage they used. My elderly dad really likes eating here, but then he actually prefers cheap and poor-quality diners (think Denny's) and fast food over chef quality food and gourmet fare. He was happy to eat his little pizza and bread sticks with canned nacho cheese. Decor here is nothing special. They have a few posters and memorability on the walls, booths and regular tables. It is a bit loud echo-y for table conversation. Not exactly dirty, but not spotless either. Restrooms could use a good cleaning and salt/pepper/catsup items on the table needed to be wiped down. Bread with butter, cinnamon, and sugar place under the broiler til it's a little crunchy, and then powdered sugar glaze over the top - holy cats, it is good. Harvey's makes my favorite Hawaiin pizza that I've ever had. The Kokomo location isn't as good as the Peru original but it's nice to have this one in town. The cheesebread, breadsticks, and pasta bakes are really good. The nachos are pretty tasty too, although nothing above something you'd get at a ballpark. It's a little on the pricey side but it's good to break away from the chain stores. The staff is very friendly, and it has a nice 50s diner atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit. read more

Stopped for lunch with my wife at noon on a Saturday while making an annual business trip to Kokomo. Our expectations were high. The results were very poor. The menu was limited. Service was barely adequate. Taco shells resembled fried bread rather than tortilla shells. Salad bar was small and looked unappetizing, so we did not partake. My 7" pizza was adequate, but seemed like a frozen pizza. Atmosphere was dated--tape on the walls where posters had hung. Cheap furniture not well maintained. We will not return. read more

Ecclectic variety, however a bit pricey for no more flavor than they actually provide. also, Ordered the 'create your own' sandwich ...turkey and cheese only for my daughter. When the bill came, we were charged almost double the 'create your own' cost on the menu. When questioned, we were told that Turkey costs more than the other choices and we cannot discount it. WHY NOT TELL US WHEN WE ORDERED?? or at least have a notation in the menu itself *which it was not*. The waitress looked directly at what my daughter was ordering, as she pointed to it in the menu and explained what she wanted. Also, There is no reason to harass customers who request explanation of charges, especially when they do not match what you have listed prominently in your menus. Food is good. Although the breadsticks are a little bland and the "stuffed" breadsticks are just breadsticks cut down the middle with slices of meat. More like long, skinny sandwiches. Their pizza is awesome though and the chicken strips are a favorite but the carryout/delivery service is AWFUL! We love the food so we order once in a while and I can tell you 9 out of 10 times, they forget something in your order. Sometimes just a cup of cheese, sometimes and order of fries, other times a sandwich. I don't know how they can get it wrong every time! You would think we would have learned by now!
