Service is superb, the ambiance is always happy, always cheerful, always pleasant. Their beer selections are superb including their signature Rags to Riches brewed by Flying Goose in New London. It provides a great respite from the maddening pace of the three cafeterias at the resort, which can become stuffed with people and getting a seat is like winning Power Ball. After the Pandemic, Mount Sunapee instituted a Maître d' concept instead of a sit-yourself service. That has worked quite well and avoids rude people hijacking tables the entire day for a few people as it occurs in the rest of the resort. Service is quick and the food is more varied and way better than the cafeterias. As well, the enormous bar lends a fun ambiance to the place with lively conversations throughout the day. Goosefeathers also has a gigantic outdoor area with full view of the slopes. Only drawback to the place is the schedule. It closes too early, usually at the end of the ski day. No genuine Après Ski to be had. If you want to do that, the Shanty is right outside the access road in Newbury.

So, apparently, the cook failed to show up for work. They were late to open and when they did we were told the menu was very limited. Fair enough, what can we order we asked. Burgers, dogs and pizza were off the list, (how these are difficult items is beyond me) fish sandwich and chicken was on the list. We ordered chicken sandwich, haddock sandwich and chicken fingers. 30 minutes later food finally showed, fish was raw inside, chicken raw inside, fries were cold. Best guess, they had not thawed previously frozen food before cooking. I used to work in the restaurant business long ago and that is all that I can think would explain this as the appearance would have led me to believe it was cooked. So, if this is the case, the food is not "made to order" as it says on their page and since they were missing their cook, no one knew to thaw the food ahead of time (best guess). One other thing, the beer I ordered was listed on menu as a 16oz beer for $8, instead I received a 12oz can, this was while waiting for food. Very dissapointing, they should have shut down kitchen under these circumstances. Their own web page warns about eating undercooked food and then they served it to us, hopefully no one gets sick from that first bite. From the decor, the sound system, and the food - the event itself was just so great. But what really earns the 5 stars is Betsy and her incredible staff. Their ingenuity, creativity, tenacity and optimism in the face of a major setback was truly inspiring!! I love The Dive and I'll be enjoying it again ASAP!

I stopped by Cheers At The Weirs recently for lunch around opening time. There are no parking signs with their logo adjacent to their building, but it serves as limited customer parking for Cheers At The Weirs, similarly to the Tower Hill Tavern dedicated spaces. I sat myself up at the bar where there were a few folks already having drinks. The front room has a flatscreen TV, Keno 603, on the wall and a digital jukebox. The bar offers 6 draft beers, can beers & seltzers, wine, mixed drinks and cocktails. The food menu is similar to its predecessor offering a selection of appetizers, wings, black angus burgers, sandwiches, wraps, pizza, salads, soup and Italian dinners (lasagna rolls, chicken parm, ravioli) with garlic bread. The prices are fair. I got an ice water and ordered the Cheeseburger ($13 plus tax) with fries & dill pickle spear. My entree was served in about 12 minutes after ordering. The burger had a grilled beef patty with two slices of melted cheese, lettuce, tomato slices on a toasted brioche bun and pretty good bar burger. The standard golden fries were deep fried hot and crisp. After I finished my tasty burger and fries, I was all good and got the check which was $14.11 (cash)/$14.53 (card) with tax and before tip. Overall, the service here was prompt and the food was enjoyable. I did order the lasagna rolls previously when it was The Clubhouse, but the internal temperature was inconsistent. This time, the Cheers At The Weirs came through with a solid good burger. Hopefully next time I stop in, they will have loaded nachos and pizzas.

What used to be a strong, popular but dated physical facility was transformed into a modern, efficient, welcoming and even elegant venue serving both skiers/riders and the general public. We came over to ski Tenney Mountain during one of the coldest days of the year. Below zero weather, wind, but the snow was pure fluff. And despite the slow lifts, the skiing was superb. Still, six runs in that temperature with a stiff wind took the energy out of me. That's when the Backcountry Bar and Grill came through with a superb Irish Coffee that allowed me to be back after thawing out, with new energy and desire to ski. We then came over here for an early Apre Ski. Five people had superb brews, superb Ultimate Grilled Cheese, awesome Chicken Sandwich. And a Backcountry Pulled Pork with an Apple bourbon barbecue sauce that had me licking my fingers. The bartender was the best I've seen in New England. We will be back because Tenney is one awesome ski mountain and because this wonderful venue makes it complete for customer experience.
