I paid full price for what I thought was a professional job, only to have a more reputable firm take one look and ask if I had patched the hose myself. Why? What? Me? Because instead of using proper replacement parts, the job was held together with tape, and rubber bands, and what I can only assume was sheer optimism. Two hoses needed to be replaced with factory parts. Instead, I got a DIY craft project--scissors, glue, and a hefty bill. I paid for expertise, not an arts and crafts session. This place will have you leaving PISSED OFF and BROKE. Brought in my BMW, which was running fine in for a rad hose to be fixed: Not knowing the Bill $469.48 - labor $345.00 - part $116 - fees & taxes $8.08. When I picked up my car it's running SO BAD & check engine lights on, OWNER SHAME ON YOU. Tried to tell me that Spark Plugs needs to be replace quote: $347.59 Oh and Rad Fan Clutch quote: $340.53. And you rear hatch door won't lock or close. ME " any clue why the door won't close, it worked when I brought it in OWNER "I have no clue". They won't call with any update, thankfully I called in to check on the car, there I asked them to STOP and do not do anything else to the car. My neighbor looked over my car when I got home and said who ever check the spark plugs DID NOT put them back together correctly, which cause to check engine light and reason for running so bad. Listen the reason for a bad review is not to just shit on someone business when you don't get your way, but to offer insight and feedback to the public who might be where you are and looking for help. I used Hartmann years ago after a teenager plowed into my E320 and damaged the onboard computer causing all kinds of issues for years to come. They were and are incredibly nice to work with. It's never a good thing when after a couple of years they recognize your voice when you call, but they were upfront, honest, and always tried to keep the cost of repairs down. They also did a couple of reviews of used cars my kids were interested in. Recently they did a simple 10,000 Mile check of our Sprinter van and although I didn't take the van in, (my husband did) it was nice to know it was in good hands. Not sure if they still have them, but their loaner cars used to be old Mercedes with an incredible amount of miles on them, a testament to their abilities and love of mechanics I think. read more

Requested that they look at my 2013 Jetta TDI that was towed to their garage. I wanted to know if the fix would be easy or how expensive. They just started working on it and the cost was $5300. I was shocked. Was the car worth that investment? Oh they assured me it was. Would the car run okay then? Yes they said. They lied. Mechanic casually mentioned that there were still a couple of codes that came up. Never informed me what the codes were or what they meant. Very smooth operator. I drove away and 3 days later my car was dying. I called upset because they did not offer to help me. Gee, too bad the kid said. Well, I had it towed back to them and they got it running again and told me it was the particulate filter. Just another $4-5K problem. What they should have done was access the car and inform me it was not worth the cost of fixing it. But today, I had to let go of the car and get a new one. I lost $5300 because they just worked on it instead of telling me the truth. If you are new to this shop, doesn't it make you wonder how they get rave reviews and then a few like this. Awesome people! Come across as super honest. My wife needed something smaller repaired on our Mercedes Metris. This was our second time into Hartmann. They just said "no worries, we can add a bit to your next time into the shop". My wife explained we plan to move in a few weeks and this may be the last time in the shop. "No bother, we are good and will only bill if you come in another time before you leave" (!) Really impressed with the care they have given and their responsiveness to issues that crop up. Everybody knows how hard it is to find a good auto shop. Was having issues with my BMW starting up and Kuni said that they didn't see anything wrong with it. Took it to Hartmann and the team here was able to diagnose the issue, carbon build up and condensation on the pistons. They were able to fix the issue and told me if the issue continued to come back and they would run through it a second time. No issues further the car is starting up and running good. I can't recommend this more. I've never thought I wanted to give 6 stars, but if I could - I would. We all know that auto repair shops are often slimey and underhanded; especially when dealing with nicer vehicles like Mercedes and BMWs. What a RELIEF to find genuine quality at a REFRESHING price. More than once I've brought my beloved roadster in and they've not charged me a thing! Either no need or it isn't anything that needed repaired and they never tried to get me to do things that were unnecessary or unwanted. WTH?? The first time I brought my German engineered Chrysler labeled Crossfire in, the bill was a whopping 53 bucks. Shit, I can't get a few decent liters of oil for that price, and that was to fix something I thought would run 100s dollars. Plus, they always have the same awesome guys working there (Mike deserves a high five). I have been a consistent customer of Hartmann Motors for the past 10 years and have been pleased with the quality of their work, pricing and willingness to work with me. But for the last couple of years the quality of their work has gone downhill. It now often takes them 2-3 attempts to fix the same problems on my vehicles for which they charge me every time. This is in regards to two classic vehicles that are driven 300-1000 miles a year, garaged and maintained. Last October 2019 I personally installed a new fuel pump on my 1979 Lincoln Mark 5 from Baxter Auto Parts located across the street from Hartmann. While on a test drive it was putting out too much pressure and I had to have it towed to Hartmann. These are the reproduction fuel pumps that are now being made for these vehicles. Hartmann fixed the problem by installing a new float and splicing the 40-year-old rubber 8-inch long fuel line with a regulator to control the pressure. 10 months later while idling in my driveway an engine fire broke out. I called Hartmann the day of the fire as their work was still under warranty. Brittany answered the phone and said she would have to speak to Pat about it. They never called me back. I had a reputable mechanic look at it and he pointed out the fuel line ruptured and was spraying the distributor and coil with gas which caused the top-down engine fire. I went down to Hartmann and politely requested my $327 back from Mike which was very reasonable given my vehicle has suffered about $2000 in fire related damages. His immediate response was "I'm not doing a thing until I look at it." I thanked him and left after he continued to repeat this over and over. Hartmann expects me to tow my burnt-up vehicle down to his shop and back so he can "look at it." I was only requesting the $327 for the initial repair. This is what I get for being a loyal good paying customer for 10 years. Hartmann's arrogance has prevented him from doing the right thing. His immediate hostility showed zero willingness to work with me. I am only thankful this did not happen in traffic and cause serious injury. I do not think this possibility crosses their minds when they work on some of their customers vehicles. Hartmann should have replaced the 8-inch long 40-year-old rubber fuel line with a new one when installing the regulator! Hartmann is too concerned with volume over quality. read more

Once again, Hartmann has made owning a slightly aging BMW less painful than it might be. Leaking gasket is scary but they got it done overnight, far less expensive than what was quoted by the dealer. I'm not one to give 5 stars unless a business is truly exceptional. Well these guys are! I was on a road trip with my kids and on Labor Day stopped at the auto parts store next door. Jumped back in and my SUV wouldn't start. The nearest Benz dealer sent out roadside assistance and after several hours and a trip back to the shop still couldn't get it going and wanted to tow it back to the dealer. They were rattling off major $$$$ worth of repairs and said it would take several days. Well being 200 miles from home and having a broken car is frustrating, but being told several days to fix just made it worse. Mike happened by and suggested he could get it going much faster and much cheaper. Shortly thereafter the tow truck driver showed up and with the same recommendation. In a way it was quite fortuitous to break down where we did instead of 500 miles from nowhere. They were working on it first thing Tuesday morning when they reopened after the holiday, had the no-start problem fixed AND fixed the airmatic suspension for far less $$$ than I expected (and a fraction of the dealer price) and had me back on the road early that afternoon. Fixed fast, fixed well and affordably. When it comes to car repairs what more can you ask for. Great big thanks to these guys! read more

I have been bringing my car to Hartmann Motors for over 10 years and before I brought my car there, my parents were bringing their cars in. Their service is great & the twin owners are nice honest guys who take great care of my car. I have never run across anything that I didn't like there. I have referred several people who all bring their cars there now. I have never heard a complaint from any of the people I've referred. All I can say about the two complaints on here is, you will never make everyone happy. Don't judge this shop based on the two complaints when you are only hearing one side of the story. I know so many people that take their cars to Hartmann Motors and stayed as long time customers. I think that speaks volumes for a repair shop. Give Hartmann Motors a shot and make your own opinion. All our 3 cars have been serviced here MULTIPLE times. I would say only 10% of problems have been solved !! 2001 Mercedes C320 - gas smell issue never solved (3 times brought in just for that and payed $$$). 2005 BMW X5 - multiple electrical issues - still after we payed $$$$, oil leak (they say it's normal to add oil every 800-1000 miles or so on "these type of cars") , cooling liquid smell and temperature above normal - never solved. 2010 Mercedes ML350 Bluetec Check Engine light - "solved" after spending $951 !! , but after 5 miles driven - light came back on. I was told that actually there were TWO problems, but filling up the Adblue Basin might have solved the Second problem. I do NOT think they even tried to add the liquid, since it was empty after several days.... I will never go back there. Shocked by the excellent reviews. read more

I have used Hartman motors in the past and been very satisfied with them. However, my last experience with them was abysmal. My 750Li was overheating and shutting down. they put the computer on it to diagnose and replaced the oil level sensing device- no Joy. keeping it short, I spent over $1,000 dollars there and it still had the same problem. They were talking about replacing the fan unit for approx $800 or the computer for an ungodly amount. I had ask them about the thermostat but "the Computer" said it was OK. I took the car home and then to Tim's automotive. They called the next day and said the engine gets hot but the radiator does not. the pulled the lower hose, took out the thermostat, and put the hose back on. Voila! bad thermostat! they didn't have to use a computer, they used mechanics know how. read more

This place was highly recommended, turned out to be the worst thing that happened to me. My car died and I had it towed here, after checking the engine he called me and said it was the head gasket and would cost 3000+, I said okay let's do it. After 3 weeks Mike called back and said "its our fault, its not just the Head Gasket, its a whole engine." And it would cost $6000+. Haha, what's a joke. And the worst part, If I want to tow the car out of the shop, it would cost $1500. Don't get it fix or check here unless you want to get gang up by the twins. read more

This is my second visit and I must say I appreciate the honesty and loyalty of this company. First of all I normally do not write reviews, but they well deserve it. I had my car towed in because i had problems with my Air suspension and had them to trouble shoot problem and come to find out my struts were bad and I need the driver side replaced, so i had them to replace both and i was impressed with there work and quick turnaround. About month later my Benz start having the same problem, so I called and explained the situation and brought my car back to them and they discovered that I had a leaky valve and replaced it no charge. Quite simply the best European car garage in town, if not the best garage period. Pat and Mike have a genuine passion for what they do, and go out of their way to treat their customers right. My family and I have been going here for over a decade. They're speedy and quite reasonably priced ( European cars are never cheap, but the brothers take a lot of the sting away.). One look at their yard and bays and one notices that European cars of all vintages and makes are worked on. From Porsche 911 turbos to humble Mercedes diesels, to classic Rolls Royces, they know their stuff. My mother has her CLK serviced by them, and I've used them for work on a 500sl as well as a 300CE. I brought my 99 BMW here once for a maintenance repair, and asked them to look into a second problem I was having. I ended up having them do the other repair as well. They weren't pushy, didn't ask me to do any further repairs other than what I asked them to do, and the cost was very reasonable. This is exactly the experience I wanted to have, especially as a woman who knows little about cars. They seemed friendly and honest. Our 1992 Mercedes S-Class was due for service. It had not been looked at in awhile and we needed a new mechanic. I herd about these guys through a friend. We needed a timing belt, oil and oil filter change and new wipers. They quoted me at around $230. We brought it in around 10am and they were done by 1pm. Total cost was $229.
